When setting up progresso subscription reports, it suffers in that any report that needs to run with date parameters that are relative to the runtime date, there's no way to specify that - it just keeps runs with the date when the subscribed report was set up. As I result, I'm having to copy and modify each report to have no date parameter . On further thinking, and to keep modifications minimal and standardised, I decide to use "01/01/1901" as a value to trigger overriding the parameter date to a runtime calculated date, effectively allowing me to have one report that works normally on demand, but also as a subscription report. For example, where a report is for attendance with a start and end date, on the appropriate DataSet I've change the DataSet -> Properties -> Parameters, Parameters value to be something like: =IIf(Parameters!EndDate.Value = "01/01/1901", now(), Parameters!EndDate.Value) Generally this has worked fine but I've hit an issue with a modified version of the system report "Absences for a date range". The code above works fine for the end date. However, for the start date I simply want to set to the first of the current month. Various attempts have led to the following error (at runtime). For example "Semantic query compilation failed: e InvalidParameterValueType The data type of the parameter "Date" is DateTime. However, the value provided for the parameter cannot be converted to this type. (SemanticQuery ''). (rsSemanticQueryEngineError)". One thing I noticed in the associated DataSet is the queried date field appears like this: whereas for another report that works the relevant date field looks like this I suspect I need to do some kind of conversion but I've not cracked it yet, so any help appreciated.

Hello all What I would like is to be able to add a parameter to reports with an 'Effective On Date' to show the data as of any date in the past. For example, if I have students and classes, it will show students who have left and their class as of that date. For those who have used SIMS, this is a standard parameter before you run the report but struggling to get it working on here. Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated. Tom

I am working on a modified version of the system Parental Report 1 (Assessment grid - no target column). The main report is selecting values from the Year8 template/screen fine and one end of year value from the previous Year7 template. The issue I have is that for one subject, there is no previous data (effectively we have a new subject). For all other subjects we are displaying the a EndofYear7 value fine, but where the value is a missing value, I want to show an assessment value from the current Year8 instead. A similar situation may arise (for any subject in fact) where a pupil joined in Year8 and again as no Year7 data, I want to show instead the Year8 value. I'm interested in suggestions for an approach. I've tried a options of routes but not yet successfully yet.

We are looking to appoint a Data and Systems Analyst to lead on the development of data use across our three schools. This role involves developing and maintaining data standards across the organisation, working with staff teams to analyse data sets, educating staff on the use of data and supporting the on-boarding of new systems. The successful candidate will be able to retrieve, analyse and present data in report format using SQL, SSRS, MS Access or other tools. The ideal candidate will be proactive in spotting opportunities to use the school data set to inform decision making. Hi all, looking to see whether anyone has found a solution (or even developed one in house) for the automatic generation and sending of emails from iSAMS based on a workflow / data based trigger. I've looked at the list of CRM systems that integrate with it, and unless I've overlooked it, they all are based on incoming leads (i.e. applications) and the integration pushes data into iSAMS at the point of enrolment. What I'm after is something that works with the data in iSAMS and then generates emails without manual intervention (and wishful thinking would be to log it against the communication history of a student too!) The sort of thing I'm looking to automate would include: Periodic confirmation of parental contact data held in iSAMS - people can quite frequently change mobile phone or email addresses, especially given that students can potentially be at the school for 18 years if they stay all the way through. Welcome emails to new parents containing information about the IT systems the school uses and how to create or activate their accounts - these are fine to send manually at the start of year, but its easy to forget to send them to students who join partway through the year. Exam reminder emails We currently self-host and use SQL Standard, so don't have the luxury of Data-Driven Subscriptions in SSRS to achieve this; its hard to justify the difference in cost to upgrade to SLT when its free to just have someone click a button or two once a week. I'm also aware that potentially this could be done on the SQL server itself through scheduled tasks, but its not very user friendly and ideally I'd like something that can be administered by more than just myself.
