I am setting up an IP Radio station within our college. I have setup a tidy little studio where the mp3 will be encoded. Students save their pods to a shared folder. I have installed ShoutCAST on a server within the college. The server reboots ever weekend. When it starts up it launches a playlist in its startup folder. I add current pods to this playlist from the shared network folder. Students and teachers can listen to the stream from any workstation in the college by clicking a hyper link on the intranet page. Additionally we are playing the radio from speakers from various pcs within the college. These pcs are only to play at break and lunch times. I have built an XP SP2 machine that I will use to play the url at certain times of day. I have set the machine up to automatically login and put a playlist file with the url of the shoutcast server within the startup folder. Obviously this means that the radio will loop throughout the day. Since I only want the radio to play at certain times in the day I tried using scheduled tasks to launch mediaplayer but I can't seem to add an end time for my programs. Does anyone have experience with scheduled tasks? If so how do I add an end time? Is there another method that I could use?

Hi all, ive created a scheduled task which runs a bat file that connects to a network share and robocopies the differences to a folder on the c: i want the scheduled task to be able to run under a student account. iv set the RUN AS section of the task to NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM hoping this would work but it does not. the error the users get when running the task (via a shortcut using schtasks.exe) is ERROR: Access is denied. and in the scheduled task log it says "Result: The task completed with an exit code of (0)." any ideas on how i can accomplish this???? thanks, ITHelp

Hello, i am running an older machine to enable me to execute some old legacy programs/systems that are on the way to be replaced. Im running XP V2002 SP2. I have an odd situation where occasionally the scheduled task process just stops working. In most situations what this means is that after restart, I have to change the passwords (yes, i know, but I cannot change this at this time) back to something as the password file becomes corrupted. Here are some observations: Restarting weekly does prolong the problem from happening Once the passwords didnt need changing long weekends will almost guarantee this problem will occur Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me things to consider? Now sometimes

I'm having a huge problem with a Windows 2003 R2 Server and so far none of the fixes I've found online has helped. Some time ago the server stopped being able to run any of the scheduled tasks (around the time the SIMS.Net SQL platform was moved from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 Server). I have binned all the tasks, and also removed the files in the c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18\ folder and rebooted (as has been suggested elsewhere) but the problem remains. If I try and create a scheduled task I receive the following error: Error 0x80070005: Access is denied If I examine the Scheduled Tasks log file the following is shown: 0x8004130f: No account information could be found in the Task Scheduler security database for task indicated I'm absolutely pulling my hair out here as the backups aren't running anymore (amongst loads of other things I need to run!). I'm doing everything via the adminstrator account so although I feel it must be some sort of permissions issue I'm totally stumped :-( Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Dan.

Hi All Our SLT are looking at changing the way some of our MIS systems work One of the drawbacks we have is that many apps built for schools are procedural rather than event driven apps. What I mean by that is they depend on the user doing something e.g. running a report, entering data in a marksheet, entering behaviour / achievements In an event driven application it is the event that triggers a process e.g. A detention is created for a student, we might want the creation of that detention to trigger an email to the students head of house, rather than running a report at the end of the day saying "these are the detention students". The event here would be "detention created", trigger process to generate an email. If a student is registered as attended for period 3, but they have no mark 15 minutes into period 4, we might want to generate an alert to the Attendance Officer warning them that we have potential truants, rather than the attendance officer running a report manually. The event in this case would be "time to check for truants" and the process would be alert the attendance officer (using whatever way we wanted to...report / email / txt etc) We are looking to try and find an package that supports event driven processes and schedules, particularly in the areas of behaviour and attendance. We currently uses SIMS / SISRA analytics Many thanks Phil

I have been searching for a while but not getting much out of my trusty friend Google at the moment, so wondering if someone else out there might be able to share some wisdom. By default, Windows has a Scheduled Task under Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > SystemRestore called SR. This is set to run daily on System Startup and at Midnight however I would like it to run a little more frequently. Obviously I can modify this manually on the odd machine, however I want to change the settings across multiple machines through GPO. I know how to create a scheduled task in GPO but how to I edit the already created task under the above location? Any Ideas? Thanks James

I have spent countless hours reading through various guides, handouts, snippets and forum threads, but I am still getting nowhere with this! I cannot get any scheduled reports to run. I believe that all accounts being used have the correct permissions and that the commands in the scheduler are correct. I am not getting any error messages when it runs but no reports either. HELP!!

Specifically on server 2003 setups, the schdueld task fails to run each night to do the data transfer. On server 2008 setups the transfer is comepleting fine, all have just been updated to the summer release. C:\Program Files\SIMS\Discover Services\Discover.Warehouse.TriggerConsole.exe is what should be run. Anyone else having a similar problem?
