Encountering occasional weirdness with Zimbra using web access. The following message arrived at 03:09 but did not appear on my screen until 11am. Other messages arrived as expected in the meantime. Can anyone explain this for me? You know that problem that Vista and then 7 had when if you had both redirected folders and offline file sync enabled it could take forever to logon. That issue that they fixed in Vista, then in 7. Weeelllll, you'll never guess what Windows 8 does They really need to fire Faily McFailson from MS and fix their bugs propperly rather than embedding the same stupid faults in each new version so they have something to do.

Since migrating our installation of SIMS.net to a new server recently, users have complained of very slow response when loading up the document server. Specifically when clicking Reports > Run Report, there is a delay of exactly 2 minutes 6 seconds before showing the list of reports. During this time, Sims.net application is not responsive. - Tested on server: no delay at all - Tested on three clients: exactly 2m 6s delay on all of them Whilst testing I've done the following: - switched-off on-access scanning (antivirus) on both client and server - ended all non-critical processes / stopped services - run three concurrent file transfers across the network to client using Robocopy to see if this affected this delay - it did not - run Filemon / Procmon to attempt to determine what might be causing this None of the above affect that 2m 6s delay when clicking Reports > Run Report. - Server: Win 2008 Std 32bit - Clients: Win XP SP3 32bit - Sims.net version currently 7.142 (Autumn 2011 I think) This wasn't an issue before I migrated the server installation to my new Win 2008 instance and re-installed doc server. Rather than posting results of my Filemon traces here, can anyone help given the above info? I haven't re-installed Sims.net on the clients yet... Many thanks! Mat

Hi, I have set up two terminal servers - one in a domain which is fully activated and licensed and one as a stand alone eval system for troubleshooting. I am not using web access - I am simply publishing RDP shortcuts. On both servers all remote apps have a 60 second login time. Once the user enters user & password it takes approx 60 seconds before the app actually runs. Clicking on the details button reveals that the first 10 seconds are very busy, at approx 10 seconds a message 'preparing your desktop' is displayed, after this just a blue desktop background is displayed for another 50 secs before the app actually appears. Subsequent logins for the same user are almost instant as the the session sits on the server. I have searched the web and tried to troubleshoot but I am getting nowhere fast. Has anybody come across this before and if so, is there anything I can do to reduce the login time? I am supposed to be rolling out a new system for a school but this 60 second login is going to kill it before its even off the ground. Your thoughts and ideas on the above are very welcome. Glenn
