Hi I am trying to setup a commendation certificate in SIMS. Teachers enter commendations using the achievement section of SIMS and place a comment on the achievement. I am trying to get out a pre-printed certificate that shows date of achievement, the description that the teacher wrote for those awarded in a certain time frame. A pupil could 0 - 5 commendations in a weeks so it needs to be able to pickup multiple copies. Is anyone able to help as to what criteria I need to use for the report? I can sort the layout ok and it sort of works but breaks if there is a pupil who has more than one commendation. Any help welcomed! Thanks Stu.

Hi, apologies if this has been discussed before but I couldn’t find anything on the forums. From the beginning of this academic year we have reintroduced a house system into school. The students are receiving lots of points which is great, but the problem for us comes to reporting on the points totals, specifically concerning House events. For example, PE run a sports afternoon with various competitions happening. At the end of the afternoon points are awarded to the individual winners, but we also look at the bigger picture when it comes to overall House performance and reward points accordingly to each house. The problem occurs at this point since there is no House entity within SIMS (that I’m aware of) that we can assign the points to. As a work around for this we have decided to award these performance points to the House Captains so we can run reports on overall House points totals monthly/termly etc, but the issue arises when we come to run individual student/form points totals. I know that we can remove the overall points totals from the House Captains individual points totals by filtering out the House Event Achievement Types to give more accurate results. Though this is a simple solution that requires little effort, this solution isn’t liked by the staff in charge of the House system since its open to human errors. ie when entering the awards, choosing the wrong Achievement Type would mean that the filters wouldn’t remove the points from the reports when being run so would therefore give false points totals for the House Captains. We can't be the only school that has come across this problem, so I was hoping if anyone knew of a more elegant solution to this, or can anyone suggest any alternative methods of storing points? Ideally we would like to remove the link of Event House points to individual students and somehow award them directly to the House, but we’ve been searching unsuccessfully for a way to do this for a while. (One crazy idea was to create a fake student entry per House to award the points to, but I put a stop to that because it would affect the census etc.) Any and all ideas are welcome Cheers guys Jon

I've stumbled across a problem with behaviour and achievement logging....linked to the parent app. Firstly....the parent app is OK. We have launched to Year 7 parents and the feedback is good. However, there seems to be a problem with displaying full achievement and behaviour information in the app. The app draws out information from an achievement and behaviour log for the parents to see. However, unless the member of staff modifies the activity (subject) and also enters their name in the 'actioned by' box....the parent app only displays the achievement or behaviour....not the subject and member of staff. If this is the case then this is rubbish! SIMS knows who the member of staff is (as they have logged into SIMS).....and if you are completing an achievement or behaviour log from the register then it also knows the subject! So why does this need completing again? Is there any way of completing these two drop down menus by default? This COMPLETELY defeats the object of using rick click on the register and quickly logging a behaviour or achievement....staff think this feature is great. But now I'm telling them that they have to go fully into the achievement or behaviour menu to complete the log. Am I correct in this? Any feedback / help would be greatly appeciated

Any suggestions on a primary school pupil achievement software. we have SIMS, but we find it does offer any flexibility for primary schools. Also what kind of information are you storing and using?
