  1. Don't forget DPA issues..... There was a thread the other day on the same issue where some costs were pointed out. A vaguely remember a thread /awhile/ ago about staff have write rights to student data and that was apparently a no no against some policies and exam boards. If the person just needs to change passwords, i recommend a tool like: http://www.wisesoft.co.uk/software/passwordcontrol/default.aspx
  2. What format are the drives in? NTFS or a Fat version, Because Fat doesn't like 4gb and it could be handling it bad.
  3. Dia can do it, but its not automatic.
  4. Dresses better than some people i see in public....
  5. We got charged more for losing the locking pin at the end (had a openable back) compared to the fire.....
  6. You could do a swipe card system, so the students have to go up and approve the print jobs (pcontrol and papercut both have tools for this iirc), you could probably even set it up so they wouldn't need to swipe anything and just approve the job.
  7. Check your web server (apache, iis for eg) error logs to see what is causing it.
  8. You should probably have something, that at least logs the access weather that is ISA 06 or smoothie or another package all together.
  9. Reinstall sounds the best.
  10. Personally I would just dump both networks and start fresh with a single domain, since one of the sites already has cc3 on it, that will most likely cause issues and this way you won't need to have to worry about two way domain trust issues.
  11. Typical Australia? Excuse me! Our teachers are nothing like what are shown on those god awful shows like neighbours or home and away.
  12. I believe the ruckless APs can run in "unmanaged" mode till you can afford the controller box/card, If that would make cheaper and more accessible to you (someone will need to confirm/deny this). I'm surprised to see that you aren't running your systems in a domain, Is there a reason for this?
  13. I remember using a electric staple gun once at school.... went though the pin board and into the cement wall.
  14. Your video card is probably in dual mode and has the second output disabled. XP: Right Click (Desktop) -> Properties -> Settings
  15. I would need nails for that.
  16. Butter/Steak Knife?
  17. Sure it's not just getting a wrong profile, such as a default one?
  18. Are you just running RM machines or the actual RM network package?, I vaguely remember reading someone mentioning that it doesn't clone/image properly.
  19. Wait, they are replacing a keyboard that they broke for free? laptop or desktop?
  20. Congrats, Best wishes and other appropriate salutations.
  21. AFAIK MS has a tool that manages multiple RDP connections at once, Although i'm also aware of Terminals
  22. Is there someone active on both ends of the cabling and has power going to it?, I've forgotten to make sure the computer had power a couple of times and had the switch light stay off for me.
  23. Could you set it up to use radius, that way they just need to enter their AD details to get onto the network? Although if the staff laptops aren't known to AD and are on the guest ssid, what are they missing?
  24. I saw this on the Makezine:Blog earlier, and it might be of interest to people: SchoolTool: free gradebook, attendance, calendars and more.
  25. Share it anyway, People might fix it up and make it more flexible (depending on what license you give it).
