Are the laptops part of your domain? you could do the restrictions via hashes with group policy.

That only covers the machine sid, there are other ones for things like wsus, which is why you are are ment to sysprep images.

I use the PChat compile of XChat compared to the silverex one, It just seems to get updated slightly more and its already packaged to be portable , also pidgin is horrible at IRC and should be hurt.

Afaik, if you do it with the ad sites properly, you can do it as a single domain.

What do you have in the way of a network atm? Most people seem to have a mac server to handle the management of the systems (aka GP but for Mac) then just tie into their existing AD network for user accounts and storage.

when you say control panel, do you mean something like CPanel, because those don't do subdomains properly, you should be doing it higher up in your dns control panel. (unless you have actual control over the web server running config)

How were the workstations setup? With a image, if so were they sysprep'ed?
