  1. How are you currently managing your email systems? exchange?
  2. Logitech has a app for it I believe? But what is she using to play the movies? iTunes? just grab the Remote app in that case.
  3. Because [under Australian law at least] they are legally admissable in court where as emails are not (even digitally signed), which is why the legal and banking industry still use them because they have no currently legal alternative for this type of stuff (apart from sending paper copies with couriers). My dad works in the finance industry which results in documents being sent back and forth between the banks so it has to be done this way.
  4. Get Fruit Ninja (there is a free version)
  5. Permanent markers and a unique numbering/IDing system would work fine.
  6. Asset tag everything...
  7. Couldn't they just do the same from a windows system then?
  8. Shouldn't they be getting sync'ed to your DC... so it should be no more than 5 minutes in either direction...
  9. You learn something new [almost] everyday!
  10. Do a batch file which runs a few xcalcs commands? (just set it as a machine gpo and it should be file), I would set it to create a text file so its easy to kill the script and doesn't attempt to keep redoing it. eg (pesduo code): If exist: c:\file.txt then do NOTHING else end
  11. could you run it with runas to supply the admin password?
  12. OpenSource wise there is Xibo and there is something else that I can't remember the name of (Starts with C or something). If you search around there is a few threads on the forums about digital sign-age solutions.
  13. Apple Remote Desktop?
  14. Kind of, depending on what method you used.
  15. BGInfo as a login script could possibly do this (But don't quote me on this)
  16. Why not just PXE boot and clone it that way? way more easier...
  17. Can you do it ont he user level compared to machine so it can be done at the login screen?
  18. There is a GP to do this from memory
  19. Are you on any MS licensing plans? I hear Forefront Antivirus (Its the corporate version of MSE) is pretty cheap but you do need a SCCM and/or WSUS box (iirc) to manage it on the network. Personally in my view, I wouldn't go with any solution where their isn't a antivirus client on each workstation due to usb drives and such.
  20. Credit Card? no... You can active a iTunes account to gift card and I know that is how a couple of the schools around here (AUS) do it.
  21. Move the printers into common areas where others can see them? doubt most staff or students would try it then.
  22. Edit: Ugh kinda misread the the OP so a more correct answer to the post: Depends on how you want the IP addressing to be, there is no correct or incorrect answer for that, you would subnet each one or create one big network, I would probably go for the former myself. Also are the set up as seperate wifi points with different SSIDs or a all combined thing?. ---- What are the distances between the buildings and what are they used for? (I'm no expert on wireless) But are you sure you want wireless? Those distances + groups of students probably would drag the students down pretty bad, but are you planning for each to to be a point to point wireless back to the main building or some sort of mesh. Without knowing more, I would probably consider fibreing from main to 3 and 5 and then depending on the distances between those and the other buildings a few installs of standard ethernet, then if you want wireless as well you can do a mesh between them as well as also having a decent wired connection. Although if you had enough money I would do fibre to each building but I bet you don't.
  23. Drupal and Joomla seem popular on these forums.
  24. Aren't they already done automatically if you shutdown and they are already downloaded onto the system and waiting to be installed?
