No, you can leave both MX records and A records so you can continue to receive emails for both SMTP domains. point a) above, you dont need to set it as authorative, it's not required, the default is your internal domain name, all you need to do is make sure it's an accepted domain. Don't forget the other stuff like SPF & PTR records.

Servers Can't Resolve Own Hostnames or Network

I'd try remove any DC/GC cleanly via ntdsutil. - Pretty muc documented here - How to remove data in Active Directory after an unsuccessful domain controller demotion -
Can you go to the EMC>Recipients Container> and then find the problem user, and check the Name field on the User Information tab. Then modify the legacyDN via adsiedit to match this. You can see the legacyDN is different from yours. It's strange as I thought it wasn't a legacyDN issue but it seems like it may well be. The other alternative is what was mentioned before, to create a x500 address for this user. (Try this first before the legacyDN change via Adsiedit).

Exchange 2010 trying to move users to a new database, getting errors

Was it just SP2 or did you deploy UR3 too? I do remember seeing something similar to this but can't remember if the fix was in SP2 or UR3. -
By default they are logged, go to the properties under Server Configuration in the EMC and right click server>prop>log settings. However, use the EMC>Toolbox>Tracking Log Explorer to perform a search. (Takes a few times to get it right, have a play around as you may not get any results back if you dont put in the "appropiate criteria" exch is looking for).

1. Can you move TCP/IP from the NIC adapter and resinstall, re-IP and then test? 2. Can you see if IPv6 is enabled or disabled? 3. Can you update the NIC drivers if they aren't running the latest drivers? -
[email protected] [email protected] Both of these or just the one? If one is missing, as a test can you add the missing and test again.

Detailed info like SP level UR etc..makes it easier when troubleshooting any issue when Exch is installed, many issues depending on the level you're on. However, in this case it seems more on a DNS issue however knowing the env always helps me. -

What about the other questions? -
Can you check and see what SMTP addresses are associated with this user? Is [email protected] listed as one?

1. What does the 2080 event say in the app log on the Exch server? 2. What version of Exch? 3. As a test can you stick in a host entry for one GC in-site and test? 4. How did you try to reset the IP stack? 5. When you do an ipconfig /all does it show the correct DNS servers? -

Any update on this? -
Haven't seen the new updates but I know there have been some changes around virtualisation and moves, not sure if Exchange is supported in this scenario?

@JoeBloggs - Did you check the OLK versions?
