Nothing comes close to a BMW for the automatic gearbox in my opinion!

Starting your own IT support business in 2021
Reboot_IT replied to robinhood007's topic in General Chat
If somebody wants to dress smart and professionally then fair enough. I don't think salary should come into it. -
Hello! Just before Christmas I accepted a job with an IT MSP who provide IT services to other business and some public sector organisations. Having worked in Education IT for 12 years, starting as an apprentice this is going to be a bit of a change! I wanted to thank everyone for their support. Although I don't post a lot, I have benefited from keeping up to date with trends, reading ideas/opinions and offers of support from people working with the same challenges as me. If anybody has any tips of how to prepare for the change from public to private it would be appreciated!

It's used widely at our Trust and seems to be liked by staff/students!

I'm going to invest in one after the winter. A couple of friends have got an Ooni and they are the best Pizza's I've ever had. The only worry is I'll eat too many and stack the weight on!

Nobody is forcing the parent to send their child to the specific school. The parent should find an alternative school stuck in the 1980s!

We've bought a few Vestel screens through CC Communications and have been happy with them so far. They've gone into some of our secondary and primary sites. The pricing is very competitive.

We moved our primaries to Arbor in January from SIMS and it has been fantastic. The same is happening in our secondaries from September. Fingers crossed. Covid allowed us to migrate slightly earlier so we've been partially live since Early July but it's the first time it'll be in full swing!

One of our schools had scheduled GCSE results to go out via Gmail...

Good luck! Take some hi-vis balls! In other news, I broke 100 on my last 18 holes which is the best I've done. Doing another 18 on Sunday and after that I should have my official handicap.

Thanks for the tips. I've joined the local club and I'm managing to play 2-3 times a week at the moment. I generally only use irons at the moment as I want to improve that part of my game, it wasn't going well yesterday so on the 18th, after a stinker I pulled the driver out. I hit the best shot I've ever hit and gave myself a chance to birdie with the subsequent chip which I of course fluffed! Golf eh?! I'm planning on getting lessons, can't decide whether to do them soon or at the beggining of next spring so they are fresh in my mind. Can't imagine me playing much over winter.

Hi everyone, I've recently taken up Golf (mainly due to lockdown) and I have got the bug. It's the most frustrating sport I've ever played and I go from wanting to give it up to enjoying it as I'm so inconsitent. Does anyone have any tips/resources to help?! I watch Rick Shiels a lot and his videos are great. If Golf happens to be popular enough with people I suppose this can be a general Golf discussion thread too!

I can also highly recommend EDIT and Pennine Education.

Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
Reboot_IT replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Did you receive the email? It's not necessarily about being paid it's about planned renewals. I'm in the boat where a license is up at the end of the month and I can imagine the trouble it would cause if this wasn't processed before a closure. This would likely put strain on their support teams as people would be asking for temp licenses to be set up! -

I actually saw that and thought they were being helpful. If the license is about to end and an order hasn't been raised etc. It could be difficult to get this sorted in the event of a school closure. -
We use Storage Spaces Direct with 3 hosts. Been using 2 instances of this solution for 18 months and am very happy with it. Server core is installed on them all with the hyper-V role. We use DPM for backups.

[GCDS] - Disabled AD accounts to Suspend GSuite accounts
Reboot_IT replied to timbo343's topic in Cloud Services
Hello, We have our "leavers" going into a leavers OU in AD. We then set a search rule on user accounts for that OU with the action to suspend the account. We use Salamander so it automatically moves the accounts from our standard OU to the leavers OU. Thanks -
Have you checked your Firewall/filtering? We had issues with freePBX and it was related to our firewall (Sonicwall) reaching it's threshold for UDP packets which caused Flood attack Protection to kick in. T

Stranger on Netflix. 3 Episodes in and it seems very good!

Good Afternoon and Happy Valentines Day. We're a MAT using the GDPR Sentry software which we are very impressed with. I've had a meeting with them today and Email retention cropped up and I wondered what other MATs and Schools are doing with regards to this. Currently staff manage their email accounts and aren't really advised to delete or archive their emails which basically makes it a dumping ground for conversations. This can particularly be an issue should we receive a Subject Access Request. There isn't a law on this but it seems the ICO advise that emails be kept in an inbox for 3-6 months and really no longer than 18 months. Should it need to be kept longer, it should be filed somewhere (perhaps PDF'd). The problem I have is that it would cause a massive shift in the way people work and use the email system. Has anyone enforced anything to improve compliance? We are using Gsuite at the moment. Thanks

We use GDPR Sentry in a 5 school MAT. Simple to use and the support/training has been great.

GMAIL - Internal emails going into Promotions tab
Reboot_IT replied to Reboot_IT's topic in Cloud Services
I was hoping for a way to do it globally to be honest. It's affecting a few of our schools. -
Hello, Some emails to distribution groups EG: All staff are finding their way into the "Promotions" tab which is causing people to miss them. Is there a way to either turn this feature off or prevent it from happening? Thanks
