Over the moon about this. SG1 is one of my all time favourites. The team behind it being a mix of the old production team gives me some hope.

Off topic but I have to ask what sacrifice did you have to perform to the deity of your choice to not only get 3 computer suites, but also desktops?!?!? 🤣 I keep getting told repeatedly by 'professionals in the know' that IT suites should all be torn down and repurposed, a laptop trolley is more than enough, and that desktops are a waste of money "Just give everyone a laptop!" (All of which I disagree with) I'd also push the 8gb ram to 16gb IMO.

Yep, this is exactly what I've found. Each time I've used a framework it has been a fair amount more expensive. I tend to stay away from them now unless it's photocopier procurement, or huge sums of money. The school's that stick to mostly purchasing via framework must be paying a fair bit over the odds for most things... Sort of goes against the 'best value for money' mantra that has been drummed into my head since day one.

They have just released their new pricing. Second price rise in a year, with more probably to come early next year. https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/ Plus a blog post https://www.3cx.com/blog/news/pricing-update-enterprise-ai/ Long story short is that they're increasing prices roughly 15% due to the AI capability now included in the Enterprise version (even if you don't use it). Plus you still need to link to your own OpenAI account and pay the costs involved with that... Will hit larger orgs the hardest with the new limits on extensions. Might consider migrating to something else in the future.

My friends and I currently pay for the PC pass which keeps us topped up with plenty of multiplayer/co-op games, so we'll probably be keeping it. I'll probably end up upgrading to the ultimate due to the inclusion of the Fortnite Crew pass, which I already pay for. The cost to subscribe to both roughly equal out but with the added bonus of the Ubisoft classic on GamePass.

Still down here - even the status page doesn't load 😞 Edit: It's up...and then it's down...and then it's up

What online games do YOU play and WHO are you in them?
Cat_Jam148 replied to tarquel's topic in Gaming
Rust is a game I haven't played for years - I think I last played around 2013 -2014 when it was in early access. I loved my time with it though, especially with a good group. I've always been wanting to go back, but I remember it almost being like a full time job in regards to protecting your base as it was vulnerable when offline. Is that still the case? Or is it a little more casual than it used to be? In regards to my gaming...it is Fortnite at the moment. Love it or hate it, it can be a lot of fun. I can't think of any other game where you can be run over by KITT being driven by a Power Ranger, while being chased by the Terminator and his friend Darth Maul, who is wielding a mini-gun. Great for when friends and I are short on time. -
iPads & MDMs (How are we doing it??)
Cat_Jam148 replied to MrIlly's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
We pay £5.50 a device for the IT & Classroom management package. As far as I'm aware, it's the only provider out of the big ones which allows us the QR code login. (although it's been awhile since checking) Can't really fault it apart from the confusing layout at times. Staff and DSLs seem happy enough with it. -

Seems I've been mentioning it a lot lately but...Classroom Cloud (I promise I'm not affiliated) solved this sort of issue for us. Usernames, and email auth wasn't an option for our younger users so we opted to use the CC browser which supports QR code login. Each child has a unique QR code that they scan to authenticate themselves in the browser. It then reports any keyword matches back to the Safeguarding team and allows them to be monitored live during lesson time. Browser can be set to timeout after a short while, meaning the next pupil that picks it up can't browse the web without their QR code. We disable safari, so the only way to access the internet is via our manage browser. -
Microsoft Office (I thought it was M365) is reanamed again!

Drives me up the wall too but that tends to be how most companies do business now. The days of upfront pricing are slowly coming to an end. I detest needing to deal with sales to find out a rough price. Still, the service is good. And for anyone interested - we pay £5.50 a device for the Classroom & IT Management package.

I get that. We took a gamble when we joined up 2 years ago - it was definitely barebones but I think it's in a pretty good place now. Every month there are new dev updates. I'd say it has most of the features of the other two. Worth grabbing a trial for anyone who is interested.

We moved from Senso to Classroom Cloud a few years ago and it's been pretty rock solid. Probably the best I've used out of Impero & Senso. User interface is a bit clunky and the settings menu can be a bit confusing at times but apart from that, can't knock it.

I look forward to reading a repeat of this all again next year. I feel we missed a huge bullet going with another MIS. They're too busy chasing more schools. There’s probably an engineer who’s been shouting ‘this is a problem!’ for years, while management responded with the time-honoured tradition of ignoring it until it became someone else’s emergency.

3CX is great, is a bit more pricey than it used to be. Also don't expect any support on their forums. I got banned the other day asking for a rough timeline on a feature we're interested in. Looking at reddit, I'm not the first....seems their founder doesn't take kindly to questions or criticism. If we were doing our system from the ground up, I'd probably look more closely at FreePBX.

MY EYES! 😵💫 Reminds me of the old internet ❤️

We've had a few today... Another wonderful hiccup by CPOMS. What next I wonder... I'm starting to feel a level of annoyance with the system and their support team which was once only reserved for Capita and SIMS.
-
They got brought out by a US group in 2021, and as usual, service eventually suffers because of it... Support has been pretty poor for the last few years.

I agree, I think it should be made as clear as possible when this has been requested. If a supplier is that petty regarding their 'confidential' pricing, I would not like to see how petty the rest of the company is. I find it extremely helpful when costs are discussed as it helps put in perspective what we pay for licenses and equipment. At the end of the day school budgets are public money (in most cases), why shouldn't we be sharing what we are paying to make sure we aren't all being ripped off? It does trouble me a little regarding EduGeek that companies have the power to censor us on here... I know bills need paid, and that is done a lot by supplier sponsors, but it could be a slippery slope.

Just got around to finally watch Andor series 1. I'm usually a big advocate for a longer series with more episodes, but if there was ever a series that could do with cutting down, this is it. There was so much slow back and forth between characters, retracing story beats which had already been covered several times, it felt like it took forever to get to the 'main events'. 8-10 episodes would've been the sweet spot IMO as 12 was a little too much. It also felt like sometimes they didn't know how to end the episode, with awkward fade outs or a segment ending with a random cut to a character just doing jack all. However, did enjoy it overall, it had great action set pieces and gave us a good look at the 'regular' life of people in the Star Wars universe during my favourite era. I was hooked all the way through the prison segments. On to series 2!

All UniFi here and have been since 2018. Can't knock em' in my opinion.

Microsoft once again prioritising the real issues in their ecosystem. It's a wonder they didn't try and integrate Copilot into it. Still time I suppose.

The same kind of idiot that decides to upend the entire MFA auth system and replace it without any prior warning in the middle of a term, leading to a couple of weeks of headaches and issues. I don't have much patience when it comes to CPOMS anymore. Their support continues to be useless. Since they've been brought out, it is one problem after another.
