1. Alas I am not the Admin of that particular system. That is controlled by the local authority. I believe when we has set up the app, ( as well as one can) five or six weeks ago. But as I have already mentioned about an issue with blacklists and white lists and firewalls. I kept setting it up the app multiple times, which might have confused the system. Also the numbers the app was generating where not usable or something was not allowing them to sync with what the server, I guess. It's holly possible that no-one at County thought to check that the app was working, or was going through the firewall OK, as the majority of people seem to use the text message method.
2. So far I am waiting on the head. I have ask them to empty their web caches and try the link in another browser than safari.
3. To fix the "AMFA in Azure / O365 " would this be accessible from the user end or server side? We had the app setup several weeks back, but there was an issue with Teams, which meant that I kept reseting the app and phone number, until it turned out to be an issue with someone else's firewall blocking the app. it's good to know it's not a Mac problem.
4. I am having problems with Sharepoint. This could be a problem with sharepoint itself or a Mac working with sharepoint issue I am not sure. At the moment the new head ( the former deputy head) is unable to access a Sharepoint site. They click on a link emailed to them and are greeted with an Authorisation page with outdated "verify your identity" details. We had issues with the office web portal not multi-factor authenticator not sending texts to the correct iPhone / phone number. I fixed this issue today, but the above with Sharepoint has me stumped. I have posted this here, as we run primarily Macs at the school and very few PC's. I was wondering if this is a Mac issue or is it just Sharepoint no playing nicely.
5. I have a box of HP 364 XL ink for HP Photosmart, Photosmart - plus, Photosmart estation, Desk jet or Office Jet. From my research the School has never owned the corresponding printer for this ink, so I have no issue in offering them. I have: 7 Cyan Ink cartridges 6 Black Ink cartridges 7 Yellow Ink cartridges 7 Magenta Ink cartridges They are all boxed and unopened except for one black that the box has been opened but not used. Free to a good home. Inks have been re-homed (04/02/2020)
6. Hi It had acquire to me that everyone using the same account was an accident just waiting to happen. I have been working on creating accounts and sharing with them in the background, as a possible solution the the issue. but I was wondering if there was another. the heads calendar is shared as a read only and I think that has been working OK for some time now, so account all round it is. The accountability to who deleted a calendar event or who added a calendar event is something I have brought up with managers.
7. Hi all This has been an ongoing issue with Google Calendar, Office staff place events on the calendar and then they disappear. We are using Macs with OSX 10.13 and the calendar app for the google calendar syncing. Each user is using the same user account to edit the calendar. I regularly receive emails and phone calls complaining that the calendar is wrong and we should change to another system. Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue?
8. Hi You will need something to create a mobileconfig file or be able to edit and save as mobileconfig file. The GitHub page below has the mobile config you are after, it's called

Apple Safari.mobileconfig just change the <string>https://www.yourorg.comstring> to your internet page or website. https://github.com/neilmartin83/configuration_profiles I am using a Munki server to push out this profile. there is also a similar profile for google chrome to set that's homepage to a custom page.

9. Issue solved. Someone else signs it off, hence why it was grey out.
10. I was ask in to the heads office to ask me why the pop-ups were not popping up? We checked Firefox's settings and the pop-up blocker was inactive and if it was the site was an exception. The information from our local authority was a cut and paste reply, the only difference was "The website works best in Internet Explorer and on windows machines." which was not much help. Has anyone experienced this pop-ups not working issue, even though they should work on a Mac; dose anyone know of a solution to getting them working? I am not sure if developer menu in safari and user agent as Microsoft Edge will work? Or Microsoft Edge for Mac will work?

SSHD or SSD

Thanks. I just changed a Hard drive this morning ( iMac 2011) and its pretty easy; I have done the SSD upgrade to my brothers 27 inch 2011 iMac as well and that was no problem. It's just the heat sensor is a bit pricy for what it is. But the SSD power makes up for the cost.

SSHD or SSD

I have some 2011 iMacs which I want to upgrade. I know SSD are better than an old skool spinning Hard drives, but I was wondering if anyone has had any success with SSHD drives in iMacs and do you still need the heat sensor?
13. Alas the plot thickens. To try and cut a long story short. The tablet is being used as an EyeGaze device for SEN children. The Tablet has an amplifier stuck to the back. The tablet will not fit in the cradle with the amplifier attached to the back; so I have removed the back (shock warning call the health and safety department). I tried it in the cradle with the supplied power adapter, no joy. Now I have tried it with the original power adapter supplied with the tablet, and low and behold charging. technology! I will have to discuss with the staff member responsible for Eyegazes to see were we go from here.
14. Nope I haven't tried the diagnostics test. I will give that a go. I am not sure if the jack has any damage, schools and all who knows what life it has led.
15. Hi all I have a dell tablet ( XPS 18) which is not charging. When I plugged in the charger to the tablet says "plugged in but not charging" I have tried the a cradle and still no charge. Well I say no charge, it’s charging very, very, very slowly; almost five days to get 40% charge. I found a discussion thread reporting that the LED Screen had a part to play in the problem, but I am not sure. Any Idea?
16. I set up an older iMac to boot only into windows 7, I created a partition drive and install windows on to the second partition. I would imagine you could do the same and then upgrade to windows 10. Or if you have a Mac with two or more Hard drives you could install windows on to one of them and boot into that. You could once you have windows installed on the second partition remove the Mac OS partition. Alternatively swap the hard drive for a 2 or 3TB drive partition 75 -25 windows 75 and Mac 25 and carry on.
17. The usual searches and suggestions toward to App Store has turned up, installer unavailable. Sometimes apple hides downloads and with some searching and clicking around it's sometime available, but alas no. Unless it exist on an iTunes / App Store account? You could try command R on reboot to put the Mac or Macs into recovery mode and see if you can restore from there. Or upgrade to El Capitan Get El Capitan.
18. Hello, I have used https://macbank.co.uk they always seem to have a good stock of iMacs and Mac Pros to choose from and nearly every Mac comes with an SSD hard drive which usually improves older Macs; as well as good amounts of Ram, which is always nice.
19. Hi Congratulations on your solution. With regards to your A3 / second tray, I would suggest that you can put something in your CUPS code string that would tell the Mac that the second tray is installed. There might be something on https://www.cups.org/documentation.html that might help. I seem to remember in the past with a PaperCut server and a my Mac the client software also asked for authorisation when printing. In my case I think the problem was due to the fact my Mac account name was different from the server account name, so it always asked for authorisation. I.E. I mean that my Mac was not bound to the AD and the AD was not authorising my Mac to print.
20. Hello Are you able to send prints to the Ricoh printer without using your virtual print queues? I.E adding the printers manually on a Mac and seeing if they print.
21. Hi According to this post on an apple discussion forum, 128GB is the maximum for a Powermac G4 Digital Audio Mac. However according to Other World Computing (OWC) you can put a 500DB SSD into a PowerMac, but I would suggest its probably a MDD model, but it's nice to know I can put an SSD into my old G4.
22. I agree that PM can be a little temperamental at times. I have managed this by creating a device group called student Macs and in the dock profile I have prefaced my applications code as "//Applications/Safari.app" minus the speech marks. Also I added them to dock items not dock apps. So far I haven't tried dock apps.
23. Hello All I have a staff member with a MacBook Air MacOS 10.13, encrypted and managed. In the past I have added a profile to the Mac, from profile manager telling the Mac to auto mount a shared drive at login. The staff member who used the laptop has become unhappy with the login item / auto mount. I removed the auto mount off the laptops profile. However even after removing the auto login manually it still wants to auto mount the shared drive at login ( even after a reboot). I am thinking it might have something to do with the encryption or it has some kinda of phantom preference / plist hiding in the library somewhere. Dose anyone have any ideas or solutions?
24. Hi I seem to be suffering from the same error. I have managed to overcome the problem in the short term, by changing the printer driver to a "Generic PostScript Printer" which so far has solved printing issue. but it's only a temporary stop gap until I find a more permanent solution. I am in talks with out MFP provider to see if there are any answers there. P.S What kind of printer are you sending the print jobs to?
25. I seem to have hit a dead end with google calendar. What I am trying to do? I am trying to create a payload in profile manager for google calendar. I have three new iMacs with which I would like users to login and have their group payload install. Other payload information load AOK, I am just having trouble with google calendar. I have tried creating a CalDav payload to no avail and I have tried creating a mail payload to no avail. I can add the account manually from internet accounts under system preferences; however this solution seem very clumsy and time consuming rather than pulling data from profile manager. I have been wondering, if I were to set the account up on a mac then find the account data plist file or files, and then distribute the payload using the custom payload option in profile manager. But finding where MacOS keeps the plist files is like finding a needle in a haystack and then are there several needles to find ( keychains, mail plists....). If I have to do it manually, then I have to do it manually, it just would be nice not to have to do it the manual way. Any idea or solutions will be greatly appreciated.
