We're steadily replacing ours with full net 2 plus maglocks. The cost of the new one is outweighed by the replacements we've needed to do. For light traffic office areas they're fine, but as soon as students get their hands on them they don't last.

We'd need triple the budget to even get near the DFE standards. 40gig interconnects and dual fibre runs are a pipe dream (and in a building from 1958, there are a lot of pipes to get in the way.) I'd love to think they were being aspirational, but fear it's just so they can say "that cyber attack was your fault, as you didn't keep up to our specs" and wipe their hands of any responsibility.

Anyone got any suggestions for a SIP provider for 3CX? I'm fed up with our phone service provider (no audio on our phone calls today for instance) and would be much happier doing things myself.

I've been really happy with our VeryPC Aspect All-in-Ones. Their service for repairs and spares can't be faulted, and the pricing is great. It is heartbreaking when someone breaks a screen though, as besides the cost you're down a whole PC, so that's something to bear in mind.

It turns out that locker have their own license and it was available on their help pages all along, so I needn't have started DIYing it. It works a treat. It's hard to get used to companies with decent support sites - I went off on my own before checking. Cheers to Alawil for the help, even though we ultimately didn't use have to use it.

Yeah, we need the license, locker requires access to paxtonserver:8080. Any hints on getting one sorted without an installer account would be gratefully received!

Trying to set up the net2/locker connect link to create users. We've got web/app access setup already, is the API stuff separate? or do need an API license as well?

That stack is just just what we're looking at too. We've already got the Wifi so it seems a no brainer. I'm fed up with persuading a 10 year old netgear m6100 to update without it falling over. Please keep us posted on Unifi as a core solution - are you happy with it so far?

We do the occasional charge for students on request. It's mostly because their travel passes are all on their phones these days.

I've been putting it off for a few weeks after getting the invite via mail. Must get it done as I do feel the difference between what the DFE standards want and what we've actually got is pretty much insurmountable, and they could do with knowing that. We haven't really been able to move closer to them since I did the last survey.

We use Luxriot, with a mix of Hikvision and Axis cameras. I'd never go with a hardware NVR again, I'd much rather have the freedom to choose appropriate cameras and not be tied in to a brand.

If you've got any Cyber Insurance in place you'd also be open to them not honouring a claim if you do this without ESUs.

That's how I'm currently looking at it. We'll use this years budget to cover teaching PCs in classrooms, and the rest will be retired.

I'd love to know how to get the money some of you have managed to get. Our trust and SLT have known about this since the first announcement of Windows EoL and we've had a real terms budget cut since. There is no extra money for replacements beyond our normal cycle, which leaves us with >200 devices that are in limbo.

The CCTV looking at our toilet communal areas (from the corridor outside) that we put in last summer has helped resolve two cases of bullying/violence, which resulted in permanent exclusions.

Are they in the right OU to see them? We had all our permissions messed up the other day by a new setting assigning drives to OUs.

As someone who's main interaction with Edugeek is the "Today's Posts" page, I'm fed up with these threads. Really, I'm fed up. I can't make a difference as to which MIS the trust uses and I can't do anything about the "restrictive practices" in the market. And even if I'm asked to help with our next procurement for an MIS I can't use anything I read about in these threads to help make our decision. I agree with Ditto. It would be nice if the squabbles were kept to their own thread.

I've got one on my desk that was handed in by a student from a company called Boscznorp (presumably from here) but judging by the fact it's been here for a couple of weeks they're not very good.

Airtags would probably be my recommendation too. I had my electric bike stolen earlier this year but had an Airtag hidden on it; it was taken from my garage at some point after midnight and was recovered by the Police by 11 o'clock the next day. The only hassle with them is the anti-stalking alert that says "there's been an unknown Airtag near you for X hours". It would give the thieves a notice that something was going on, but in my case the Police thought it was that alert that caused them to dump the bike away from their house.

As part of a correct procurement process, I'd not be allowed to use my experience of a provider badmouthing another provider to sway our decision; but equally, I couldn't use the details of what the other had done to sway it either. Makes all this stuff seem pretty pointless, and as others have pointed out, a bit of a waste of money.

That bit about not using our data has just been added thankfully. I had turned off access on our workspace earlier this month after reading this bit: "Allow all users access to Gemini, under the following conditions Users without a Gemini for Workspace (Business, Enterprise or Education) licence these users can access Gemini under the Google Terms of Service and the Gemini Apps Privacy Notice. That's now been changed to "Users with a Gemini for Workspace (Business, Enterprise or Education) licence: These users can access Gemini as a core service with customer data protections offered under the Google Workspace Terms or Workspace for Education Terms. Customer data will not be used for model improvements nor be reviewed by humans. Users without a Gemini for Workspace (Business, Enterprise or Education) licence: These users can access Gemini under the Google Terms of Service and the Gemini Apps Privacy Notice. Customer data may be used for model improvements and reviewed by humans. Users should be advised not to enter confidential information. Exception for Workspace for Education customers: Customer data will not be used for model improvements nor be reviewed by humans" I really don't like the brave new AI world.

That's sad news. pretty much got me into this mess career. He was a great presenter.

We have a couple we've used - Agilico and NEITS. Both have been excellent.
