  1. Hi Does any one else use the PS People HR software? We are thinking about new HR systems and As we use PS Financials, its seems like a good fit. We would also use the Payroll function within it so any info would would be welcome. Many thanks
  2. In an attempt to move away from the colossal amount of printing we do every year, im looking at ways to to go electronic as must as possible so does anyone know of systems that can publish student documents in the list below, online to parents so we don't have to use half a rain forest each year for our SEN schools: Annual Reviews and Annual review letters (currently these go home to parents to sign and then send back to school to be filed) Student presentations for parents and files Student One-page profiles for parents and files Student photos for files (these will mostly be in colour) I've no idea if there are any dedicated education systems specifically for schools that can have everything in the above electronically and the parents just log into a portal. We do use Evidence for Learning but i know nothing about this system so i don't know if this would work? Thanks
  3. Thanks for this. Looks really complex so i best start reading through. Not many suppliers on there though and i thought there would be loads more!
  4. Cool thanks. What part of the CCS site do i need to go on? I've logged in to it but its not very straight forward i cant find anywhere for Managed print services.
  5. Would you say costs tend to be cheaper doing it this way via CCS or is it more costly?
  6. Awesome thanks. So did you publish this anywhere for suppliers to comeback and quote or did you just send to a list of suppliers?
  7. Hi I need to go to tender for our printers/copiers and i have never done one before so is anyone will to share a copy a a copier tender they have done recently? Additionally any pointers would be really helpful. Many thanks
  8. Hi I'm really new to Flow and i'm testing the ability for Forms data from two different forms to be put into a Sharepoint list, with either the record created or existing records updated and i'm getting stuck. The MS forms are simply signout forms, one for IT equipment that will be issued to a user and the other form will be for keys and fobs. The end user goes to the form, fills them out and the responses get saved but i want this data from both forms (which records against the users email address) to be put into one row for that user into a sharepoint list, which is either created or if it changes, then that one row is updated. What i dont really want to happen is multiple rows for that user in the sharepoint list. Has anyone done anything similar and would kindly share their flow or point me in the right direction? I've got "When a response is Submitted" (Flow) then "Get response details" (Flow) and then Create List (SP) which will create new records but not update any existing records for a user. Many thanks
  9. Hi Does anyone use PS People? If so any positives and negatives would be really helpful as we are looking to implement a HR system Many thanks
  10. Hi Saw this news article on the BBC today. How practice is this in a school environment? Our staff are not allowed personal phones in school for safe guarding reasons: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-58575954
  11. What do you use for the firewall instead? All our sites Sophos XG's are up for renewal next year so it would be good to know what you now use.
  12. Thanks. Just out of interest, how do you word that in the AUP? Mine just says school devices are monitored but what the SLT person is saying is that its too unambiguous and needs to be exactly clear what we are monitoring and how we are doing it, and we should also have an ethical policy which makes it clear in terms of staff privacy on school devices if they go on personal email for example.
  13. Hi I just wanted to see what peoples stance was on Impero monitoring school schools and if its the norm and if anyone has come up any privacy issues regarding the monitoring of staff devices? We've had a statement in our Staff AUP that says school owned devices are monitored for safeguarding reasons but one person in SLT has said this is a privacy issue when it it comes to staff and thinks it unacceptable if staff use their school device for personal things and Impero picks anything up. Any feedback on what everyone else does would we welcome. BTW - the same person that has taken issue also came up with comment "if we have nothing to hide, why do we use passwords" and trying to get that message across was painful! Many thanks
  14. Hi Ive configured a VPN from a Draytek Router (over 3G/4G) to our Sophos XG and i can ping access the internal network fine however i cant get internet access from the clients on the draytek router side. Im i can ping using DNS etc just no web traffic over the internet so is there something else i need to set on either the draytek or Sophos XG? Im not fussed if all traffic goes over the VPN through the XG or web traffic directly out from the draytek and internal traffic over the VPN Thanks
  15. Cool thanks. Just out of interest, which region should i be picking when creating the VMs etc?
  16. Im looking at moving a few VM's from on-prem to Azure so does anyone know of some really good guides/videos to get started? Im a complete novice when it comes to azure so ive no idea on how to get started with creating the virtual networks, VPN gateways (site we can VPN in from on-prem) and how to create VMs Thanks
  17. The issue we had in the end was someone had set a static entry in the hosts file!
  18. I think i have now managed to sort the issues out but i definately take your point about Azure. Hosting VMs in azure/AWS is something ive never done and wouldn't know where to start to be honest. We have 7 VMs, 2 of which are DCs with one print server and one SCCM server but ideally i would love to start hosting more things in the cloud.
  19. Sorry to dig up this old thread but did anyone get a script to do this?
  20. We have a two node S2D Hyper-V cluster (Server 2016) and the cluster seems to fail if host 1 goes down. Yesterday we moved all the VMs from host 1 to Host 2, tried to shut down host 1 and then host 2 blue screened. Even when i disconnect the network cable from host one, the cluster seems to fail but if i disconnect/shutdown host 2, host 1 happy keeps working. I can migrate VMs okay from one host to another and running all the cluster tests seems to return back fine and the Quorum is also fine. The only thing that we do have is both DCs are in the cluster as VMs which i know is not best practice but surely this wouldn't stop the whole cluster going down if one host is online should it? Thanks
  21. Thanks Steve. Its was more a case of trying to keep it simple really and i wasn't sure if it was one of those things that it could be done but not recommended, if you know what I mean
  22. Hi have 5 new Aruba 2930f switches, 3 of which will be in one comms room and 2 will be in another and both comms rooms are linked by 4 pairs of fibre links. Is it okay to configure all 5 as one stack despite the 2 separate locations or is this not advised? the link speed between comms rooms is 10gb. the first three switches will be connect via DAC cable and the second two will be connected by DAC cable If its not advised then i will create 2 separate stacks. Thanks
  23. Is soundcloud allowed in public use such as schools though? Im trying to look at the Ts and Cs now..
  24. Hi Does any one know or use a Music streaming service in their schools or MAT? I wish Spotify had and education version available in the UK but unfortunately they don't. Ive just taken a look at YouTube Music but as with normal Spotify i'm not sure if this is allowed in education? The Terms of Service don't seem very straight forward. Thanks
  25. Thanks. Ive create a task sequence to uninstall the windows update but im getting this error on the clients when run. Does anyone know why? "Task sequence 'Uninstall KB5000809' has failed with the error code 0x00000057 in the task sequence step 'Uninstall KB5000809'. For more information, contact your system administrator or helpdesk operator."
