I take it you mean IIS6 on server 2003. First have you followed the install instructions found here: Installing OP SmartMonitor (Windows Server 2003 / IIS 6) What host header did you provide for the site you created and what DNS record did you add?

I'm guessing you have not set the site up as a dedicated site but as a folder off of an exisiting site. SmartMonitor is designed to be run as its own site not as a subdirectory or sub folder of an already setup website.

Great to see you got it working, what was the problem? I should have a full 2008/IIS7 install guide ready at some point today for those of you wanting to go this route

Yes that is correct you can only delete a group once it has no items connected to it, we put that in so you could not accidentally delete a full group. Is it possible that you could try it in firefox just want to make sure it is not your site setup that is the issue here.

You can indeed remove these groups, all you need to do is go to the Add group tab and under the form which you add groups you will see the exisiting groups already added and to the right of those you will either see a remove icon or "link items found". To remove a group with no items linked to it simply click the icon. You will need to do this for the two "undefined" ones you have added then re-add them as required.

What browser are you using? If IE7+ have you added the site to your trusted sites group in IE? Due to the way the AJAX and JQuery work you need to trust the site in order for it to work correctly or you could use FireFox 3.5+ which does no have this problem. See my earlier post here: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/networks/42682-my-little-server-monitor-15.html#post428617

Is it only me that finds ZeroHour really scary in this
-
Yes thats correct. This was removed as the status page is now public and we did not want to introduce any security concerns with server information being publicly available. All the information that was on that page is now available on the overview tab.

Correct This is what you was doing when you would have previously added it to the settings.asp file but this way it is alot safer as the password is not visible but also allows for the status page to be publicly visible too.

OK this is a page caching issue. To get round this in IE do the following: IE8 - Tools -> Internet Options -> General Tab -> Browsing History Section (Click Settings) -> Check for newer versions of stored pages (Set to "Every time I visit") Also IE8 - Tools -> Internet Options -> Security Tab -> Select Trusted Sites (Green tick) -> Click sites button and add you monitor URL Also if you use an in house proxy server. IE8 - Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections tab -> Lan Settings -> Proxy Server Section (Click Advanced) -> Enter monitor URL into the proxy bypass / exceptions list. This does not seem to effect FireFox 3.5.x and above

So the View Sensor windows opens and you get the list but only ICMP is shown, correct? Do you have other sensors against that item?

There is no maximum, during testing we had 20,000 rows in the status table. The overview tab will only show the last 350 entries any more than this and the performance in IE7+ is really bad due to a rendering bug in IE. You will not be able to remove any history as this is going to be used for graphing and reports, this will work by moving your mouse over an item name on the overview tab and a graph will popup showing you data over time.

Where are you getting a warning, on the overview tab or the public status page? If it is the first check the time of the last check and make sure that it has updated since you made the change. If it is the public page this pulls the status from the database and relies on the check being done so it is possible that you are seeing a status that has not been updated yet. Also if you add any items and set it to be monitored but you have NOT added any sensors these will display as a warning on the public status page.

By default it will be excluded from checking as when you add an item there will be no sensors added to it. Ideally you will want to add all your items you wish to monitor, then add sensors to those items, then enable the monitoring off sensors/items.

Hi Guys, Those of you getting the blank status page please do the following: Open default.asp in notepad and look for the following section (around line 190) You need to remove adoCon.Close and save the changes. I have already updated the download source.

OK All, v1.5.5 is up and ready for you to get your hands on. Remeber there is no upgrade path on this so as per my previous post create a new site and when you are happy take down the old one. Install docs ( OP SmartMonitor ) have been fully updated with Server 2008 / IIS7 & 7.5 docs coming in the next couple of days. Download is available here: OP SmartMonitor | OP Software - Solutions for Education Feedback on this thread or here: OP SmartMonitor
