In the same boat really. In your setup, where do you point your download path? We have user home shares which we redirect downloads, documents, pictuers etc. Already done Entra Cloud Sync I would have thought that the benefit of KFM was not having to map drives and folders on login however, most of my users (adults and children!) use their download folder to store everything 😄

Bromcom > GroupCall > Satchel issues yes. We had timetable changes from Jan that didn't populate. Satchel have a case open with them with no meaningful reply. Avoid GroupCall if possible, Wonde just seems to work.

SALTO Space Users - How are you bulk printing & enrolling cards
davie887 replied to DWilson1997's topic in Physical Security
Old post I know but I am looking into this also. We have Space and a USB encoder with an old printer that needs replacing anyway. Will update here, unless you had any joy and can tell me! -
Big shout out to JazzFlute! Finished defederating RMUnify this morning, used bits of the PowerShell script above, worked a treat. Moved users into the synced OUs some at a time to catch any issues. So far, only a few password resets. Used it as an opportunity to clean up some username madness from ~10 years ago. Salamander are working on the user provisioning from Bromcom. Works a treat, users signed into everything Microsoft seamlessly. Very happy! £5k, what a joke RM have become. Anyone reading this in the future, I am keeping hold of these files in case you need them. Also remember to RTFM, it's vital to remove the permissions from the RMUnify Azure/Entra app, stop and disable the RM service on your DC before letting loose the PowerShell Next step, Google directory sync. Off to do some reading. Thanks all

Thanks. I *believe* I just need to null the immutableID field in Entra. When I try to sync an existing user (in federated, RMU created) it always fails to match and creates a UPN+random number. New users sync perfectly, but obviously don't work with RMU sso because they don't exist in RMU. Will be doing Google as well with either Google directory sync or Entra I'd redirection. We have nothing of value in Google as we are mostly a 365/teams house

Fairly similar to what I was preparing, thanks for this

Legend! Thank you so much!

No worries mate, thanks for looking. I will post my findings here so everyone can see how to get the shackles off

Do you recall what they charged?

There is a PowerShell step to remove any federation as alordcharlie said. I know the generic remove federation command but I think there is steps to reset immutableIDs to null. It's this bit that has me a bit worried... I have Salamander setting up MIS user provisioning on Monday (Bromcom), I have Entra Cloud Sync working in new AD OUs for staff and students. Works great for new users. Existing users won't match because of whatever RMUnify adds to match AD/365 users.
-
Bump! Does anyone have any further info about RMUnify removal? I know several people have done it
-
No worries. The doc for defederation has gone/put behind a paywall
-
Thanks, seen that however those are for federating TO RMUnify rather than removing. I'm concerned with not being able to match users after defederation

Hi there, I know some here have done this and successfully removed RMUnify as their identity provider. I have been in contact with RM for nearly 2 months now and they have given me a ballpark figure of FIVE GRAND to defederate and set up Entra Cloud Sync. Suffice to say I just laughed. I know how to remove the 365 federation but was wondering if anyone had the documentation from RM R.E immutable IDs etc or even their scripts that they wouldn't mind sharing with me. I read a post from someone on here that they just asked support and RM gave them the instructions... This was in 2018 but the poster hasn't been on here since 2023 I've tested Entra Cloud Sync, works great with new users, not so with RM provisioned. Got MS on the case, they came to the conclusion that we need to remove RM, remove the attributes they amended on 365 and the sync should work and not create duplicate/erroneous onmicrosoft.com accounts Thanks in advance for any help!

Moving MIS provider will solve all these issues (and possibly create new issues) 😁

Hi all, In the process of migrating away from SIMS and a huge pile of legacy systems that are barely touched these days. RMUnify is currently the identity provider and user provisioning agent for local AD, 365 and Google. The school uses a about 50/50 Windows/Chrome devices, which RMUnify syncs passwords for. I am really considering asking RM for the decommissioning script and going it alone. Anyone with experience of this have any thoughts on this? Obviously with SIMS gone, the OS is less important. I have seen you can use Entra as the identity provider for Gsuite, again, has anyone done this in a move away from RM? I don't really care about the old Google accounts, as we use MS for class Teams and as long as my users can be signed into their Microsoft account on the Chromebook, we're golden. Thanks

Neverware CloudReady suddenly very long login times
davie887 replied to davie887's topic in Cloud Services
Another update from Neverware in case anyone has this issue - turn your auto update off if you haven't already. My own fault for trusting google, "it just works" I just wanted to provide a quick update on this issue. The issue is being investigated by a Developer, who is working on a fix for this issue. When a fix is available, we will release a patch for v92.4 stable release to resolve the issue you are currently experiencing. We do not have a time-frame for the patch at the moment, but it is our higher priority and will be released as quickly as possible. At this time we to encourage user to pause updates to v92.4 or restrict updates to v90 within the Google Admin Console so that this issue does not become widespread within your environment. Here are some steps to either disable or restrict updates. How To Disable Auto-Updates Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns, I'd be happy to follow up. -
Anyone else seen this? Our ~120 Neverware devices hang on login, making them unusable, sometimes. Various hardware, seems to be a new problem. Sometimes you'll get a normal login but logging out and back in as the same user again hangs. I've raised this with Neverware and they said it's a "known issue" and some stuff to try but no clues as to what the issue is and when it will be fixed. If anyone knows what's up I'd appreciate any help! Edit, reply from Neverware in case anyone is facing this: the QA Engineer assigned to this case has been able to reproduce an issue similar to the issue being experienced when logging in to a device on v92.4. The case is now currently undergoing assignment to an available Developer. In general, now that our QA team has been able to successfully reproduce the issue. Once a Developer has this case in their hands they will continue to investigate this issue further to identify possible root cause and to also apply a solution for this issue. Based on timing we are likely to provide a v92 patch for this issue. I will continue to provide you with updates as I receive them. I appreciate your patience as we continue to investigate this issue. Please let me know if you have any additional questions at this time and I'd be happy to follow up.

As title, we are trying to set up a Google directory in Smoothwall and not having much luck. The official documentation seems to gloss over quite a few important bits or is for and older version of GSuite/Google API... I've tried a few times from scratch following this but always end up with "Failed: Code: 400, Message: Invalid Customer Id" in the Diagnose screen on SW Directories. Customer ID isn't a term used in Google that I can see, Client ID is but this doesn't work either. If anyone has done this recently, any pointers would be appreciated! I've reached out to Smoothwall but they seem intent on sticking to their SLA come hell or high water.

Computing & MySQL - How have you got it setup?
davie887 replied to FN-GM's topic in Educational Software
Has anyone got MySQL Shell working over a network? I have MySQL server on a separate machine, user accounts with privilege to just their own database (and any database they create with _/%, eg joeblogs_mydb etc) from any remote IP and that works great with Workbench connecting to the server with IP address and user credentials but the faculty want to use command line... Using the switches I have found I am able to connect to the server in Shell but it only seems to want to pass the Windows [email protected] details, which are obviously rejected as not the same as the MySQL user details. The -u and -p switches don't seem to work. Have I missed something? Anyone else using Shell? -
Computing & MySQL - How have you got it setup?
davie887 replied to FN-GM's topic in Educational Software
In the same pickle, will re-read this thread tonight. I tried to packaging up the MySQL Server, Workbench and CLI into a MSI (RM CC4.5 ) and that works to a degree, but it's a pain in the read to have another service running on our ancient PCs, not to mention redirecting the data store to the student home folder. I have an instance of MySQL running on a PC in my office which I plan to use as the main server, another ready to promote to replication server (not sure of the MySQL terminology), thankfully I only need to create/manage 30 controlled assessment accounts for this, my main concern was students seeing and trashing other's databases...
