Thought of that, but it'd look a mess, and we have split break/lunch to contend with too. How do trusts do it? Or schools with lower and secondary school?
-
We were with Scomis for SIMS, they were very good at supporting that tbh
-
Was hoping someone from Bromcom would chip in and say it's something simple we've all missed. I cannot believe it isn't a useful feature for loads of schools.
-
To be perfectly honest, I am not that happy with Scomis. It usually boils down to I log a ticket, get one reply at day until eventually the agent just escalates it with Bromcom anyway. We would't be raising lots of tickets, just when we do, it genuinely is something not working as expected.

The AP timetable is completely different, there is an AM registration period where the main school goes right into P1, then the length of the periods is 60 minutes vs 100 (2x50min A/B sessions). The real issue is the periods not lining up. Should a teacher be required to cover P2 at the AP, it isn't P2 on their calendar and there is a ~15-20 minute travel time to the other site. If everyone were sensible it wouldn't be a problem, however we are SLT are losing it as they can't understand the technical limitations.

Is it possible to have more than one period/day structure? We have an AP that has a different schedule, but this is causing issues with staff timetables as the periods do not line up. Scomis, our support provider, say no. I have read snippets here and there that say yes, but do not elaborate. Is this possible? We can't be the only school to have an alternative provision on a different timetable. Our "timetabler" has washed his hands of it so it falls to IT as per usual

Oh in case anyone is looking for the CSV headers, ParentPay do not make it easy to find this info, spreadsheet attached Manual Upload Template - PUPIL.xls

We were happy with Scomis for SIMS support so it wasn't a big jump for us to go with them for Bromcom. A few snags haven't been ironed our since October, which might be one of the reasons they are exiting the hosting biz for Bromcom. Sucks I will have to go back to all our 3rd parties to update our integrations and PowerBi reports... the URL won't be bromcom.scomis.org
-
They are exiting the hosting market soon
-
Bit of the tread bump. As of this morning, our ParentPay upload are still working... There is no settings in our Bromcom for it though. I am trying to find a template CSV for our pre-admissions. I think because we are Scomis hosted (for now) this hasn't been turned off properly...

Yep the IT dept (I.e. me) is busier than ever, but the tools are so much more powerful now
-
Oh, 102% uptime then!
-
"100% uptime" when users can't do a register 😑
-
Can confirm. Not exactly an ideal work around. Most of our users are fine, only a few have reported it. I added cover permission, it started working for an affected user. We will never know the cause - there will be a vague statement, lessons learned, never happen again etc.

Lamp vs Laser Projectors any advice
davie887 replied to chrisbagnall's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We're running through our old stock of projectors and replacing with 75" IWBs. They are a no brainer now, integrated touch, sound, calibration always perfect. Laser in halls, both are 5 years old and still as bright as usual. Clean or replace the filters in summer -
Historical behaviour data reporting in Bromcom/Power Bi
davie887 replied to davie887's topic in MIS Systems
Thanks. I put my thinking hat on and found all the data I need from 23-25 in the Behaviour and non-basic Student data domains. I am have been impressed with reporting in Bromcom, live data etc. Lightyears ahead of SIMS -
Historical behaviour data reporting in Bromcom/Power Bi
davie887 replied to davie887's topic in MIS Systems
Hi, we don't have vision, but I have the odata feed, however it is only current academic year. I am thinking I need to do a report and make the data accessible via URL (or just CSV it once as it won't change) but was hoping that someone has done the brain work already! -
We've made some nice reports using odata into Power Bi but it appears the records are only for one academic year. Has anyone figured out how to export previous years data for comparison purposes? I think I will need to mirror most of the Students and BehaviourEventRecords tables

Our 365 integration has been broken since day one in October as we are hosted by Scomis. Bromcom don't seem in a rush to fix this for us. It was nice of them to break it for everyone else so I don't feel left out!
-
The messaging is poor. Issues cropping up are just the nature of cloud services though. "Cloud is just someone else's ****** computer" I can't count the number of times our SIMS fell over for **reasons**. Every workstation/server update brought some headache. Bromcom hosted on Scomis was fine for us during this period.

Even 3 x 1920 pixel wide screens doesn't show it all in an acceptable manner. I don't really know how NT6 works but I've seen the timetables on it, it's neat and tidy. My timetabler wants to have a look at the demo version of your software too
-
Our timetabler couldn't get round the fact he can't see the two week cycle on one page in wTimetable... I don't really understand the problem but then I know nothing about timetabling. Are you able to make minor adjustments in Bromcom when the timetable is from NT6?
-
Rather than start a new thread I'll ask here if nobody minds? We're using Bromcom since October half term and our timetabler wants to continue using NT6. While this isn't really a me problem, any potential future issues might be. Does anyone know of any gotchas with using NovaT6 as the exclusive timetable software for Bromcom?
