Hi, thanks for all your suggestions... it turned out Microsoft had black listed us which we didn't know until we turned on the sendconnector logs... doh...

So we have an on-premise exchange server that we use for enabling remote mail boxes and anonymous relay of smtp emails, so this affecting things like scan to email. This was all working perfectly fine until this Monday where we returned from the weekend and it has stopped functioning. Now as far as I can tell, nothing has changed and using wire shark and monitoring the queue viewer, I can see SMTP traffic come in and successfully be relayed out, I can then confirm that I can see this traffic leaving the firewall to the wider internet. I didn't set this up originally so I am picking up the pieces of people long gone who got contractors to set this up when we migrated to office 365. I checked the Microsoft documentation and everything seems to be set up correctly to work. Am I missing anything that will make this work?

We will give it a go in a sandbox first and if it is a complete failure we will build a new VM We have quite a few different ones Groupcall which then runs a number of processes, Go4 schools, Evolve, ParentPay and a few others. I have started dropping the thought around that we should look at other MIS's on the market that are built for MAT's and on a SaaS model... we might also be able to cut costs by removing addons such as Go 4 Schools etc.

Hi, Not entirely sure if this should set in a server thread... I'm looking ahead and thinking I have three SIMS Servers and two partnership exchange servers to upgrade from 2008R2 to 2016 has anyone done an in place upgrade on a SIMS Server? I'm only thinking of doing an in place upgrade because of all the exporters that sit on our SIMS servers and the thought of spinning up a VM and then getting all the exporters reinstalled made me cry. We have already got SQL 2012 running should I also look to do SQL 2016 R1 SP1 while I'm at it? My plan is Use our VEEAM sandbox environment and test doing an in place upgrade to 2012R2 test it still works, then upgrade to 2016 and test it still works and see if the exporter services manage to run if they do and just complain about not being able to connect to the internet then I may call that a success...

@Edu-IT our price is for a MAT of five schools it came in at around £2500 I wasn't heavily involved so I don't know if that was just the first year cost or not and that price I think was just for the accident book add on I've no idea how much the trips part costs. And I realize that answer is probably completely unhelpful...

We used the Sharepoint migration tool to migrate files to the various faculty MS teams we have. We made the mistake of asking staff to move stuff they need from their own home drives... so the next academy for this we will do all of the moving. We are also using Foldr to give staff easy access while we try and get all our windows 10 clients to the correct build then we will move to the one drive sync client. We will also roll out Office 365 pro plus as this links up with MS team share point libraries better. I’ve been using sync client for quite a while and have the redirect setup so my desktop, documents etc are all redirected. It works pretty well. I also have the IT team share synced through this as well as do the rest of the IT team practise what you preach.

Hi, What data should schools be transferring to new schools, I have a couple of scenarios.. 1. Primary school pupil in year 6 transferring to Year 7 at secondary school 2. Primary school pupil in year 2 transferring to a different primary school 3. secondary school pupil in year 8 transferring to a different secondary school I think they cover the most common sort of transfers. So I know that from our MIS a CTF is created and that contains the pupils school history, attendance, assessment, name, dob, address, parent contact information, etc. Then we also send on a paper file of information such as reports, data collection sheets old and recent (my view is that these should be shredded when the data has been inputted in to the MIS), and in some cases we have had primary school pupils transferring in to our primary schools and the previous setting has sent over their exercise books which we have then sent on to the secondary school. We also send on the admission forms and some other paperwork which I can't quite remember what that is at the moment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks Nic

Our print provider advised us to drop biometrics as it would bring the cost down by quite a lot. We do know that biometrics work with papercut is just whether we want to keep paying for it or not. And seeing how other schools get round without biometrics for print release in particular for students.

Hi, We currently use Pcounter and Biostore biometrics for authentication on a range of Konica and Ricoh MFD's, the Konica's use the Biostore ID points and PCounter embded and the Ricoh's use the old AIT XPR Gateway setup which is just horrible and clunky. I find Pcounter quite an archaic product we are I belive on the latest release, and we have had some lets interesting support issues which have left me fed up with Pcounter. I'm quite impressed by Papercut and think it has a lot going for it. I would like to know what other people think and what their experience has been with Papercut or with PCounter. I have also been advised to drop the biometric authentication as that would bring the cost down significantly for moving to Papercut. Do you use biometrics for authentication or do you use other methods? Such AD logins or ID cards.

We have bought in a DPO service as a MAT, after me repeatedly saying I cannot be the DPO due to conflicts of interest. I have ended up being the liaison between the outsourced DPO and the MAT meaning I still have to do all the legwork I just have someone else marking my homework. Still not happy with this arrangement as I have a number of large IT projects on at the moment on top of carrying out all this work for GDPR. I'm hoping that when the contract fully kicks in the DPO service turns round and says no to me being the liaison. We shall see.

Hi, Does anyone know how to save the logs from a HP P2000 G3 using the CLI? I've tried show debug-log all and it just said Completed Successfully but didn't do anything... I'm asking for the CLI command as the web interface has been well over an hour exporting the logs. thanks!

We went with fastrak in the end, install was smooth, hardware is good, software is good, and the after sales support has been good.

I realise this is an old post now but how do you find the Fastrak system now? We are considering a couple of options and Biostore have come back with some very competitive pricing.

pretty much for student computers I am using a config file for the start menu but for staff I allow them free range of the start menu.

I kinda regret doing it as i stupidly removed calculator and photoviewer by using that script which I didn't pick up on in my testing as I forgot about them. However since testing the 1607 build it has bought all those apps back and I just have an app locker policy instead to control access to those apps. I have since removed the script from the TS in MDT

Hi, Just want an idea on how you ensure there are adequate devices in your SEND departments. I manage the IT for a large secondary school and we are looking at how to ensure the students and LSA's have access to a device. Currently we have 2 small classrooms with 4 student desktops in each room with 1 smartboard desktop connect to the smartboard. Our SEND manager is now requesting laptops for some of the children who require a laptop day in day out to prove they need one for their exams, which causes us a problem because of how we purchase kit and refresh it. IT is purchased out of a capital expenditure budget each year, departments are not allowed to use their own budgets to purchase kit. My new proposal is they do away with all the desktops and replace them with 20 laptops which effectively doubles the amount of devices they have and should give them enough to sign out to students on a permanent day to day basis.

I added this to our deployTS and it works, thanks for this. I have also enabled app locker to lock out some of the apps that it doesn't remove so all is good.

I have a windows 10 education wim already created by MDT which we have been deploying and testing. Has anyone put this remove app powershell script in to a deployment task sequence if so how? Or does it ideally need to be done on the capture side? Or can I mount my wim in dism and run the script in dism? I ideally don't want to go back to the start.
