Unfortunately that's Moodle for you, both restore and import have the same icon. Only a code change would correct this, attached is a screen shot of the default icon set for Moodle. Also attached is an image of the new Forum icon, I still need to source one or two of the icons for the Modules in Moodle.

As promised, and as the Moodle icons also look a bit tiresome in places I have replaced a significant number of them with icons from: famfamfam.com Really finishes the theme off - See screen shot below I might as well release the icon set as an Moodle Theme Icon Set once its all been completed. Famfamfam.com permission pending....

Icons currently in Dev, just making sure I have them all covered. Im probably going to use the icons from the esocratesorg theme, which can be downloaded from here: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=40778 But with it being an older theme its missing one or two icons which i might just lift from FamFam. In the mean time i've just added a javascript slideshow to the main page (see new screenshot below). Over the last couple of weeks i've been dipping in and out of Moodle trying my level best to create a Moodle theme based on the Joomla EduGeek Theme or I think what Joomla calls Templates. Obviously there are differences between the two system but I have managed to create something which i think looks pretty respectable, but of course i would think that. I have tried to keep the changes to a minimum and based everything on the standard moodle theme and built on top of that. Attached to this post are a few screen shots which should give you a good taste of the theme, I will be releasing the theme as a zip file once I have cleared up the CSS, PHP and Images files and of course added some comments. Feedback greatly appreciated - are there any moodlers out there who are interested in this?

Possibly because a teacher is not assigned to the course? Or because... There is a setting in moodle called 'course manager' this tells moodle which role and user to display on the course listing page. For most installs its set to Teacher, but if you copied the 'teacher' role and created a new role called 'hidden teacher' then the two roles would have the same permissions but only the 'teacher' role would be shown on the course listing page. Effectively you could then assign teachers to courses as 'hidden teachers' without there name appearing on the listings page, but for those courses where you want a teacher to appear use the regular 'teacher' role. Catch my drifter?

Just thought id update on this, im currently developing a EduGeek Moodle Theme, the theme will be based on the Joomla theme and should hopefully look quite similar, apart from the fact it will be Moodle and not Joomla. Heres a quick screen shot of what ive done so far: Not a great deal but its getting there.....

I presume what you mean is that you want to display the contents of the catergory to Parents in a simple list without the course summaries been shown? The post above is correct, without code changes this is not possible. You might be able to do something fancy with the CSS but this would change the look for all categories not just 'Parents'. All i can suggest is that you either create a HTML block on the front page of your site called Parents and link to each course, that we you have control over the layout. Or create a course which links to each of these course, perhaps a meta course?

Slightly off topic, but regarding the CLEO tool. Obviously it requires Moodle 1.9 as this version has much better user management tools, but doesnt it just dump in the students to Moodle and then create courses based on class code then you have to assign the correct students to there courseS?

I know this is not relevant to IT in anyway and admin remove me if im making a mockery of a sham... But, Im about to move into a flat which i will be living in for 12 months before buying it. Its a relatives flat and he is just glad for someone to be living there keeping the place safe and in good order etc..I'll just be paying the bills each month and thats about it. After 12 months I will be buying the flat, the 12 months will give me time to save a decent deposit hopefully 10% of the value. But as a first time buyer in 12 months time do you think i will have trouble getting a mortage. I know 12 months is a long time and this can all change in that time but any opinions or information appreciated. The martage would be no more than 3.5 times my wages at present.

Interesting, didnt know it could do that. Ideally it needs to be web based and not reliant on installing new software. E.g. Software sits on the server and schools get a gui? The design will be something that they will change yearly so once a template has been setup and saved then it unlikely to be changed often.

We currently write our school reports using a simple web front end and MySql database, this data is collected centrally and printed using php templates and css. We now have a number of schools in the local area wanting to use the software. To be honest I havent got the time to go and design reports for all of the schools and the other schools havent got any tech help to get it done. So, im looking for an ActiveX (or Similar) control that will hook into the database and create the report design. Some of the schools want to create different report designs for each year group. The tool ideally would let schools layout the report fields on screen, such as Effort, Attainment and Teacher Comment and then save that layout so any member of staff could save the report. Probably a bit like how M$ Access allows you to do. Ideally in time this tool would mean that the report could be generated in any format, HTML (For on site printing) PDF (For school records and reporting to parents) or CSV/TXT (To allow the school to import to MIS when one is in place). Hopefully a free bit of code or software is available as budget is tiny! Thanks!

I need some help, I need to reports to pull out some data for Students and Teachers. For Teachers it needs to include: Title Forename Surname TeacherInitials or DFES No Year Reggroup SubjectCode Class Pupils: Gender Forename Surname Admission Number RegGroup Year SubjectCode Class I've got some reports which do portions of this but not all, any chance anybody has anything existing with a screen shot or example of the result?

I had heard the BGFL were going to use Moodle, I know they have a transition project in development which is planned on using Moodle?

I like the idea of an EduGeek Moodle Theme to match the Joomla theme, I have done some fairly extensive work on Moodle Themes over the last 12 months but have never worked with Joomla. Ill get it installed on my server tonight and attempt to match the design to Moodle.

Probably not the right place to be asking this question but i bet somebody has the answer or can point me in the right direction: My GF currently recieves a car allowance which is a monthly payment of £400 and is taxed at her normal rate which gives her about £280 a month after tax. Any mileage she racks up for business she can claim back at 0.11p per mile from the company she works for. The thing is i know the Inland Revenue allow you to claim up to 0.40p per mile, is there anyway she can back the difference? or some of the difference?

I would use and have used in the past flat file enrollment, use a text file to give the ID's which identify each member of staff and then the Course ID of the course you want to enroll them on.

Im trying to find a convertor to convert .wmv to .swf easily, it also needs to be free. I am aware of Super Video Convertor but to be honest I have found this to be buggy and a little unrelaible. I need to convert .wmv movie files created by pupils easily and cheaply, it also needs to be like childs play as staff will be doing the converting ready for the files to be posted on the VLE. I know i can convert to FLV quite easily using some free software from Riva but i would prefer .SWF as they are small movie files of about 2mb. CheerS!

I think this is a real life line for any teacher looking to use the quiz function in Moodle. Currently the process of creating questions or quizzes in Moodle is not particularly user friendly but the link mentioned above really is a god send. Simply create user questions in word (Macros must be turned on) and off you go using a toolbar inside the word document. Export your questions and then import them into your question bank. The other bonus is that its in Word which all staff should be fairly confident using, also its an offline tool!

I cant remove office 2007 from my machine? Just says files are missing or corrupt and to re-install. Ive re-installed but still no joy, any ideas? I heard of a microsoft tool to remove office but cannot locate it?

I recently bought a laptop - Sony Vaio - with Vista pre-installed. It was al to much hassle for me to install XP as it involved repackaging the setup files etc... So i've stuck with Vista and im pretty happy with it so last night i finally sat down and installed all the software i need. Before i could complete all the installations i started getting pop-ups from IE and also searching using google staopped working. Strange i know but using firefox i just cant search for anthing on Google? I get the search page but as sooon as i enter a search term...Nothing! IE works but Firefox doesnt.... Any ideas?
