Me and the missus are looking to get a bit more exercise lol Were thinking of getting bikes and just doing a bit of cycling roud the local area, so it will be mostly road and a bit of off-road round the nature reserve. I know nothing about bikes and im not sure how much I should spend, I havent got a budget, so any advice on where to buy and what i should look out for appreciated. Oh and im 6ft 4 and 18 stone if that makes any difference lol

At the bottom of the profile is a button which says: login as You then return to the moodle logged in as that user. You can do anything that user can do!!!! Thats the best way to login as a student, teacher or anyone ( apart from other admins )

My only suggestion would be to steer away from using 'software' to learn css, try and stick to something like notepad, notepad+ or Editplus that highlight the syntax to give you a helping hand.

Also remember as Admin you can login as any user from there profile!

You will find that a lot of the security bugs come in at version 1.9+ so sticking with 1.8 might be a smart move, although there are more up to date 1.8 versions (1.8.7 I think?) With added functionality comes more security holes. I would defiantly hang fire on upgrading to 2.0, whenever it is released, i'd be using 1.9+ for a few good months before putting 2.0 as a live service.

I worked as a IT Tech for 3 years on very low wages, left the school to work for a company who supplied the school with some web based software. I was happy at the school but it just didnt pay well enough.... Based on the fact I dont have any A'levels or a degree or any kind of certification just my GCSE's to fall back on I earn 3 times what I was earning in the school. When working in a school I always wanted to be as far away from it as possible, nothing worse then bumping into pupils at the school when doing your weekly shop.

Has Moodle be confirmed as the VLE of choice for Birmingham?

The key, as i see it, is to get SLT/SMT/Senior Staff on side. At the moment the general feeling in schools is that the VLE doesnt have to be used, some staff see the benefits and are very much willing and exicted to be involved. I would demonstrate the VLE to SMT and show them the benefits of its use, how it can be used and how they, at there level, might use it. Things that help them fill in the school census usually work well here..... They next step i would take is to gauge interest, do you have staff in school who would be interested in working with the VLE, you might have staff with very limited skills who would be very much interested in working with it....get a grey head on board lol Once you have a small team together start to do a phased release, get the teachers who you have in your team to start working with the VLE in terms of there classes. ....Thats how i would kick things off, be interested in what everyone else thinks.

Do the classes get created automatically with the correct assignments? Meta-course is a long winded way of achieving what you want, why not just change the csv files used with the cleo tool? Eg, instead of English Lit, English Lang, English Combined, make them all English?
