Any contravention of AUP and account is closed. Not reinstated until parents have been into school with student to be seen by Head.
When this policy was first implemented, guess who was the first person to fall foul of this policy?
MY SON!!!!!!!! 8O
Not porn I haten to add, but finishing homework for another subject in IT lesson!!!
I would love to see the original contract spec. and hear how the company had "failed" to deliver!!
Two possibilities:
1. It was the councils fault by not specifying the contract properly (quite possibe), in which case heads should roll at a high level considering the amount of ratepayers and general taxpayers money that has been wasted!
2. It was the companies fault in which case they shouldn`t have received a penny, indeed should have been sued for breach of contract and costs.
Seems to be one law for.......etc.
"Bedfordshire County Council has paid business service provider HBS £7.7m to terminate its £250m, 12-year outsourcing contract prematurely."
If I couldn`t do the job I am paid to do (shut up those sitting at the back!!!) I wonder if I`d get a nice big wad to go away? 8O I don`t think so!!!
It seems nowadays that businesses can get away with the most ridiculous behaviour.
1. Take up a contract with a local or central government department, or institution.
2. Fail to deliver.
3. Threaten to sue for breach of contract when they get fed up with your failure and close the contract.
4. Get paid a nice big wad to go away because this is still cheaper than paying the legal bills if it does go to court.
Thinks: Anyone fancy setting up as an alternative to Capita? We can fail to deliver but make our fortunes under the above scenario!!! 8)
"The unit can also be fitted with defensive devices customized to the requests of the purchasers such as tear gas spray, robotic arms, or projectile weaponry."
OH YESSSSSSS!!!!! Now that would be useful!
This has worked perfectly well for over 12 months so I don`t know what caused the wobble. Works with some users but not the majority. Office is the usual admin install on server.
I too suspected it was to do with user rights/permissions so have run a restore from an old tape dating from when it was working (user areas and system state). Now seems ok but I would like to know what caused it. Will add the intervening MS updates one by one and see what effect that has.
Very odd!!!!
Story so far.......
2k and 2003 Servers, 2k and XP(2) clients. Office2k runs locally.
Folder re-direction etc worked perfectly......then......
for no apparent reason pupils couldn`t save new Word or Excel documents..... "Drive C: not available etc"
However, if they loaded an existing Word document they could alter it and save without problem!!
Have spent ages trying to solve this but googling only suggests this is a problem with update KB885250 and removing this didn`t seem to make much difference. As it`s an essential update its automatically re-installed anyway and the permanent fix is apparently KB895900 which would involve a paid support call to MS and doesn`t seem to address the problem we have.
I removed the Folder redirection from the GPO and then re-installed it. Some pupils can now save as it opens up their user area on the server and they can navigate to My Docs but most cannot even access their old work now as their My Docs is "not accessable.....see administrator"
Any idea what is going on????!!!! Definately seems to be linked to some MSupdate as I had made no changes to setup. Bit of a pain if they cannot save or access their work and the staff are screaming about it
Wickerman was brilliant!!!! Alabama 3 , Neville Staples (ex Specials) and Degrassi were astounding and as for the old weirdo himself (Arthur Brown).... he still has the greatest Rock voice despite his age. Bit disappointed by the Stranglers but Vibrators were excellent. I didn`t realise that Space Ritual were actually Hawkwind!!!
Best festival going.......suggest we organise an Edugeek meet there next year.
Anyone going to Solfest http://www.freewebs.com/solfest/index.htm end August? Peatbog Faeries, Saw Doctors, Popes etc.
"I've used GP so that the desktop is completely blank, with no icons, no backgroung, control panel locked out etc. All they get a the blue desktop, and there is nothing they can do about it."
Ditto............and disabled right click!!!!
