I am quite disappointed with Capita that they haven't chosen to go to bed with the right product. Being an avid Sims.net supporter, I believe this is a bad decision and totally agree with Ravening_Wolf. Sims.net has turned the corner, and this is only going to set them back!

No because you don't have faculty names included in the normal class name and the short name I believe has to only be 2 letters long. Have a go in Nova T.

SIMs.net uses two letter short name for subjects e.g En for English, Ma for Mathematics etc and its usually the first two letters of the subject. These can be reconfigured in Nova - T. The standard class set list configuration is usually with the X being a Group Number or sometimes a letter. 11-X/En --> 11-1/En Hope this helps.

I would just create a new comment bank with nothing in it ... that way you have a permanent record on Sims.net, and staff write the reports using the look and feel + you don't have a nightmare in collation and printing.

Sims.net Profiles does support Comment Banks and is good. Staff have used it and its even accessible to the non IT literate staff as they just select numbers. It also allows free text inside the comment bank generated stuff [if that makes sense]. It is a webpart for sharepoint which helps but unsure about the PDA requirement. AIM High software is good, includes comment banks but not as comprehensive as Sims.net mainly used for free text, which we moved away from as SLT wanted to centralise everything to Sims.net which makes sense.

Our LA support works using this formula: £3350 + (number of supported workstations x £105) + (PupilsOnRoll x £1.80) We're only trying to have a very limited number of supported workstations - with the rest supported in house.

We not using the old LM6 anymore it confuses staff ... I think the route should always be using the FOCUS MENU >> LM OR the TIMELINE. To access the Options you will need correct Permissions; and you will need to be in Sims.net not in LM6, although I think you can do from there too; [just to confuse matters:confused:]!

I'm sorry, I didn't make myself clear. Timetabling is usually done in NovaT, and a common reason why lessons don't some on Sims.net is because it may not have been transfered and applied to Sims.net SQL from NovaT. Lesson Monitor does get the info from Sims.net - but Sims.net in turn get the data from NovaT/Timetabler etc. Hope that makes more sense.

The timetable may not have been reapplied and sent across to Sims.net SQL. As for AM/PM have you checked the Lesson Monitor Setup in Tools>>Lesson Monitor Options from with SIMS.net?

Basic Binary is taught in the at KS3/4 in Maths usually taught in Year 10 or even 9. Its not an National Curriculum requirement in ICT though.

I personally think its an excellent tool, with kids really reaping the benefits. It is flash based - kids love it and learn too! Teachers can track progress on individual children making it personalised learning.

Many ICT teachers are not qualified in ICT, indeed I know some teachers who a degree is something totally unrelated and teach ICT up to KS4 very successfully. I believe that you have to a 'outstanding' classroom practitioner if you are too succeed; and if your interested at what makes an outstanding lesson.... from Ofsted!

Staff should really be using .net version which offers far greater functionality than v6 [which copies the access database]. We have no problems with Sims.net and Lesson Monitor v7. LM V6 should really only be used for the legacy reports as they haven't been transfered as yet. LM v7 is far more realible and should be exploited at all costs - all our staff have responsed postively, and the way we approach it is to use the homepage timeline, and double click on your lesson!
