I remember all of this too (similar age). At high school we had ice cream vans on the school ground, burgers, pizzas, chips, pop, crisps for lunch (all before Jamie Oliver and his healthy eating scheme). But I look back and there weren't many fat kids. And there wasn't in primary school where it was sweets all the time. It's nothing to do with sugar (even though I won't argue it's a factor), but look back and see how many kids used to play in the street and school playground no matter the weather. Now kids are inside all the time at school. Oh, it's spitting a bit? Wet lunch inside. Bit cold? Inside. Health and Safety has a lot to do with it. You can't do anything without it being a risk. And then the kids get home from school and play video games, uses their expensive phones they have had bought to play Angry birds. People aren't active enough to balance their weight. I used to eat loads of sweets, but I also used to play outside most evenings and weekends. You can cut out sugar as much as you like, but if you're eating more calories than you're burning, you'll put on weight. It's as simple as that.

Shame. But CCTV internally has been useful for when we've been broken into. Not sure if the Police caught them though but provided them with some good footage. Not caught anything spooky. Well, besides the lift opening its door at 2am. Could just see a big bright light from it (since the door were facing away from the camera). People claim to hear footsteps when no one else is around, but I've not seen/heard anything unfortunately.

No CCTV throughout the school to view?

M62 is a nightmare. Multiple times this year I've seen something ridiculous. Someone going 55 MPH in the outside lane causing traffic to undertake, cars swerving only to see the driver looking at their phone, lane hogging, no indicators to move out with hardly any space to, people checking their mirrors AFTER they started to pull out in front of you without an indicator.

I use SCCM for updates. It was all set up before I got here so I'm unsure as to how they both integrate and don't know much on WSUS since I don't use it. I've had a few issues with SCCM but they're more errors made by myself or my predecessor, things such as updates installing during the day or showing that updates need to be installed, but that's down to how they've been scheduled and is an easy fix. I download the updates through SCCM from the internet, but you can point to a location on your network if WSUS has already downloaded them. If you have created a custom search to search all the updates (eg just search for relevant updates to your network), when you highlight them all, right click > Download > Select deployment package > Download location. Here you have the option to download from the internet or a location on your network. For us, SCCM is the main management tool for software, updates, Endpoint protection. If you use SCCM often, it makes sense to just use the updates in their rather than using another tool to do the same job. Only thing I don't trust it for is updating Servers. Mainly because as we all know updates can cause issues. So I do these manually through windows update so I can keep an eye on them and make sure the server doesn't hang after/before a reboot and it's left sitting their for a day/night before we realise. It's time consuming, but I've had an important server hang after installing updates from SCCM (installing them in the middle of the night seems like a good idea until this happens and you get in to tons of missed calls because the server didn't reboot correctly). - - - Updated - - - I use SCCM for updates. No No. Definitely a ghost. Only explanation. Although the caretakers and cleaners have reported foot steps on the floor above towards where the lift is while there isn't anyone around. I haven't heard anything while being there in the holidays by myself though. But then I'm not paranoid about every bit of noise I hear. Besides seeing the things like above above on CCTV, I've not experienced anything else while being a lone. I did see a photo that someone took of something that looks like a figure in a room. That looked weird as it's a room without windows so there isn't any light from outside. Still could be light flare. Just looked odd. Although the person I saw it from seems to have many stories. Funnily enough I sometimes smell something that bulls produce when he said some of them.

Perhaps Microsoft can see your Radios have viruses and call you up to help you deal with them for the cheap price of a £200 iTunes gift card. I like watching the records of CCTV at night. Unfortunately no one has jumped out towards the camera or seen any spooky figures walking around, but I have seen the lift looks as though it's been called. The floor number changes, the the lift door opens, but as their are 2 "floors" it opens away from the camera so you just see a big bright light from the lift. This was at like 3am. Nothing can be seen and no shadows though.

My mum got told by a fish and chip shop worker there are also dodgy ones that they've had in. Also the current other notes have fakes that are coming out of ATM machines. Guy in the shop at the same time as my mum had his money rejected and said it came out of the bank. The worker said she's seen people take money out the cashpoint over the road, (still in hand from the ATM to the shop so no swapping) and it be fake.

You're in luck! Today is the National "Not a national day of the week" day.

4pm is my everyday! It's national 3:30pm finish day. At least for me.

It wasn't today, or maybe not that strange, but I had to clear the snow back when we had it. Not that I minded, like. The school had a Quad Bike attached with a gritter and snowplough so that was a fun morning. All up until the point I had to do it the old fashioned way. I should have said a server was exploding and left!

That's the same as most companies though. I can't recall any time a company has let me/family know about a better deal they're offering. And why would they when you're happily paying over the odds for something they can provide cheaper? Our ISP never tells us we can get X amount of things for cheaper. Mobile Phone company has never told me, or my brother, we can get more minutes/data for the same price, if not cheaper. The electric and gas companies have never done it either. And certainly not any insurance company has done it either! I'd like to know what companies you go with that actively tell you how to save money with them.

Ours is full of folder and folders. Nice and neat, and I don't touch it. We do get them to delete old stuff or upload to Google Drive before we add any extra space for them, so I think this helps. The student share is a bit worse with old documents but I'm not touching that! For the most part it's tidy. Only the correct members of staff have access, via AD security groups, to the correct folders, and for access we need permission from the Head of Department/line manager before we add them to the group, so each folder only has the required people in and then it's up to the manager to deal with them in keeping it up to Par. We only have 1 folder where all staff can throw things in, but surprisingly this isn't a mess.

1 more for Spiceworks. Most staff use it, but we still get calls and emails, which we direct them to the helpdesk or create the ticket for them ourselves. It just keeps everything organised, can see who does what tickets, how many you have had in a week or a month, run reports to help see what the most problematic thing is. So much stuff. They also have a cloud version if you're short on space/budget for a server. If I moved to somewhere where they didn't have a helpdesk it would be the first thing I'd get approved for. Or moan like everyone else until I got it approved, that seems to work for everyone else! I don't know why people would prefer to not have one, or use it. Force staff to use it. Create the tickets from their calls/emails until they realise they have this tool. Immediately respond to the people who use the helpdesk and take your time with the people who don't (depending on urgency, of course). People will start to realise who's getting seen first. And explain why you see the others first, because you have a reminder to do a job and not having to remember about it and to check/search emails for jobs. Makes life much easier.

Unfortunately they did all the work before I arrived in this job by about 2 years so it was too late, otherwise they would be back to do a proper job. 3 years after an install we're still having problems with one of them. I don't have a say in who we get as it's all down the building owners and who they have contracts with, but I'm going to try and get another company in for any future installs, especially if it's me that's going to have to support them. If they use this company then I'll refuse to support it and they can pay for them to come out and fix a lose cable.

As this has been bumped, please don't use these. They are the worst installs I've seen. And I used to install this stuff before IT. I've seen some bad ones but these took the cake. On the surface they look alright, but look in the Ceiling tiles and trunking and it's a mess. Poor, unshielded CAT cable, converting sound to CAT5 when it was less than a 5m run and could have used USB causing many issues and a lot of time/labour to sort, different installs for different rooms, don't follow cables trays that got put in specifically for AV.

This. How many shows are all the same kind? Reality and police documentaries come to mind. Sure, it's interesting (the police ones, not reality), but when there are that many different ones on all channels they get a bit boring. Cheap to film, great income generator and an hour, or 5 (Looking at you, 5*) slot to fill, why do they need to create any decent content?

I worked one job, private sector, where I couldn't take time off work during school holidays (especially the summer holiday) as these were the busiest times for them as they dealt with a lot of education sectors who wanted the work done in these times. I also worked long hours almost every week. Now if I had kids, how would I be able to take them on holiday? I only see a few options. 1) Book so far in advance to *possibly* get the time off in holidays but pay much more and possibly financially struggle for a few months. 2) Take them out in term time, save money, give them some memories, have a good time 3) Not ever take them on holiday for as long as I was with that company. Not create memories for them or see the world. Possibly have them bullied at school because kids will be kids. 4) Have their mum/grandparents take them but make them miss out on the father figure I want to give my future kids. If the pupil has regular attendance and isn't at risk of failing exams, a week out isn't going to do much harm. And also, why is no one mentioning that it's different for teachers to decide to take the day off? You know, like when they strike and schools end up closing for the day. Yeah, I know. That doesn't happen all the time. But if the student has a high attendance then them being out of school doesn't happen all the time. Schools should look at it student by student. Not send out automatic fines. If a pupil is off all the time, sure, take it further. But if it's once in a blue moon then they should be able to have it. EDIT. In fact, like the private job, even in this job it would be hard for me to get time off during the school holidays, even though I work in one, as I'm the only IT person in during these times.

May have just been unlucky. I haven't had any issues with battery until recently, but that's to be expected since I use it quite a lot. Depends on what I do with my phone to how long battery lasts for now, but I could do with either a new battery or a new phone soon. Girlfriends has been good too, she hasn't mentioned that it drains quickly, but then I think she got used to that since her iPhone was forever on charge. Lets hope this one is OK for you as it's a good phone, especially for a first one, until you can't get your daughter off it!

You need to find out what model and what build number the phone is first by going to Settings > About. In here will show the correct info. The build number should contain the model and firmware version, so for example mine says "ASUS_T00J_WW", so the T00J is the model and WW is the firmware. On the ASUS support site (or google like I did as it's easier to find it), search for the model number of the phone and then look at the firmware for the correct version. Some versions says KK (KitKat) some versions may say it's Android 5.x.x. For my phone, the firmware said it was Lollipop, but for my girlfriends it was something like 12.x.x for lollipop. Once it's downloaded as a Zip, copy the zip file to the root of your phone after connected it as a media device. Disconnect the phone from the PC and it should come up with a system update to install. Start this off and wait. Mine repeatedly failed the update as it was the wrong firmware, even though ASUS website said it was correct. Luckily the phone told me I was missing something (I can't remember what it said) and it directed me to the correct firmware download. That installed fine. My girlfriends installed first time without any issues so I think there was a mix up on ASUS website with mine, but luckily when Android failed the update it allowed me to restart the phone as normal by using the volume buttons to select Reboot. Hope this helps.
