I would suggest Malwarebytes and running a scan. We used it often when on the Genius Bar.

Take a look in System Preferences on the Mac, you might see a section called Profiles on there, if so, click on it and see if there are any Profiles in place that could be enforcing Chrome to do this. If so, remove them (ordinary users are very unlikely to need profiles on a Mac)

Yes, I hadn't realised that my own motherboard at home had TPM built into the firmware, but was disabled by default. It's surprised me how many I've spoken to have said the same. May not need to rush out to buy modules just yet!

I had a similar problem at one of my schools recently, I ended up setting up a Mac mini they had unused as a cache server, so they download from that rather than hammer the internet connection. Obviously not an ideal solution for everyone but I’m not sure I’ve seen a way to schedule these things!

Bit the bullet and treated myself to a 2TB Crucial MX500 SSD. I had £55 of Amazon gift cards my school gave me almost 2 years ago when I left them and I haven't known what to do with them so used them on this! £83 after those knocked a chunk off which isn't bad. Now I have plenty of SSD space for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Definitely get them into Apple School Manager and into an MDM, particularly making sure they're supervised as that'll allow you a lot of extra options to lock them down. I would find out what apps the classes currently use, and look at getting them through Volume Purchasing in ASM, and deploy them through your MDM, that's the easiest way I would say to do these.

Exporting the drivers with PowerShell is handy. I've written a little script based on this that lives on my pen drive, that will export the drivers and store them on the pen drive in folders following the WMI make and model naming so they're easy to find for MDT. I've even wrapped the script up in a little executable so it just elevates to run as admin automatically.

Apple as a brand are big enough now that they don't need the logo front and centre like they once did. You could start to see that change when the MacBook logo stopped lighting up. It used to be done to draw the eye in and get recognition, but I think they're now at a point where that isn't really necessary any longer. The AirPods Max are a good example of this. Super high end product, would get a lot of attention drawn to it, but the logo is tiny and hidden under the removable ear cups.

Imagine what the next iteration of the Mac processor is going to be like based on the M1 being a first generation product, I assume there's lots that can be improved upon. Having said that, the M1 design has been spun off from the A-series chips in iPhones and iPads, so it's not like Apple were coming into engineering ARM-based processors blind!

Agreed on the lack of Apple logo, the front looks very plain without it! Ok, that's seriously impressive! I've got the 16" MBP (one of my last splashes out with my employee discount!) and fans go mental on that playing games, not even heavy ones at that. Just activating the discrete AMD GPU and putting some load on it is enough.

I saw the new iMacs in person briefly last week. Colours look great, the design is pretty nifty, and yes, everything I've seen so far about the M1 suggests that they're rather good machines!
