Have you used it yet? I found it to be pretty underwhelming and not on par with the Groups app.

I am at a crossroads between Office 365 Groups and SharePoint Teamsites for our staff. Ideally I would like to leverage the file store too. Thoughts? Is there a way to deploy add-ins across our network? Also, is there a way to customise the office ribbon (i.e. OneNote) for all devices? Many thanks!

I guess the biggest requirement for our techno-phobic teachers is that it works reliably and predictably.

We've got 44 projectors that we're wanting to provide wireless projection for. I am thinking AirServer on a stick PC might be the way to go as we can cater for both Windows and iOS/OSX. Has anyone had any luck using a stick PC for this task? I don't think the Intel Compute Sticks have WiDi/Miracast but apparently the Asus VivoStick has Miracasting built in. Thoughts? Has anyone got any better ideas? I'm all ears!

Our district provided server will be removed next year as they district has transitioned to cloud document storage. Our dilemma is that we have approx 2TB of video/photos/files that don't play nice in Sharepoint 2010.Does anyone have any recommendations for a file server or NAS to meet our needs?We would have, at peak, 30 concurrent connections (i.e. one class) connecting over the wireless. It'd need to support our Windows AD for authentication. QNAP seems good but I've never used one in a our setting so I want to make sure it'll be applicable for our school's needs.

One thought, are those changes made on the Windows 8.1 computer stored in on the server 2008? i.e. If Windows 8.1 machine is formatted, are all the changes lost? Or if another Win 8.1 computer is used to update the GP will the changes be reflected on it too?

Ahhh RSAT seems to be the trick! I've got 2008 R1 But from using MDT / PDQ Deploy / WDS I seem to get most things done. Now with RSAT I can update our 8.1's to lock them down and get our bewildering IT under control. Thank you for the help - it's really appreciated.

I am a bit new to Group Policies and I have inherited a Server 2008. We will have Win 8.1 clients and I need to update the GPO's... can this be done on Server 2008? Do I need something special to get the Win 8.1 new polices?

We use configurator, all locked down which works great. But they are school owned so we can do what we want. In terms of our 1-1 student owned laptops would: 1) Have students login via our domain user for any school work / homework 2) Students use their own local account (regular user) ^^ Does that make the most sense? Is there a better option? All laptops are wiped when they graduate as it has our enterprise licensing.

I am in a primary school with a one-one laptop program (parents purchased the laptop, kids get them a 10yrs and use them until they graduate at 12yrs old). This year we ran it with the kids (10yrs old) being local admins and not being domain joined, it was less than ideal. It resulted in games being installed, wallpapers changed, colour schemes changed, toolbars galore etc etc. Small issues but they build up and result in lots of time wastage. How would you manage this kind of environment? I am thinking a local admin account and a domain account. The domain account is for whenever they are at school, the local admin is for home usage. Or perhaps no local admin access although I think we'd cop some backlash from parents.

We have a school network that is managed by our district. I am tasked with imaging a number of laptops and I'm hoping to speed up the process. Can I just buy a switch, plug it in to one of the existing ethernet ports and proceed to plug in the laptops to image them? Or will this cause issues? I can ask for dedicated cable runs, but they will literally only be used once a year for the new years' laptop imaging which seems like a waste. The existing switches are all in cabinets near the ceiling and not really accessible.

The laptop can have the same name as the student's username. Ideally it'd be prefaced with BYOD-username but that isn't essential. Hi, I am in charge of our schools one-one laptop program (about 150 laptops). I'm not really a sysadmin, just a teacher that fell in to the role! My scenario: I have created a Win 8 image with WDT and successfully edited/deployed it a few times. I feel confident with that now. I would like our one-one student owned laptops to be joined to the domain for easy updating/printing/file shares but would also like the students to be able to install their own apps. How can I easily automate each students AD account to also be a local admin account on their individually owned laptop? At the moment I am currently: right click on computer go to manage then expand the system tools tab, then go to users and groups, on selecting groups go to the administrators group right click on it and go to properties go to add and type in the domain user you need to add.... which is tedious. New here - very much appreciate any help! Thanks!
