1. This thread reminded me of this;
2. Why oh why must people send Christmas cards with a selfie on it. I can understand Her Maj doing it but it's just wrong for anyone else.
3. Agreed. One of the best Xmas' we ever had was when a bunch of us did a £1 challenge. No present costing more than a quid, wrapped in newspaper. People got quite inventive (& no, it wasn't all from Poundland). Back on topic, I guess some snow would be nice, cos the dogs love it. Other than that I've pretty much got what I want already.
4. This also might be useful @dhicks (altho' a bit off topic) Just when you get to grips with the 'Rule of Thirds' the Golden Ratio makes an appearance. 5. One thing I've always liked about Stone was the onsite nbd warranty which I've never been let down on. Out of interest are there any suppliers that match this for a reasonable price?
6. Nice flying, good vid
7. This article may help regarding the sensor size question. (Noise, Megapixel & How big are your camera's pixels? sections) LaesieWorks - Mega Pixels & Image Sensor Size, and their effect on image quality
8. Now £60 on my screen

"Price: £60.00 & FREE Delivery in the UK. Details"

9. I got a second hand Petri TTL back in 1975 and it still produces some decent shots. I think that film cameras are good for learning the basics. A roll of film is finite which kinda focuses the mind on getting the right shot before you run out of film rather than digital where you can click away forever
10. I'm back in IT after a break of 3 years so I've lost touch with a lot of my old suppliers. I'm after a midrange, robust laptop 15.6 screen with 7 pro for personal use. Just wondering who are the suppliers of choice right now. I quite like Stone's 3yr on site warranty but their prices are on the high side. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks
11. Find Service Locations | Support | SAMSUNG UK Hope this helps
12. As regards the firmware I was lucky insofar as it was a Samsung drive inside a Samsung laptop so the firmware was available on their site. I would guess that it might be easier to swap the drive out rather than faff around searching for a firmware upgrade that might not even exist. I've had a quick google for a firmware update for your make & model drive and drew a blank.
13. I had a similar (but not exactly the same) problem ages ago with a DVD writer and a firmware upgrade solved the problem for me. Have you checked to see if there are any f/ware upgrades for that model?
