    I have have the install ISO; no access to SupportNet though. I was sent the link to the file via Captias staff, with an enclosed 'password'. I have checked and re-rechecked my typing of it, but WinRAR wants none of it.

    Hi all, I've finally got round to sorting our new SIMS out, and have downloaded the Spring 2010 install release. However the ZIP file is password protected. The one from Capita does not work. I'm at loggerheads, especially as we don't have a support contract with them, which makes things ten times more difficult. Could someone PM me the password? Many thanks.

    Erm, Windows Classic is included in Windows 7? Desktop>Right Click>Personalize>Scroll to the bottom>under Basic and High Contrast Themes>Windows Classic then when it's applied: Right click taskbar>tick 'use small icons'>apply and you're done!

    How about making the laptop account (if it is a domain one) expire after the month, so that they will no longer have access to it. Obviously, this wouldn't work if they used the same account to logon to the network normally, but it's just a thought?

    Cheers for clearing that up. I'm running Windows XP Pro with 2GB RAM. I thought ESXi just sat on top of an exisiting OS. I didn't know that they actually made a virtualisation OS lol.

    I don't think Virtual Box or Virtual PC support virtual switches, though i'm now trying ESXi. My host PC is physically connected to my router.

    I'm now giving this a go. I'm using VMware Workstation, but looking at their products ESXi is better?

    I've tried pinging them, and they all come back fine I was using VirtulBox, but Im gonna try VMWare or Virtual PC (which is better) What would I do to set it up properly in VMWare?

    I have given the clients seperate IPs, and pointed the DNS of each to the IP of the server I have installed Active Directory, and when I run dcpromo it just prompts to an uninstall screen. Thanks

    Hi everyone. In an attempt to expand my networking knowledge, I'm currently trying to setup a Windows 2003 network virtually, with one server and two XP Pro clients. I've installed Windows Server 2003 Standard and setup Active Directory and DNS. However I can't join the clients to the server, i've tried changing IP addresses, and making sure the virtual machine has the networking set (i.e. bridged/local). I'm not entirely sure what I need. All I want is a functioning server, which clients can join and I can administer my own domain, trying out different bits and bobs etc. Any help would much be appreciated.

    I am a BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners student in the east. I've had a strong interest in computing and networking from a young age. At the college they run an RM CC3 network with about 600 workstations, 200 or so laptops and a few dozen lasers. Help out the network technicians with bits and bobs. Mainly here for the insane stories people have and how they overcome them. I was thinking of going on the RM graduates programme; has anyone done this, and/or got anywhere with it. Thanks, and I enjoy throwing my 5p's worth in *Yes, I know my post is ridiculously early/late but I can't sleep, and this is soothing me
