iPhones, SIP Clients, and Mitel ICP3300 systems.

Am looking for that at the moment in the new menu structure... that was actually the main reason we got the upgrade... -

It does... Release level 4.1, Software load 10.1.0.69_1. Currently using both X-Lite on desktop and iSipSimple on iPodTouch without issue, and the new "Personal Ring Group" feature is superb - can make multiple extensions ring simultaneously - eg: ring 730, and my X-Lite desktop will ring (ext 730), AND my iPod will ring (ext 725). The call gets routed to whichever gets answered first. Means you can have a departmental number where every phone rings rather than waiting for huntgroup to round-robin the call til it answers. -

10.1 is what it's being upgraded to and they've verbally confirmed that it will still work... -

Haven't a clue and wouldn't know how to find out - active software version is 8.0.9.18 if that's of any use (altho it's getting upgraded to latest release tomorrow) -
Tonight's farce in the House of Commons just shows democracy is dead... Digital Economy Bill passed, 180 something bs 40 something. Only 30 MPs actually sat in on the Reading. Shut your eyes, throw a dart at the polling card. S'about as useful as public opinion. Better install Smoothwall Guardian on all domestic PCs from henceforth if you wish to keep your net connection...

iPod Touch with headset mic running SmartSIP VoIP client, which connects via WiFi to our internal phone system (Mitel). Means we get email, calendaring, web access, server access (via RDP) and phone whilst on the move, without actually needing a phone. Those members of staff with their own iPhones just install the SIP client and connect them to the internal phone system also.

You need to design a runtime-image with the necessary wireless components installed... not easy for someone who's never done it before (which includes myself - s'on my to-do list). Adding the Wireless Zero Configuration Component - Here's the article on that specific step, but if you look in the tree to the left there's a whole topic on creating new images. But yes, the tiny flashdrive is a major PITA this end also...

Bash your figures (throw distance and whiteboard diagonal) into Find Projectors By Feature or work your way thru specific projectors at Projection Calculator Pro - Projector to Screen Distance

Had a play with one the other day - KPMS have the 130, and dropped one round for me to tinker with - the on/off cycle speed is SUPERB and loving the tiny footprint... think we're gonna be replacing our Epson S3's soon with a pile of these, and some BenQ MP776STs as appropriate for the short-throw rooms.

you need to add some empty divs as spaceholders using clear:both css to avoid it ovelapping stuff when the res gets lowered (eg: bottom of your main block before the separating line above the two big pics), but yes, fixed font sizes should also help... or a body font size fixed, then everything else using percentage...

Just got this from one of our teachers via FB... "Yo, Helen my house mate is head of performing arts at Cathedral and their techie landed them in the sh*t as he quit today, she has a number of shows on over the next few weeks. Do you know anybody who would be able to do some work for them (lighting and sound) pretty much immediately? Or if you are available she said she would pay you or anyone you recommend freelance work for anything you can do! Paul West their head will be ringing all the heads in the area to see if he can borrow any technicians from schools but Helen asked if I would give you a heads up (this way you could potentially charge freelance) Let me know if you can think of anyone Muchos gracios xxxx" So basically, Cathedral School in Wakefield have been left in the lurch by their technician and need someone to help out on the hurry-up to get some productions out of the way. Haven't a clue what equipment they have or scale of productions - would take job on myself but already have too many shows to juggle at the moment between work & personal interests. I can find out tho...

I'd go about the priorities question slightly differently myself... 1) Log all on helpdesk so that another member of ICT support can pick up whichever of the calls you leave behind whilst you deal with the first... 2) To get me in the good books, phone the Head (pref from mobile whilst on way to fix the classroom), ask for a quick summary of the issue, explain that you have a classroom down and will be round as soon as possible 3) Phone the Admin worker (again from mobile, on way to fix classroom), ask for a quick summary of the issue, explain that you have a classroom down and that the head has a problem. 4) Go fix the classroom that's down... 5) Take answers from 2 & 3 and prioritise based on their responses.

Got a few, but all multitrack... take it they just want 2 track 1/4" format?
-
Another one I now use frequently... Server Admin - iPhone version of MAC OSX Server's ServerAdmin - covers monitoring, stop/starting, and access to all service logs.

What particular diagnostic tools are you wanting to use?

So when are we starting EduSkeptics then??

Data Encryption
Marci replied to ayoward's topic in Yorkshire & Humberside Grid for Learning (YHGfL)
Last time I looked at truecrypt, it required users to have administrative access to be able to work with encrypted content... has this changed of late? We've been using AxCrypt where required, which allows stuff to be encrypted using a key file which we host on internal server shares which are restricted departmentally. All staff then use either a central or departmental keyfile, to prevent "forgotten my key..." issues. -
Moodle, with Guy Thomas' SMB Web Client block.

That's how I started, but we needed to monitor FTP, HTTP, DNS etc individually on a single box... so TheDude was the solution. Visually speaking, you can make it look however you want. That's just how ours is set as I haven't spent any time on it... there's a thread on Microtik's forum with more examples of users' custom network maps... Dude is fully customisable (I find the opposite to you, Dude is FAR more customisable than WhatsUp) - custom protocols and services etc etc... it really is ridiculously powerful, but takes time to utilise it properly and work out how to write your own monitors for specifics beyond normal predefined services. I'm working on a monitor at the moment that'll monitor all our BMS sensors for instance...
-
The Dude - use to monitor all infrastructure, servers and other mission critical devices... monitor multiple services and protocols... basically a big SNMP monitoring tool. See attachment pic of our network map... green = device up. orange = a service on the device has an issue. red = device down. We have it displayed permanently on a 36" plasma on the wall in the office, and there's a web interface so it can be viewed remotely or from anywhere on the network... which also works via iPhone / iPod Touch.

Last time I monitored it, it was using less than 100Kb/s to stream BBC... which is more or less same streaming rate I get when I do our own vids for streaming. So yes, your ex-colleagues obv aren't aware of how to compress for streaming properly. (1Mb/s for a video stream is comparatively ridiculous - anything more than 500Kb/s is ridiculous to be honest, unless you're streaming in HD) No, it generally won't work thru LEA connections as their filtering blocks it. We use our backdoor ADSL line. ISP questions - have a look in the forums at tvcatchup.com. There's a thread at the top in there that explains it.
-
Not really... you'd be surprised how little it actually uses. And yes, it's 100% legal. They've been operating for several years now.
