  1. Can you actually keep this on topic rather than just saying Aruba = better than Ruckus?
  2. To be honest, it would have helped if things had gone wrong as it might have helped him understand what everyone else is trying to say. You may have got away with it but you'll no doubt encounter issues by going 'Maverick'.
  3. Got a staffy recently from the RSPCA - they send them all around the UK from Liverpool and got told a lot of them are from fighting kennels that have been raided. They claim he's half staff/half collie but there's definitely a possibility of pitbull although he's the soppiest dog you will ever find.
  4. Here's a story of similar incident that last night reminded me of. At a party, the house was covered in glow in the dark paint on fabric hung on the walls. I had eaten a shed load of brownies that were present and proceeded to slap a friend because I was adamant he had touched my leg. No ambulance was called although I did have a very visual walk home.
  5. Try vodka through the eye.
  6. Reminds me of my sixth form an awful lot at times. Doing rediculous things that you regret and become known for.
  7. How exactly are Elgg and Mahara administration systems? Mahara is a reflective E-portfolio and Elgg is a social networking tool.

    Worms Reloaded

I'm not sure whether it's my game or just me. All weapons seem to do minimal damage and literally take away 1-2 health with direct hits. Any ideas?
  9. This thread is brilliant. I can't tell whether Mark is obscenely ignorant of the meanings of proof / logic or completely on a wind up to drive James and Localzuk insane.
  10. This thread is bordering on absurd. James - You'd be more productive headbutting a wall
  11. I'm capable at linux using the above methods but it often alienates a lot of the Microsoft trained guys - that's why championing Open Source is problematic due to the upskilling requirements needed.
  12. I'd be quite confident that you have far more linux knowledge/know how when compared to your average Network Admin. Doesn't help when nearly all courses out there are based on Microsoft products but it means that the 'average' NM wouldn't have the skills to go completely open source.
  13. @TheLibrarian Spot on about GPO's. @Putt1ck I'd be interested to know which company you represent as it seems you are here with a company hat on.
  14. Unfortunately it's based more around hype than educational benefit, which is the service schools are offering. There is a distinct lack of people with common sense in educational IT, open source solutions can provide incredible benefit but not in a full form solution. Choosing GIMP over Photoshop due to the pricey licences is indeed a sensible solution. However items like completely ditching any proprietary software in favour of Open source isn't a sensible option due to training/skills requirements and man hours involved. It really is a case of picking what's best for the job, not going completely Open Source because it seems to be a buzz word that falls in line with cost cutting.
  15. Then the article becomes null and void in arguing it's case. It should be presented as a white paper rather than a 'radical response' that will likely be jumped upon by by SMT/teaching staff and forced upon poor techies.
  16. The general idea behind the proposal is very sound but I'd question an awful lot of the individual points raised. It's very much a bandwagon response to cost cutting in educational IT and doesn't provide any measure of costs in manpower and training to support the ideas. If it had used base examples of costing and proposed costs in man hours then it would hold more credibility. Without these it offers little less than, dump everything your doing in favour of open source because it's free, forgetting the associated costs of the open source model.
  17. Not keen on the article, seems to suggest taking everything in house and that all of it is easy and requires no upskilling/investment. 'Get a box' etc - Oh thats simple, we'll buy a webserver and run everything off of it or 'allow students to use their own laptops' - good idea in theory, nightmare in practice.
  18. ObiONE KenobiNIL Entered!
  19. I have one without a silly bumper and the bars go up and down like yoyo's but it has never once cut out a call on me. Lovely little thing
  20. Hope your flogging the millions of FlipCams to fund it
  21. If you like this sort of thing - youtube 'Travis Pastrana'. He's done all sorts of jumps with kids tricycles and even jumped out of a plane with no parachute!
  22. If you had injured your ACL, by heck you'd know about it. Go to a physio to be safe however.
  23. Infuriated with 02 at the minute, to get a new iPhone 4 I'll have to pay £200 for the handset and then switch from my £30 a month contract to a new 18 month one with the same minutes for £45. Simply put they can swivel!
  24. Fingers crossed they offer early upgrades. I'm on a 3GS but will get a 4 either way but would rather they offer the early upgrade.
