Speak to RM sales, although the instructions are geared towards those with CC4 networks i cant see any reason why it wouldnt work on a vanilla server.

After a bit of advice here if i may, we currently have a Sophos web appliance deployed as an explicit proxy however with BYOD gaining traction I was looking at switching to transparent mode. We currently have a cisco 2911 router however its configured and managed by our ISP and all config changes have to be hand written signed and faxed across. So why question is this exactly what changes do I need them to make and what information do I need back from them? The appliance supports WCCP which i have no experince with but the available setting on the appliance look simple enough. Is its as straight foward as asking our ISP to setup L2 WCCP on the router to forward port 80 & 443 traffic to our internal proxy and to let us know the group password to put in the appliance?

ISPs don't seem to market the unconteded lines as much as they just guarantee speeds now usually using a speed checker between yourself and the ISP to rule out any "contention"

Yea just wait for them to stick a Cisco badge on the Meraki Kit and double the price!

Failure rate is no worse than the Sanyos, NEC's & Sony Projectors we have. The newer Signature series Casios generally seem more reliable though.

We've had a couple develop dead pixel spots however Casio have been excellent in sending us out a replacements while the faulty unit is repaired. We've never had to pay to send a unit back they have always arranged pickup and delivery.

We have a couple of 2910al used for iscsi, great switches I believe the 3500yl has a larger per port packet buffer so is better bet if you need to run flow control and jumbo frames which I doubt you will.

Do you think I could get hold of anyone on RM IFL today to sort out a router config issue... I've been told its been a right shames in Leicestershire with schools not sorting out DNS moves in time etc. You do have my sympathies however moving DNS and broadband supplier is not exactly a seamless experience.

Been using vsphere 4.0 for the last 3 years, not had any issues of note. Just make sure your all sorted for backing up the VMs and you get the relevant agents setup for the likes of powerchute, hardware monitoring agents for the hosts etc.

Information seems so sketchy around progresso and the organisation of schools migrating to it I doubt the picture is entirely clear from a serco employees perspective. We signed all the relevant forms and where looking at migrating next year but despite giving dates it just looks like names go in a hat. Communication is just utterly non existent you have to trade a vital organ to get an onside demo and we've still not been given access or permission to speak to any of the pioneer sites.

CC4.3 is a pretty stable and reliable product now so i wouldnt worry to much about the scare stories and the CC3 to CC4 migration will be a pretty well rehersed proceedure now.

Looks a good switch for the money, I'd possible be looking at the 2510-48g but then they are a bit of a step up in terms of price. 2910al is the entry level switch if your after 10gig uplinks from what I can see.

Replace the hard drive with an SSD

We will likely see some win8 tablets and potentially some laptops but I can't see a desktop roll out myself unless the new metro apps take off and offer something special that the teachers could use.

Hold down control and right click on the outlook icon in your quick launch and it should give you the option to test the connection. This will test the auto discovery and show you the failures, it's probably a DNS setting or the client trying to access your autodiscovery through your proxy which you can test by adding the autodiscovery address into the clients bypass proxy for local address list.

It should work fine using a standard staff user type, privillaged users are not required.

Its a 2003r2 DC but I'd like to aviod fudging something specfically for this server. Currently we have a 2003r2 storage server running backup exec 12.5 connected to an LTO 4 autoloader which backs everything up to disk and duplicates to tape and works quite well with the exception of the VM agents (we haved windows and SQL agents running on the virtual servers and these are fine). I'd love to replace the backup server with a new 2008r2 Storage server box connected to an LTO 5 Autoloader running somthing that deals with both physical & virtual servers all under a single EASY to navigate interface.

Umm as nice as veeam looks its lack of support for a tape autoloader and the fact we still have one physical server which we would also like to backup with an all in one solution could mean we have to look at backup exec 2012 or similar

Looks quite interesting whats the pricing like for AppAssure? We have been looking to replace backup exec 12.5 which will do VM backups (or just snapshots) but as i found out a couple of weeks ago it doesnt do restores from a VM snapshot very well. The new interface and reviews for backup exec 2012 do make it look more appealing than previous versions but veaam also seems to get high praise and the interface and setup looks even more straightforward!

A blow out/ clean up will be required with the casios but this can be done without taking the thing down. What i'm getting at is regardless of how great the warrenty and service from epson are every couple of years (depending on usage) you are going to have to contact epson to get a new bulb and take down the projector and swap it out which is just more hassel than the casio's if you have upwards of 50 projectors onsite.

Heads up the latest update to the sophos web appliance v3.7.1 lets you setup youtube for schools as a general option under global policies

Not sure how they would be applied seeing as RT isn't supposed to have any domain / management tool support.

The casio's go up to 3000 ANSI lumens and half the appeal is the fact that you can just install them and with any luck leave them for 5 years rather than having to deinstall every so often to change a bulb which will still be tha case with the epsons. That said if you dont care then the Epson EB-X11 do look great value.

Ideally you would have your iscsi traffic spilt between 2 dedicated switches for performance and failover. We use a couple of 2910al switches which have been excellent and of course give us 10gbit connectivity options in the future.

Loads of schools seemed to jump aboard Progresso from launch or so we have been led to believe, yet we still haven't been given permission to speak to any schools in the south east to see how its all going and communication from Serco has been dreadful. I do get the impression those who have moved across early are struggling, not least because there is very little 3rd party integration at the moment. The product itself looks good on the surface though.
