Hi I want to barcode my backup tapes, instead of labeling them and was wondering if anyone else uses this method? If so, how do i set it up in backup exec so that it works using the barcodes? The way i do it at the moment is assign a job to a particular slot in the library. Thanks

Ive sorted the the reason why the shared doesn't appear on the mac desktop, and basically i never ticked the box in preferences that says Connected Servers" I still need to sort why on the curriculum macs, the share appears in red.

Hi Doesn anyone know why when i connect to a windows share on my iMac, it doesnt mount on the desktop? It connects fine but doesnt mount. On this client ADMitMAc is not used. We use ADMitMac for the connection to AD on the classroom macs and on these, they connect for a few seconds then says cannot connect in the window. Again these dont mount the share on the desktop We even have the path to the shared in the "login" area in workgroup manager and when a student logs in the mount appears in red on the desktop then disappears! I hope this makes some sort of sense as im pulling my hair out!

We use the Hosted SLG here and we too experience time issues. Also on some of the web parts it displays the message- An Error has Occurred Detail: Sorry but the requested information is currently unavailable. Actions Taken: The error has been logged Also on one of the teachers, it displayes the timetable of someone completely different!

Im still having issues with what seems to related to PCE. Sometime IE7 will work and some it will crash, or freeze. They said its because sophos web scanning addon is causing problems with the PCE client and to disable sophos addon in IE7. This causes us issues as dont know how to centrally disable this add on. And i have found that when the user logs off, it doesnt retain the disabled setting. Im now resorting to taking the client off complete to stop users getting annoyed!

Thanks for the response Do you mean the sims.ini on the local machine or the server? Also the user isnt editing lots of records. It seems to do randomly and sometime when only editing one thing at a time.

Has any one had a user in SIMS.net having the same Fault Code come up and then will crash out of sims? The Fault Code is: 1066-0174-9900 Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation system reflection target invocation exception. I have phoned capita and the just is extremely difficult to diagnose and replicate and is a combination of local network and software config. Appologies for any inconvienience caused. Thanks

Hi Has anyone else had issues with Policy Central when Sophos is installed on clients? Forensic are saying the the Sophos Add on in IE7 causes the policy central client to crash IE7! Sure enough, when i disable the sophos add on, IE7 works fine, or when i uninstall PCE client and renable the Sophos add on it works fine. If anyone else has had this problem, how have you overcome it? Have you had to run IE7 with No add ons? as im not sure if i could do a GPO specifically telling the Sophos Addon to be disabled Many Thanks

Hi Does anyone know how to change the auto refresh in exchange 2007 OWA? All of our users now use this instead of outlook but unless F5 is press every now and again, user could wait upto 2 hours before emails will show up. Thanks

Will it automatically pick up my wifi networks and use them for email? and use the mobile carrier when it doesnt?

Im looking at getting the iPhone and i was wondering if the wifi turns off when it auto locks or when the screen goes off? The reason i ask is that im want to get a phone that links into the exchange server and purely uses the wifi connection for email and only use the the mobile carrier when not in a wifi area eg: school or home. I would want a constant connection to the wifi when the phone goes into standby. I do know that nokia have mail for exchange on certain phones which does what i need but i was wondering if the iPhone done something similar Thanks

Does anyone have or know of a script that would log a user onto a pc? This would then enable me to log in on lots of computers at the same time rather that going to each machine. Thanks

wont that just change the default of the policy? i need to change the advanced settings for all users

Just tried this and it doesnt change the settings in the advanced tab wheich are the main ones i need to to change. The advanced tab settings remain changed for the user but when a new user logs on, they revert to a default settings

will this change the settings that are in the advanced tab as well?

Hi I want student laptops to behave like a desktop in the sense of the power options but i cannot find a way to deploy the settings for all laptops. I basically dont want the laptop to hibernate nor do i want the screen to turn off or go to standby when the lid is closed or when the power button is pushed. The settings apply for the current user but when a new one logs on, it goes to the default settings. These setting are done in the advanced tab The reason i need this is so that we can turn on all the laptops and put them straight back in the trolley (Network cable connected) for ease of management. Im not sure if anyone has found a solution to this. Many Thanks

Just got off the phone to Forensic and they said it was to do with the June IE7 Cumalative updates. This then caused the PCE client to have trouble. Apparantly the IE7 Updates in June were causing issues with IE7 without PCE loaded. There is going to be a new client released which should should address these problems.
