I have just had someone from Capita detail what spec our new SIMS server should be and they said the server would need to have 30GB RAM? Is this correct? Thanks

Hi Everyone We have a problem with our windows 7 clients where the home directory disk quota is not apply when the clients are offline. For example a user has a home directory quota of 4GB when connected to the network but when at home it reads 256GB (the size of the hard disk). There fore if they store items that exeed the 4GB at home, syncronisation will fail. Is there a way that the disk quota will apply when the user is offline? the only way i have hve found so far is to limit the offline files cache size via GPO but this would be same limit accross the board! The file server is 2008 R2. Thanks

I got stuck with the SSO for RDWEB. I can login fine on the rdweb login page but then when i click on the remote app or remote desktop icon it asks me for another login where i have to type domain\user and then the password. What process did you follow to get SSO to work? Thanks

Im trying to verifiy the domain name school.lea.sch.uk but it wont verify saying "Verification DNS record not found" does this mean i have to contact the SWGFL and get them to make a change?
-
The MX record on the SWGFL currently points to the Easymail server so would this have to be changed so it points to the Office 365 server?
-
Hi Im taking the plunge and move a small primary school currently using RM Easymail plus to Office 365. techie08 replied to FragglePete's topic in South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL)
Hi Pete Did you get this working? Im seriously looking into BYOD due to budget constraints etc so could i pop over and have a look at your setup? The only difference with ours is we use Extricom for our Wireless. Cheers -

Is anyone else having issues with the support from Cunninghams at the moment? It takes ages to get through on phone and engineers are not calling us back. We raised an urgent support call after 8am this morning and i still haven't had a response. Is the support from cunninghams usually good?
-
I used to use Misco, Insight etc but over the last 18 months ive been using UK Computer supplies. Out of the 5 or 6 companies i get quotes from, they have been the cheapest. Their service, support and delivery has been spot on as well. My account manager there is Vince. Well worth a look if you haven't used them!

I just changed the session hosts to use the auto generated certificate and it now goes through quicker but i still get certifiate warnings for session host 1 and 2 when connecting to a remote app. I also have to enter the user credentials in the format of DOMAIN\username Does this indiate im using the wrong cert for the session hosts? Im just using the SSL obtained for the RD Gateway server RDWeb access logon.
-
Hi Everyone Ive currently setup RD web access which consists 3 servers, 1 with the RD Gateway, Connection Broker and RDWeb Access roles on. The other two are session hosts with Remote apps. Both the session hosts are in the same farm called RDFarm I seem to having trouble with the length of time it takes to access remote apps when going through the RD Gateway. It takes around two minutes just to load the remote app or sometimes not at all. I will also have to re enter the users credentials and i get Security warnings The SSL cert (not self signed) that is on the RD Gateway server is also on both session hosts remote app configuration. Cert name is remote.domain.borough.sch.uk so not sure if this is the problem Port 443 is open to the session host sever and i can log into the RDWeb page fine. Any help on this would be much appreciated as its begining to drive me nuts! Many Thanks

Hi Everyone I just finished off seting up RDweb access which consists of a connection broker/Gateway server and two Session host servers. What ports do i have open for external access on the SWGFL and to which servers? would it be just the connection broker or all 3 servers? Also with the certificates, do i just need one for the Connection broker or all 3 servers? Many Thanks

Does anyone run two FMS databases on remoteapp or RD Connection? We use and academy database and a school database where on the workstations, they have two icons which change the fmsconnect.ini on the local workstation so only one can be run at a time. I just wanted to how people have got around this with remoteapp and a terminal server? Many Thanks
-
Hi Im just setting FMS up as a remoteapp now and im running into the same issue. Did you mangage to sort the printer issue out? Thanks

Hi Does anyone else run a 2008 R2 terminal Server as a VM in VSphere? The reason i ask is that i have just set one up with remote apps etc and CPU runs really high at 90 -100% with just two users only running SIMS.net. The VM has 4gb RAM and 2 CPUs. Not sure if there are any best practices in regards to running Remote Desktop Services as a VM? Thanks

Im also looking at a Free SSL cert from somewhere, not sure where others get theirs from?
