As far as I can see you have everything correct. We apply permissions slight differently here, I have global and domain local groups and have a group for each share rather than user groups but it shouldn't really make any difference. I'm sorry I can't be of much help :/
-
User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates> Google > Google Chrome > Application Locale and then enter en-GB, does this work? This works for our users
-
What about the folders below that? Are they inheriting permissions from Data? I'd also check what HBPS has said too.
-
That's exactly how it is set here. Could you also screenshot your advanced NTFS permissions for the folder and your share permissions on root of the share (\\FILESERVER\Data)?
-
You shouldn't have to :/ In our GPO I have a policy that redirects the desktop to a share I have created, the students have read only share and NTFS permissions and nothing else. They are not the owner of any folders, they do not get the public desktop items and it just works. I don't understand what is going wrong. Have you looked at the Group Policy logs on the client?

This maths question is being cited by some parents as too hard for Year 2
KibosJ replied to 6Foot2's topic in General Chat
It can't be anything other than 65 :S If you do the maths backwards: 65 people on the train minus the 19 that get off (46) plus the 17 that get on (63) If the answer were 46 then it just doesn't work. Is it too difficult for Year 2 maths? I'm not sure -
I imagine we will stop doing them when this happens too! I have now got these ECDL exams working without any issues. Added the site into the Authentication Exceptions in Smoothwall and the connectivity issues have gone away.
-
That should work, what sharing permissions do you have set? Try creating a new student profile and then logging in with that, does it apply then?
-
This is what we do, I have a policy to redirect their desktops to a share and give them read only access, works perfectly
-
Hmm strange, just tried it here in IE11 and it is asking for the username and password details now.
-
I'd like to know this too. If I share a document via the "Get a link" and set it to view without sign in, people can view/print but not download. If you click print it does produce a PDF of the document that you can then save, but this is not what I want.

Are you logging into the RDS site with Internet Explorer? When I use Internet Explorer to log in to the RDS site and open an App it doesn't ask for credentials, if I do it through any other browser it does. We have moved away from using the website now and using the RemoteApp feature that is part of Windows, much simpler for my users.
-
Just trying that now, my Windows 10 images have all the features installed so I don't have to mess with this anymore. I suppose that is a little difficult to do on a Surface device though :/
-
I'm just looking at SCCM now, I think it could be this update: Lang Pack (Language Features) Feature On Demand for X64 [en-GB] I'll have a play with our SCCM and push this update and the language pack to a machine and see if it installs the speech features
-
I use MakeMKV, it is free while in Beta MakeMKV - Make MKV from Blu-ray and DVD
-
We use SCCM here but had a group policy that pointed to an update source, had to remove that.
-
Do you guys have a WSUS server? I found that Windows would never download any language packs or speech file while I was connected to a WSUS server. Disabled WSUS via the registry and then it allowed me to download the Language packs and speech files, then re-enabled the WSUS server.

company to set up smoothwall for us?
KibosJ replied to woodham's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Is it a brand new Smoothwall box that needs completely setting up from scratch or do you already have policies and things installed? -
Google Chrome Force Install Extension on Server 2012 R2
KibosJ replied to dhoward_westexetc's topic in Enterprise Software
I'll have to have a play, we redirect chrome userdata to the Roaming AppData folder, so not sure if that will cause more issues. -

Agreed, it's bugged me for quite some time now, hopefully it is sorted before I push RDS to all staff this summer! -
Google Chrome Force Install Extension on Server 2012 R2
KibosJ replied to dhoward_westexetc's topic in Enterprise Software
Hi @dhoward_westexetc Here's the chromium bug report: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=413889&q=rds&colspec=ID%20Pri%20M%20Stars%20ReleaseBlock%20Component%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20OS%20Modified Seems there are some workarounds -
Google Chrome Force Install Extension on Server 2012 R2
KibosJ replied to dhoward_westexetc's topic in Enterprise Software
This is because of the way RDS remaps the Appdata folder for users. If you try and install an extension manually in chrome on an RDS connection you will probably get an error. As far as I am aware this has been going on for a long time and there is still no fix from Google. -
We use Papercut and apply a weekly limit for students that can be topped up if needed for free. Staff all print to the department they need and these departments are then billed from their budgets.

Another here for Room Booking System from School Cloud Systems works really well for us!
-
Thanks, that's possible. I'll peruse the logs and see what I can find.
