We have removed the "Open File Location" option from right click for all of our users. I've had to use this method for quite some time now. You don't have to actually set the language as default though, as long as it is installed along with the language pack RSAT will install You can also uninstall the language pack and language once installed

If you have it working internally you need to edit the dns of your domain name and do the same as you have done. You need to create an A record that points to your public IP address and make sure you forward the https port to your server.

Right click on the website and then click "Edit Bindings" in there should be an option for "Host Name" fill it in there So I put in there hap.domainname.net you can choose whatever subdomain you want.

I didn't try it with http, sorry. I have removed it now too. If you still get stuck I can put it back on again later today, only took 10 minutes.

I set it up with https and haven't received any errors, I think it requires https. I have it setup so that the address is hap.domainname.net and then created an internal A Record in DNS for that server

I've just set it up and it appears to be working for me in 2012 R2

I've had to do this on our student machines just recently.

Within the Toshiba driver it is the focused setting in the attachment (Server Name) This is in the Toshiba Preferences and then the "Other Tab" Now strangely enough, some of our printers do not have this setting, even though they are the same model and same driver. Changing this from what it was (----Select From----) to Papercut fixed all of our issues with Windows 10 and spooling. Never had a single problem since

No reports of crashing here either

If you don't want to push out registry entries this can be achieved with Group Policy. The latest group policy settings from google have an entry just for this

I just tell staff when the upgrade is happening. We haven't had any issues with people still being logged in to SIMS and I certainly don't check, but we do the update after hours (midnight)

We had these problems. If you print from a Win32 App it would work perfectly fine. If you print from any of the modern apps it would either break the spooler or just get stuck. For us this was a setting within the driver that referenced our PaperCut server.

I was going to suggest this. Unfortunately I could never get it working, you could have better luck. I ended up setting the defaults in the actual WIM file rather than through GPO. Are you using a print management solution like Papercut? Our problem was related to the Toshiba driver and Papercut.

Do you have a domain controller with GPO? What make printers do you have? We had this issue with Toshiba machines and windows 10 and I solved that.

How quickly was the VLSC updated after general release? Will we actually get access to it on the 2nd or do we have to wait?

Thanks guys, So let's say I want to remove these students. In SIMS it tells me I can't delete them because there is data attached, this means someone is going to have to go through, remove all of the data attached to a student and then delete the student. This will take a long time. The more concerning thing for me is that it also tells me I can't delete them because there is System Manager data attached (their roles in SIMS) So from what I can see we would have to. 1. Remove all data attached to student 2. Remove System Manager roles/account (possibly even staff member) 3. Delete Student 4. Re-create System Manager roles/account (possibly re-create staff member) 5. Repeat for every student Is this crazy or just me? --EDIT-- Sorry, seems you can delete students without removing all of the data (this happens during the delete) If they are staff though I still have to remove their roles :/

So Capita have said there is no way to bulk delete them anyway, but they are working on something for this

Hi All, Just wondering if someone could give me an answer to this one. I've looked through all sorts of policies and things but everything seems rather vague. We have a member of staff who was at this school as a student and has raised a concern that we are still holding his Student Information in SIMS, which he can now see. How long are we supposed to keep this information regarding students? I've heard that with regards to Exam results we can keep it indefinitely, but others saying that information should be held from DOB + 25 years. Anyone who has an idea, it would be great if you could let me know. If we have to remove them that is going to be a job, as I'm being told this cannot be done in bulk with SIMS Thanks.

There are no where near enough policies there for us :/ I've disabled Edge here through AppLocker and have set Chrome as the default with its many group policies.

Sorry, I missed this. I've run the system requirements test, I haven't yet run a full test using Office 2016, but this bit works and opens the applications up fine. This is using Windows 10 Education with Office 2016 (64 Bit)

When you run the tests on their website it works so should be fine

Really annoys me when staff put parent/carer email addresses in Section 4, no matter how many times I tell them not to. Section 4 - Student Section 5 - Parents/Carers

Once you've assigned licenses, you could just get your students to go to http://portal.office.com, sign in and they can download from there.
