Stack of 4 - All of the main components have redundant links so I could easily loose one switch. There would be a certain amount of titting around where a particular device has one link and I'd have to find space for it elsewhere, but overall I'm confident things would be ok. However, if we lost our router or firewall we would be screwed.

Take a look at Googles' API's. There is a lot that can be done, including knocking up SQL databases. We still have some dyed in the wool excel users, it's not that Google spreadsheets can't do what they want, rather they just don't like any change.

The Chromebook yoga's cost us less than ipads. If you are considering Android/ios then Chromebook runs a lot of android apps now, has keyboard and has much better management tools.

We can change passwords with AD>users+Computers or users can do it manually, either seem to work. Are you sure the issue isn't that you set "user must change password on next login"?

It doesn't so much control other devices, it "works with" other devices. NEST basically works out your patterns, where you are, how far from home you (mobile phone info) are and controls the thermostat based upon it's "intelligent" information. Cameras, lights etc can work with it to only record when you are supposed to be out, or opposite for lights. There is a smoke detector too so you can watch your hose burn from the comfort of your mobile ( I hope not to use this feature).

I'm sorry I'm not really following. Currently we block pretty much everything tcp/udp to everywhere. Certain services (IMAP for example) are allowed out, but only to specific ip addresses. Everything else needs to go through 80/443 on proxy. Given that https interception occurs here I am not seeing what the benefit is.

So isn't the solution just ot FW everything except 80/443 which is forced through the proxy ? That's always what we have done and I can't see why this an iboss vs smoothwall problem. I was interested in iboss because of the wire speed filtering, but if it doesn't happen on https I see very little benefit so far.

Can't say I've ever had problems with vpn's and illegal downloads with smoothwall, which sounds like 99% of the problems experienced by @trekmad How do students get around the smoothwall filters ? So I can learn to prevent it. Is it an inherent problem with smoothwall or a configuration issue?
