  1. I looked at the bios and there is something to do with power management but not to do with what i am trying to do. the motherboard we have is a leadtek winfast k8s760mg motherboard. It has features like acpi function, video off method, but none of these options seem to work I am just wondering is there an option like a registry setting so I can implement that setting everytime a user logs on. thanks
  2. Hi I tryed disabling sleep and wakeup in windows in a it room in our school, we use roaming profiles. the way i amended the setting was to go to power options, and then when to advanced and then it gives you options like "when i press the power button shutdown the computer". i amended the settings to Do nothing. now it seemed to work for a couple of weeks but has now started appearing again, where pupils will press the button and it puts it into a sleep mode. is this a setting which can be applied in group policy or is there another way i need to set this up so pupils can not overide this setting any help would be great. 3. Hi I am not very good with perl but have a backup script that runs on our near side backup server. everyday it manages to process the daily backup fine, but on a weekend it is supposed to run a weekly backup but just isnt running and hasnt run since december 2005. My predeccessor wrote it and was wondering if anyone who knows perl can look at it and tell why it doesnt process the weekly backups. i believe it has something to do with the weekly occurances. the number may need to be set to a smaller number. Could anyone suggest anything. thanks. the attached file is backup.pl but i have renamed it to a txt file. backup.txt

  5. Hi I have created an internet policy to send out to parents, but need to design the letter so thats its an opt out instead of an opt in for the services. But as u know in IT, I am not handy with writing skills so am struggling a bit. Just wondering if somone might have already have done one and could give me some points. I want to do the letter so that parents only need to sign the agreement if they are NOT happy for their child to use the internet. Hope this helps Ranj
  6. Hi Folks Was wondering if anyone knew from a registry key if when someone logs onto a computer it automatically pauses the printer for a room and then the teacher has control over when he/she wants to give access to the pupils for the printer. I would prefer a registry edit but will consider other options if anyone has any. We use windows xp machines connected to windows 2003 servers. Not sure if we could do it in group policy. Any help would be great. THanks
  7. When sharing a teachers screen using sanako study 100 fragmented UDP and IP packets are sent out from port 2211 to port 6112. No. Time Source Destination Protocol Info 16130 51.649159 - 10.122.85.129 - 239.1.85.129 UDP Source port: 2211 Destination port: 6112 As you can see the source IP is correct and the destination IP is not. And the same happens with IP :- No. Time Source Destination Protocol Info 16132 51.649722 - 10.122.85.129 - 239.1.85.129 IP Fragmented IP protocol (proto=UDP 0x11, off=1480) These occur constantly untill screen sharing is disabled and floods the whole network. do other people who use sanako software also have this problem. We thought it may be one of our switches in our room, but we tryed it in other it rooms and its the same problem Any help would be great
