  1. On the rear: Cateye Rapid-5 or Rapid-X (£20)… in high flash mode, a pair of AAA batteries last three months. Visible for a mile… On the front: Light & Motion Seca 700 (£60), 1400 (£120) or for the long winter nights 2000 (£240) lumens. I've bought into these in a big way as they come with li-ion battery pods (£50-£99) that charge up in about 4-8hours… not cheap but on full power (they all have several stages of brightness) the Seca 2000 lasts for 48hours… visible for several miles in open country and when riding roads with zero streetlights… which is most of rural Hampshire, Dorset & Surrey. They were especially useful in the lowlands of Scotland… and France… and well, wherever… In the wheels: Monkeylectric M-235 PoV wands… These really make you stand out. £25-£50. The patterns and movement make people look out for you - which is the whole point [emoji6] 3xAAA last a week per wheel… Such a giggle… I've even fitted them to my recumbent… On the helmet: Madison bullets (I think) £20 a pair Then… anything else that makes you stick out… 3M reflective tape on the pedals, frame and anywhere else… for motion… always useful Ortlieb waterproof pannier bags in white, yellow or orange… (£70 a pair) your gear will get home dry in even monsoon rain And don't forget a respro hump (£20) reflective cover for your backpack - invaluable! For the eternally forgetful… a set of reel-lights (£32) for your forks and frame. These are magnetic-induction, so don't need batteries… they just show your presence… useful under limited street lights but not for open country.
  2. Generally speaking, depends on what iPad… If an early version (iPad 2/3) then the cameras aren't much cop as they're only 8mp so you have to have a steady hand… If later… like an iPad air(?) or mini, you have a better camera front and back… so may be able to get away with using that and the free app decodely… However, I do speak of experience… I've ended up with a couple of laser scanners doing the accurate scanning running over Bluetooth into the iPad. If you have the means… go to http://www.serialio.com and get a Bluetooth bridge and a handheld scanner (for iPad 2/3), for later you just need their Bluetooth scanfob… I have a Bluetooth bridge and half a dozen intermec sf51 laser scanners (cheap on eBay) for my database work… An hours charge keeps an sf51 going for 500 scans 30 metres away, working closer you'll get more scans out of it… and as they are very rugged, the sf51 will bounce down a lot of stairs or get run over or abused and continue to work… - whereas an iPad won't…
  3. A potential source of ignition… explosion… then confusion… …really think the marketing agency should have just said "no"
  4. High time something was done… There was a "no fly drone" zone at the Isle of Man TT this year covering the whole course… because of… safety of the helicam pilots… And yet… One of the TT races was delayed by over an hour because of some ejeet flying their drone over the course at cronkyvoddy… So… you can't be trusted to behave among yourselves, therefore… "fingers on lips and the lesson doesn't start until everyone is quiet…!" And to top it all… the islands currys/pcworld were selling them at a discount with a unique sales patter that included "you can watch the TT and follow the action!" Erm…… The manager was a bit bemused when I gave him a copy of the official TT magazine… it had a full page spread outlawing the use of drones for the whole three weeks… [emoji38] Those caught would be subject to all of the following: £2500 fine, six weeks jail, five year ban from visiting the island…!
  5. Traded in my Varadero 125 for a tiger 1050… in fireball orange… Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! Enjoyed going around Britain on that!
  6. Currently servicing and upgrading my Honda Deauville with all the bits I bought for her over the last few years… My triumph tiger leapt through its MOT in early January… Um… first ride out on me dad's Yamaha vmax will be a giggle
  7. Sounds like they've only got autodesk available… bit weird*, but anyhow, trace in photoshop or illustrator, ensure you've closed each path (otherwise you can't fill it with colour), then export paths as a .dxf file. Then they can open it into autocad and print it out to their plotter… Still lost? Mail me the image file and I'll see what I can do… *odd that a bus printer is only using autocad in this day'n'age…
  8. A man walks into a bar… ***BONG*** … it was an iron bar
  9. Advance warning that warns of a footpath ahead is closed…
  10. Ah… no, i need an RBC11…
  11. If it takes two men three hours to dig a hole, how long will it take for one man to dig half a hole?? ;D
  12. Erm… @FHS @elsiegee40, why double post the bodycopy? Perhaps one of the mods can help correct this…
  13. Thirded, a response was what I was after. You got me back into playing with Adobe illustrator again!
  14. *Bump* No response from the OP about submissions…
  15. Or did he? Papers are full of him stating “reports of my death are greatly exaggerated…”
  16. Proof that loud pipes save lives : )
  17. My Submission. Colours can be tweaked if required.
  18. I'll have to have a look at my ups notes…
  19. He'll have to get his bank to source the payments, not you… (so ditto last poster) You can only confirm payments at your end… not do his donkey work (putting it politely) The reference is just for his records… it doesn't even show up during the transaction.
  20. Then riding into and out of work becomes the highlight of your day… phone off, no music, no one can contact you for an hour or two… You become a xen student… at one with the bike… Mastery takes many moons… and significant clutch control. But certainly filtering through miles and miles of jams helps to improve your health and happiness!
  21. Parking security is up to you, but the way I see it, is that if I make it too difficult for them to steal it in 5-10mins, then they'll move on to someone else's bike. This has worked for me locally and in central London… Disc lock through the front wheel, chain through the rear wheel, engine block and centre stand, 2nd chain looped through the first chain (or rear wheel) and round a large immovable lamppost, tree, Armco or bikebuddy. Security costs amount to just under 5% of the total cost of the bike… which is a bit under what I used to recommend to customers of the bike shop I worked at when I was younger. Reckon on about 5% to 10% of the total cost of the bike. My other bike has an alarm, but I apply the same method as it has a more "desirable thief factor" applied to it, apparently… but still where I parked it so far…
  22. [emoji445] The red car [emoji594] and the blue car [emoji592] had a race… [emoji445] All red [emoji594] wanted to do was stuff his face… From… … trucks [emoji598][emoji598][emoji597] to prickly trees [emoji268][emoji268][emoji268]… …… enough to make you sneeze … ……… but good ol’blue [emoji592], he chose the Milky Way … For… …… it's a chocolate delight …[emoji515][emoji515][emoji515] ………all fluffy and light … ………… that ain't gonna spoil your ap…pi…tite! “Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmmmm!!!” [emoji39][emoji39][emoji39] [emoji616][emoji616][emoji616][emoji616][emoji616][emoji599][emoji616][emoji616][emoji616][emoji616][emoji616][emoji599][emoji616][emoji616][emoji616][emoji616][emoji616] Oh no, [emoji37] the bridge has gone! [emoji33] …… poor red’s too full [emoji15] to carry on! ⚠️⚠️⚠️ … but good ol’blue [emoji593], he chose the Milky Way… [emoji38]
  23. Darn… yes @ICTDirect_Dave, it has finished… But they regularly do sleep studies… Last one I attended was for double dosing melatonin to see how it affected your circadian rhythms… Melatonin naturally occurs in the body, so my GP was ok with me taking up the trial. The developed drug was used to improve fighter pilots alertness during long flight sorties of 8-12hours. Made £2000 for six weeks sleep! Result!
  24. The contraception bit is to confirm you're STD free, since they'll be taking blood samples…
  25. Give it a go… one of the biker girls I got chatting to during my first Scottish biker meet at Easter, said that she dived in and bought her first machine in Northern Ireland… she resided in Newcastle… Crossed over by air, and rode it back… one determined lady! (Ferry crossing optional)
