    We use Paxton Net2 here, alll be it with Biometric door readers instead. Very impressed with the software and it's pretty easy to setup.

    I think that's the problem then. Checked VLSC and I don't have any "Server with Windows 10" KMS key listed. Going to have to contact MS I think. Anyone know the UK number for Microsoft volume licensing?

    Was this an extra key on your VLSC? Because I'm thinking it is a mismatch between the KMS keys I'm using.

    We hit that limit ages ago with all our Windows 7 and 8 machines. Add a new one of those to the network and they activate straight away. Didn't think it was a 25 PC limit per OS?

    We are using the Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacentre KMS key that is located on the VLSC site under: View Relationship Summary Click on current active agreement number Click on Product Keys It should then be listed under there.

    Anyone having any issues with KMS activation of Windows 10? I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 setup with KMS that is happily servicing Windows 7, 8 and Office KMS activations currently. I read somewhere that in order to activate Windows 10 you need to make sure update KB3058168 is installed on the KMS host server, which it is! However when ever I run cscript slmg.vbs /ato on any Windows 10 Education PC is comes up with the following: Error: 0xC004F074 The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated. No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted. Please see the Application Log for additional information. Which is weird as the Windows 7 and 8 PC's activate fine! On the KMS host I get this in the KMS log: An activation request has been processed. Info: 0xC004F042,25,WIN10-TEST.coombeshead.com,bc69bd8b-4053-4e03-b0fd-6668ffe66b78,2015/08/10 12:05,0,5,0,e0c42288-980c-4788-a014-c080d2e1926e Any ideas? Cheers... Neil

    Does anyone have any experience with URL Rewrite on IIS 8.5? I am attempting to redirect any requests to Frog onto Frog and not really having any real success. The rewrite rule I currently have is: However all it seems to do is set the address to http://www.coombeshead.com/vle.coombeshead.com

    Yes we are running smart notebook with smart ink, so I shall try and turn that off and see if it makes a difference. Didn't think about that and we have only recently upgrade to the smart ink version as well! Compatibility mode has been turned off so I don't think it's that but I will double check again.

    Having a weird issue and hoping someone can help! Staff are using domain joined Windows 7 devices with Internet Explorer 11. They visit our Outlook Web App page running on our Exchange 2013 Server and whilst they can enter their username without any issue they cannot enter their password. Clicking or tabbing into the password field doesn't seem to matter. Nothing can be entered! Anyone experienced this before or have any suggestions?

    Sorry for the delay, been a busy few weeks! Well I tried that and it seems to work a treat. Have given staff full access to Pinterest (at the request of SLT). Setup a free business account for the school to control the boards and assign permissions to the staff. Then allowed students to only visit the school pages. Seems to have kept everyone happy!

    Currently we have a full filter block on Pinterest within our school but we have recently been asked by the Art department (via SLT) to see if we can lift this. Having done a little research it seems whilst Pinterest does have a policy for acceptable pins and does moderate to some extent they allow certain types of nudity for "artistic" reasons. One of the common complaints seems to be what is artistic nudity and how far can people go with it? Other comments suggest that pins are not moderated until a complaint has been made about the pin and therefore inappropriate images can still get on there anyway. On top of all this they have policy of nobody under the age of 13 is allowed to use the site meaning we would have to change our filter policies to be based upon age. Therefore I was wondering if you block or allow Pintrest within your schools?

    Yes we got 20 of the Epson EB-475WI projectors in the end. We currently have only installed one of them as the new build is still in progress. They seem to be happy with it and they are very smart and bright. Unfortunately the Smart projectors are the only ones that can do touch. As far as I can tell from our Epson rep this isn't going to change anytime soon. You get two pens with each projectors and replacements are about £35 I believe. We became part of the Epson Hub agreement as we purchased a few projectors which means we keep spare bulbs, pens etc in stock and then only get charged when we take one. I shall be spending my time at BETT looking at tablets no doubt! Neil

    During the demo they were pretty impressed with the software however they have not been able to completely use them yet as they haven't moved into the new build currently. They are happy to modify the resources they have to work with the Epson software. If there are any real problems we can still purchase a separate license for the Smart software to use on the Epsons and we will still have saved money compared to the LightRaise projectors.

    Most of the projectors we are getting are going to be for the Maths department and they actually like the Epson software that comes with it. We can purchase a license bundled with the Epson projectors for the Smart software if we wanted too but they are generally happy (for once!) to change over. The rest are for the head, meeting rooms and conference room in the new build as well and they will be fine with the Epson software.

    Having looked into the SmartRaise projectors we have decided against them. Our previous Smart projectors were based on DLP technology and it seems that the new LightRaise one is too. In the past our experience with the colour range and clarity over time of DLP is poor. We have compared them side by side with the Epson Interactive projectors which use 3LCD technology and it is completely clear that Epson wins. On top of that we get the Epson Hub agreement for spares, replacement bulbs are only £50 and they are cheaper in the first instance.

    For us it was the client and the problem went away after re-installing across the network. We are currently still on v7.00.25 v7 with no issues.

    Hi People, About a third of the school is being rebuilt and the money is not there to fit the rooms with Smartboards this time. We have been told it is cheaper to go for the new Smart LightRaise Interactive Projectors. Just wondering really if anyone has used these at all? If so can you give us a run down of how good they are etc? I don't suppose anyone in the South-West would happen to have any installed that we could come and see? We've also started to look at the Epson Interactive Projectors but the staff here are obsessed with the Smart software which now has a check for 3rd party hardware and then doesn't work! So not sure what to do really. Many thanks, Neil

    We don't currently install Google Chrome as it is not compatible with all sites (such as Frog VLE). Therefore to aid the calls to our office we'd rather not install it until FrogOS comes out. To stop the installation of Chrome Frame we use the Google Update GPO template, which I have attached: GoogleUpdate.zip

    Bit late to the reply party but... We use IIS8 on Windows Server 2012. Mainly because we are C#.NET developers and its easier to program account management pages etc. We do host some of our pages on Frog and just iframe (yuck) them. I also find it a lot easier to host multiple domains via IIS. With regards to Apache security I say each to their own. I would never run Apache on Windows as it is no-where near as secure as IIS in that instance. At last count Apache had more security advisories than both IIS 7.5 and 8 and several of the Apache ones were rated as critical.

    Hi, We are looking at moving away from the SWGfL as our ISP. Ideally I think we will go for a managed (DNS, domains etc) 100/100MB line supplied via Virgin. We no longer use any of the SWGfL services as we host our own email and web servers as well as provide our own filtering system via Bloxx. So we need an easy to use firewall that can be configured by the Network Team to open ports, filter traffic and traffic shape etc. We had been looking at Smoothwall options however this bring us to a problem with their licensing... Currently we have around 700 PC's and laptops that could possibly be in use at any one time. We have recently also allowed BYOD for the 6th form we enables them to add up to 2 of their own devices per student. In the future this is going to be increased by allowing years 7 to 11 the same features. This means that our possible live devices could be huge and there we need to purchase a system that is not licensed per device but rather a set amount not matter how many devices. Any recommendations? Neil

    "Cloud" is currently the word within our SLT. We already host internal Exchange 2010 email services that are fully accessible from outside. However SLT want to move forward in providing online file storage linked into web apps. We currently have Frog VLE and they already have basic integration with Google Apps and it is only going to grow in the next year. Eventually they will be able to log into the VLE access their files and edit direct through the web apps. They are working on Office 365 integration as well. They are also *very* keen on getting more than one student working on the same file at the same time. Neil

    Hi, Just wondering if anyone has a fully working setup of either Google Apps or Office 365 for Education that a couple of us could come and see? Preferably within the South West as I'm sure budgets won't stretch too far for travel! Basically we are interested in going with one of them but not suer which one yet. We would like to use email, celendars, online storage and web apps for word processing etc. Then moving into shared documents, desktop apps for syncing and when they have finished developing Frog VLE integration.. Our experience so far is that Google Apps for Education seems rather basic (maybe because we are on the standard edition awaiting approval?), not allowing Admins to see all online files etc. However it seems a lot easier to setup. As for Office 365 for Education, it's a nightmare! Can't quite work out how to setup individual files areas for students as well as team sites. And trying to get access to the Web Apps to create documents seems missing too. Thinking for now it will be easier to see them both running in a live environment. Thanks, Neil
