Hi, I have been tasked by the school to revamp the current website... trouble is I don't feel I have enough skill or experience to do this. While I have been picking away at bits of it, progress is slow and I'm starting to feel a bit out of my depth. Does anyone know of any good courses that I could take. Preferably it would cover HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL and JavaScript? I do have some experience using HTML and CSS before and I'm currently doing a course on C# and SQL so I'm not new to programming concepts. It would be nice if I could find a free course but if there is a cost then it's not too much of an issue as the School have agreed to foot the bill for it...

Hilarious Local News Weather Story - Leicester - NHS Sign
sfarmilo replied to sfarmilo's topic in General Chat
Obviously I was not talking about that. I was talking about of all the signs that could fall on someone it was that one... Grow a sense of humour? -
Saw this story in the paper yesterday and found it hilarious so I thought I'd share it with you guys. There was a sign that was blown over on top of a pedestrian during high winds, but get this, the sign was an NHS advert telling people to see their GP if they are feeling "under the weather" Man in hospital after NHS sign crashes down on him as winds batter Leicestershire | Leicester Mercury

Over the weekend I went and bought Fable Anniversary, with fond memories of the original Fable I couldn't wait to play it again "Fully re-mastered with HD visuals and audio". I have to say though, I was thoroughly disappointed. The gameplay just felt jerky and I didn't feel the HD visuals were much improvement on the old graphics, in fact I would say they were worse. Also the controls some how didn't feel right any more. Perhaps my memory of Fable has been rose tinted with time, but I have to say I feel that Fable Anniversary has destroyed the game for me. What I hoped would be an enjoyable nostalgic gaming experience turned out to just be a waste of £30... Has anyone else played it yet?

My feeling is that any teenager spending over 3 hours a day in a room on their own not socialising, is bound to have problems when it comes to social skills. As Pete10141748 said I think it comes down to parenting skills, and parents using video games as a child minder...

Going to give it a go just using FileZilla Server on a windows machine and see how we go

Seems to me to be the same thing every time I read one of these reports. The problem is not the video games, there are many more factors that contribute, but the media seems to be constantly blaming games. And they never seem to think that these children may already be "morally immature" whether they play games or not...

I have thought about this as they are shared but I think the students will just have to look after their own accounts and remember to log out.

I heard a Gregorian Chant version of Loosing My Religion by R.E.M a little while ago, that was interesting haha.

Think what I'm going to do is pull a report from SIMs then just use a mail merge

Images are all the same size apart from about 7 because they're the student photographs taken from SIMs. What they want doing is to have the Student photo at the top of the design, to do this it would be nice if I could have a script to import, resize and place the image in the correct place rather than have to do it manually for each student...

Hello, I need to create a jpeg image of all our year ten students of a kind of "App style" card that they can then write targets on. I was wondering if anyone knew a way in photoshop to import their images onto my template and resize them with a script rather than do it manually? Cheers

Haha, very true. Fortunately we don't have any staff iPads

Whatever it is we decide to go for I think ease of use is going to be the main factor. Bearing in mind that 11 year olds are going to have to be able to use it.

Sounds like its something I could have a crack at. Will have to try and convince the Network manager to let me have a go at it...

Foldr looks like it could be good. I will have to take a further look into it, cheers

Halo is fun for just quick death matches. Borderlands 2 has a good co-op story mode

Will every student will need a different log on, password and root directory as well?

To be honest I've never tried installing something like that. Is it hard to do? I would like to think I'd be competent enough to work it out but I don't fancy taking on a massive project.
