  1. I like the sound of that. We don't fully virtualise yet but that sounds like an interesting idea!
  2. I am currently preparing our disaster recovery documentation and one thing I am struggling with is how we could quickly purchase servers to get us up and running again. Does anybody have this sort of detail in their disaster recovery documentation? I did spec up the equivalent kit from dell but their turn round time is a bit slow!! thanks
  3. I'll take a look at SAM as well then. I just need to justify the cost to the Finance director as compared to GLPI, which is free, it looks expensive!
  4. Hi All, We currently use GLPI to track all our assets but it can be a pain when doing an inventory check, which we seem to do more and more of! Is there a system out there that maybe links in with a barcode scanner to speed this up? I have seen WASP but I don't know if this is any good! Thanks
  5. I'm sure somebody has already linked this but just in case have a look at this... Partridge Gets Lucky
  6. Thanks, that works a treat. I just don't use powershell enough!
  7. A suggestion that has been made to me is to send out a form weekly to staff asking them if they have any IT requests for the week such as booking a photographer for an event, a projector in the gym, microphones in the hall etc. As I am inherently lazy I don't want to have to get in every Monday and send the email, I want to automate this instead BUT I don't think outlook will do this without an add on. Can anyone suggest how I can automate this? Thanks
  8. Cheers for those suggestion Spuff.
  9. I believe that I am going to create some objectives and then ask him to come up with some and then see how we match up! Thanks for the suggestion there.
  10. Hi all, I have recently had my Performance Management meeting as a Network manager. I have now been asked to prepare to carry one out for the Senior ICT technician. I have never done this before and I'm struggling to find four objectives for him for the next 12 months. Can anyone point me to a website for this sort of thing or give any suggestions? The problem is that we seem to just get on with our job doing whatever is required and never stop to think, what am I supposed to be achieving! Thanks
  11. Can anyone suggest any fun websites to run in an ICT suite during an open evening for possible future students in a secondary? I have gone blank. Thanks
  12. No, but going in the right direction. thanks
  13. No I mean I told you it was a rubbish description!
  14. Sorry, my post title is a bit rubbish. We have all our students on a mandatory profile but somehow some students do an image search and get the old style interface while others get the new one? I can't work out what they are doing. Is there a url to force the more modern interface for everyone? Ta
  15. Hi Nick, I fill them all in in order but get no save button appearing anywhere!
  16. Just to show what i see when I get to the setup.aspx screen you can see below that there isn't the usual start using HAP+ button? Thanks
  17. I thought I'd start a new install and then drag bits across from my old hapconfig.xml BUT when i start a new install and go through the setup.aspx I don't see a save button to save my settings once I have inputted them, am i missing something?
  18. Didn't work but thanks for the advice!
  19. Hmm, recovered it to previous version and it ran fine. Dropped the new files across into the hap folder and I get the same error again?
  20. Ouch. I'll restore my installation and try again.
  21. I just tried the usual upgrade which is to remove everything from the HAP folder except the App_Data folder. However I had the following error upon browsing to HAP... What have I cocked up?
  22. XIBO works for us. Xibo - Digital Signage
  23. +1 for the chech in/out system. I have yet to find a suitable system for staff randomly come to the room and ask at the last minute to take a camera or a power supply. If we could have Hap running in the background at all times. If we could quickly add the item to the system and then book it out it would save us loads of grief later on when we can't find our spare power supply etc!
