Has anyone uploaded a movie from their pictures on an ipad using hap+? When I have a go the movie name appears in my docs but stays at 0k in size! Thanks

I just had an email from one of our SEN dept teachers with this interesting line... and asking for tech ideas, such as ipads, laptops or even a smart table. This always scares me when someone gets the money before having the idea on what to spend it on. I'd much rather have a need for IT and then raise the money for that idea. But seeing as I have been asked, what would you look at buying for that?

SSds may be a good shout. Ram is already maxxed out. No roaming profiles, mandatory here. I'm about to flatten a netbook and give it bare minimum software.

We have four trolleys of samsung netbooks which take an age at the beginning of lessons to log on to the network. We recently lost an ICT suite due to building works that won't be opened again until the end of 2014. As a result of these two things I have a bunch of irate teachers who can't teach with what we have. I don't blame them, the log on times are ridiculous for the netbooks. We have 2 trolleys of much better laptops that log on quickly and just work. Anyway, I'm trying to work out the best route to get some use out of these netbooks, particularly for some staff who want to use them for controlled assessments. Can anyone suggest how we could achieve this? Maybe flatten a group of laptops and have them off the domain, purely as word processors saving all work to memory sticks? Booting up straight to a remote desktop log on screen or some other remote solution? Thanks Reg

Hi, I just tried going from 9.5 to 9.6. I'm not sure what the error was but when I tried to roll back I got a similar error. So I restored from backup, upgraded from 8.3 to 8.6 but when I try to go to 9.0 now I get this error... Hi, We have been using HAP+ for accessing files for ages now, thanks Nick. I reckon we are ready to take it to the next level now and move from our current helpdesk and booking system. Are there any readme files for using these to get the most out of the features and to help with setting up the booking structure? I do realise I have asked this before, but wondering if there is anything new in the last year! Thanks

Hi All, I just managed to persuade a member of staff to use HAP to move files from her iPad to the network. However when she bulk uploads images from the ipad they are named image and therefore try to write over the top of each other! Has anyone else gone through this and worked out what to do? Thanks

We have been using Apple configurator on some staff iPads to see how we get on. We gave out an iPad to a member of staff who later realised that pictures cannot be transferred off a supervised device. So we though we would unsupervise it for her. Theres where we hit a snag. Unsupervising wipes the device but she has stuff on it she wants to keep, including pictures!! How the heck are we supposed to get those photos off, baring in mind that her dropbox is also full!

As you know there are many different bonfires to throw our money on, but the management don't always let us throw it on to the right one!

Hi All, We currently are happily running a Ruckus Zone Director 1000 with 20 APs to cover our whole school. This has worked fine for about 5 trollies of 30 laptops/netbooks. The only issues we have had have been with some samsung netbooks rather than the wireless. Anyway one of our future plans may be to issue iPads to a year group and the staff, so possibly 190 ipads throughout the school. My thoughts are that our current install may struggle, and then when the following year adds another 150 ipads and so on we might grind to a halt. Has anybody else already gone through this or are going through this? Can anyone suggest what wireless would be suitable for this sort of set up? Thanks

I ended up with this for the script until I can work out what is going on...

As a quick fix, for now, does anyone know how to set the proxy and exceptions with a script. I found this... Which sets the proxy via a prompt, I'm going to hack at it to just set it, but not sure how I can do exceptions as well.

I'm really baffled by this. I have a staff user who doesn't get her proxy set with our STAFF GPO no matter where they log in. So I thought I'd just create a new user to see if it happens for them too, and sure enough this new user doesn't get it set either. I created a new enforced policy to just set that but it fails too for both these users. I have used group policy modelling which tells me that the proxy does get set by these policies! I have other staff users who are completely fine and do get the proxy set? Can anyone suggest where I should be poking now to see what's going on? Thanks

I did have zimbra on the old Linux box, but is is truly dead. I have set up IIS 6 with SMTP on one of our Server 2008 R2 servers. Using the Microsofty office365 guide, but the mails just sit in the C:\inetpub\mailroot\Queue folder and never leave!
