  1. HAs anyone else had this issue? I am running moodle 2.5 on a virtual server with 8Gbytes of memory on ubuntu, having moved from running it on an old pc! Anyway now when more than about 16 students log in moodle starts to struggle and then gives up, and I get errors "Out of memory: Kill process 5458 (apache2)" running top before the crash shows an awful lot of apache processes. Is there a way to manage how apache manages its memory usage and amount of processes? Thanks
  2. Hmm, wasn't sure how to give this a title. We are having a maths competition in a couple of weeks time and we are trying to figure out the best way to graphically display results in real time as the quiz happens. So we are looking at something like a spreadsheet or similar that a teacher will update as teams score points that will then show bar charts or something else graphical on a projected screen? My over complicated thought was a webpage showing the results with a backend for the teacher to update. But I can't make that! Anyone any ideas? Thanks
  3. Interesting, I do have quotas set. I will investigate that now. Thanks
  4. Yeah, I have seen a few things about fat 32 with file sizes but this is NTFS and has over 300 GB spare! And I'm only moving, not copying.
  5. I am currently trying to move my users files into year folders rather than have them all in the one folder, to help backup among other things. However I am having a weird problem in that I can't copy some users folders due to the following error... Even richcopy tells me it is out of space? Has anyone else come across this before?
  6. I'm tempted to put this behind red door, but won't! I have been asked if there is any software out there that could translate outgoing letters into Bengali or other languages of equal importance to our Parents? I suggested that I wouldn't be happy with something like this as it could come out a bit garbled but I have been overuled. So in desperation I ask all edugeekers, does this software exist?
  7. OK, I had trouble last time finding one with working indicators or brakes. I'll keep looking.
  8. Is that a blue then?
  9. I'm looking for a car that's cheap to run and tax. This car seems to get good reviews and looks like what I need. Do any edugeekers have one who could warn me off or back up my thoughts? Thanks
  10. I wouldn't want to manage it. I'm happy for them to do that!
  11. It is horrible. It's not what the users expect to see and not what I want them to see. Horrible!
  12. Just in case anyone is interested I found AUM if you want a copy!
  13. Can any suggest how if there is a way to change the menu at the top of office365's ootlook web client to point to our regular skydrive rather than the horrible corporate thing that is also available? Thanks
  14. Hi All, i am currently trying to put together a SWOt for introducing iPads 1:1 in our school. We may never go ahead and do it but need to do this anyway. My problem is it is mostly negative at the moment. Can anyone suggest any other items to add in any of the four Headings? Strengths Weaknesses Do we know if introducing ipads will improve the students' progress? Student forgets to bring it to school, ipad lost or out of charge - how do they then participate in lessons A cheaper device, such as a laptop, could probably do most of the things an iPads can do but also has a keyboard and the ability to use office. One of the biggest iPad evangelists, Frasier Spiers at Cedars school of excellence, is currently looking at chromebooks for his students! Could the addition of all these devices cause a large work load to the IT support department. Would we need to employ an extra technician? Cost of upgrading wireless Extra hidden costs for MDM, extra training for staff Controlling the ipads in classroom, e.g. how do we stop them playing angry birds during lesson? If they are the ones buying would we have to ensure they had full control of the device offsite e.g. to play angry birds? Opportunities Stand out from other schools who do not have this sort of technology. Threats Angry parents annoyed about having to pay for the device Device become redundant before student leaves school? Would they pay for one over three years and then again over two years? Could devices be stolen when students are not using them e.g. during PE or on way home from school?
  15. I never found a solution!
  16. Sorry, I've looked right through and can't find it!
  17. I'm searching my documents, but I can't remember what the exe was called. If I find it I will let you know.
  18. YEs, I love richcopy, use it quite a bit. I was going to use that for the actual folder moves, just having the problems bulk changing the users actual home drive in AD. Think I'm going with Bulk User AD from wisesoft. Again I have used that before but wasn't thinking about it until tmc35 jogged my memory!
  19. I's thank your posts tmcd35 but thanks have disappeared as an option!
  20. I'm not moving the files far; same server, same drive, just one folder up. So the permissions "should" stay the same on the folders!
  21. Does anyone know the wildcards you can put in to bulk change user details in Active User Manager? For example if I wanted to change the users folder for one I would just put \\vs1\13$\13bloggsj but I can't find any documentation on what to put for multiple users. i thought it was %username% but now I'm not so sure!
  22. Hi, I am trying to tidy up my server home drive folders. I currently have all students in one folder called students$ but want to move them into folders such as 13$, 12$. Does anybody know of an easy way to do this or a tool that may help? I have magic mikes active user manager open at the moment as that looks like it may do the job but I'm worried about breaking the permissions!
  23. preview is enabled on her folder!
