As it has worked in the past it doesn't sound like this will help but if you go in to the Active Directory Users and Computers tool and turn on advanced features click on a user who is unable to log in and check that in the security tab that 'Authenticated Users' is set to read.

[windows phone 7] iPhone to Lumia.. Transfering contacts
HMCTech replied to fairm010's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
On my Lumia 920 was an app called Nokia "Transfer my Data" which connected to the iPhone via Bluetooth and synced the contacts. I am unsure if its just a WP8 app but I imagine it will have an equivalent for WP7 -
Windows Phone 8 is fantastic.

Ideas and suggestions for mobile AV requirements
HMCTech posted a topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We use a set up of pull down screens and projectors connected to laptops and speakers for various presentations around the school. It all works fine just looks.... naff. Toying with the idea of large LCD screens on tall free standing mounts but concerned about them being knocked over, the price to get a screen large enough to warrant replacing a pull down screen and what to plug in to them. If anyone has any neat solutions they have or suggestions that would be great. -
Have a problem at the moment with emails going in to deleted items and then staying there indefinitely. going in to the database properties and limits it is set to keep for 14 days and don't delete until backup is unchecked. All the mailboxes are using the database policy however the emails will sit in deleted items until they are manually removed. I am not aware if any other policies will disable the database > mailbox policies?

We had a similar issue and we phoned ClickView support and they supplied a fix for the issue. -
Has anyone got any ideas on connecting these to a projector wirelessly?

Nokia Lumia 820 if you don't want a huge phone. I got the 920 three weeks ago and I love it to pieces. Live tiles are good the lock screen is awesome and I don't miss a single feature of the iPhone and I now have something completely new to play with. Not so good on the 820 but the pureview camera is amazing and takes brilliant photos for a camera, much better than the S3 or iPhone 5. The Nexus 4 is also a cheap android one but that's on a very long backorder now.

Has anyone done away with the desktop PC and just had tablet projector classrooms?

Works fine here on Exchange 2010

We have had 50 casio bulbless projectors for two years now and the only issue we have had was as someone mentioned earlier the colour going dim. But that was due to the teacher sitting on the remote and changing the ECO settings. I would really advocate pushing for these models to whoever is pressing you to keep costs down.

Just out of curiosity why are you not going down the lamp free projector route? I see them as a maintenance free hassle and they have HDMI on most models.

Grabbed this from a windows phone forum Assuming the AVERAGE download speed of 12Mbit, we see the following: 500Mb allowance represents 5mins 33s of data per month (so 11 seconds per day) 1Gb allowance represents 11mins 6s of data per month (so 22 seconds per day) 8Gb allowance represents 88mins 53s of data per month (so 2mins 57s seconds per day) ...Even with the highest bandwidth package, you have less than three mins per day of data (potentially less if your speed exceeds the average). Let's have a quick look at what this data is costing you: 500Mb: £36 for 5.55mins is: £6.48 per minute 1Gb: £41 for 11.11mins is: £3.69 per minute 8Gb: £56 for 88.88mins is: £0.63 per minute

A friend and I went to the o2 a couple of weeks ago so decided to head down to the Olympic Park before the show we were seeing. Waste of time it was all fenced off still so I guess it will be a while before all of that's opened up. We also took the Ski Lift across the Thames, that was a 30 minute queue for a trip over some building sites. The return journey however was during the sun setting at it was spectacular.

Agree on the setup may not have been correct or it was not updated from factory as we had one and it worked fine and as good as any other.

Supplier emailed to say it has arrived and they are posting it to me for the morning. Hopefully it will be unopened.

My networking lecturer used to connect to his next door neighbours wifi when her 19 year old daughter was back from Uni, put in 192.168.0.1 and the default admin password and fiddle a few settings until it broke and then 5 minutes later he would get a knock on the door and would then go over there and "fix it" over a cup of tea and a good oogle.

Yes I am looking forward to ousting these staff who don't want efficiency, collaboration or working on the move they just want iPads and iPads the school pay for which they wont have soon. We have ordered two of the RT's to see what they are like and if they are any better than an iPad. And to test out Office 2013 which can link our domain accounts to SkyDrive accounts so the more mobile of users can save to SkyDrive from Office 2013 and open on the RT and visa versa. This may or may not work but worth a try for those that don't require a full Surface Pro.
-
Someone may know more but I always believed that the RT was the one you had at home and used for personal use and was the iPad equivalent. The advantage for a school or enterprise was the Surface Pro and the ability to join to the domain, be managed centrally and give access to what all middle managers are "desperate" for. Access to documents, collaboration and be more efficient. So I am looking forward to January when we take away their iPads and give them Surface Pro's as they tick all their initial requirements for a tablet where as the iPad ticked less than 20% of what they wanted them for.

Somewhat agree and I also felt the same on the Windows 8 Phones especially their premium make or break Nokia Lumia 920.
