Hi, When you send an email to, say, four art classes, the recipients box(es) populate with the names of people in those classes which is useful. However would it be possible to have a tick box/radio box to say 'Show groups' (or 'show breakdown') so if I get broken off and can't remember which groups I've added, I can switch views. If I've added some groups and some individuals, then the individuals should still show on the groups so I can see exactly who I've selected. (The four art classes plus these three A* Graphics students plus these four Teachers, for example) Peter

Hi, I regularly get an email saying 'can you send this letter to the attached list of people'. If I suspect the list is one or more groups from SIMS, I check with sender and use the relevant group in Schoolcomms if so. But often it isn't, so I have to find each person manually. Have Schoolcomms considered a quick importer that takes either a copy/pasted text list of names (& forms?) or a CSV/XLS, and parses any matching persons into the recipients box (having asked whether to send to Parents, Members, Teachers etc). It would have to chuck up a list (preferably non-modal) of unmatched people for us to find manually, but would cut out a huge load of work. Peter

Do you have one domain, or more than one? Are your outgoing emails correctly going from the email address you expect, or are they going out from a domain you only use internally (for example)? Thus when they write a new email to you, they address it to [email protected], but when you send an email out it goes from [email protected] so when they reply, the reply tries to go to [email protected] which is configured to only allow internal emails? Unfortunately I've not done routing commands on Procurve as our core switch is Cisco. On Cisco it's an Access-List rule such as: access-list 101 permit udp 7 all (That's off top of my head) I'm sure someone else will have done Procurve version.

Actually... I think now you've got SSUseHKLM, there's a key which says something like Room="\room.ini" Therefore I think I just had one, READ-ONLY, copy of each rooms files on a network share (RMPublic>RMTutor), which this regkey pointed to. Peter

Pretty much what I did - but - there is a reg key you can set so that all these settings/locations are per PC, not per User. Then you only need a one-time or startup script instead if login script which is much more suitable. Unfortunately I can't remember it, but it's something like 'UseHKLM' which you put as a custom reg policy in user types in RMMC. Peter

We have 7 VLANs for PCs per location, plus say another 6 for other seperation/security purposes. Only have each VLAN presented on the switches where they are needed. Been trying HP PCM over 12 months but it's crashed my network every time without fail, so definitely interested in Device Expert - not come across that.

Hi Mike, Have you looked on the NetSupport website - RM Tutor 4 is their rebadged product. You can do what you're asking with the use of profiles, but it's 18 months since I touched it - moved to Impero - so I can't remember how we did it. Peter

Sorry, could you explain a 'wide area bonjour (non multicast)' please? I'm not sure what you're talking about, to be able to answer the question. The 9.7 release listens for specified Bonjour traffic (eg AirPlay in our scenario) on one VLAN and rebroadcasts it on another VLAN. You can create more than one rule, say for more VLANs or for AirPrint. (Edit: The ZD doesn't need to know about the VLANs, ie they don't have to be wifi VLANs - we use it for AirPlay traffic from our PCs running AirServer on PC VLANs) Does this help? Peter

I'd echo most of the replies here. I'd used two or three products for remote control & classroom / network management before getting Impero. Don't use all of it, but often when I think 'I wonder if I can do xyz on my network', Impero seem to have got there before me. Can't fault their support either.

Doh, I knew that - at some point in the past. Is it possible to add the Time to that report in the future; we often send out multiple emails per day so sometimes won't know which email needs a paper copy. Peter

Speaking to someone at Capita yesterday, the idea that this App would be available without SLG seemed to be more of a 'yes, soon' than a 'oh, people at BETT don't like it being with SLG, let's think about it'. So here's hoping it will be available SLG-less say by Summer? (Or, knowing Capita, sometime in September?)

It does, but to be honest I'd be happy changing the ReplyTo address to our Schoolcomms inbound address ([email protected]) and having Schoolcomms process it like it does with Attendance messages. "If email is a bounce message, send details to . If email is a manual reply, auto-respond saying 'Please re-read your email which quite clearly tells you we won't read replies, then contact the person addressed at the bottom of the email'. Hi, Currently when emails are sent out with Schoolcomms, any bounce messages come back to me. Would it be possible for Schoolcomms to intercept these in some way and process each one into a name and/or CSV of the person. When we send emails, we get a CSV of parents who haven't got email addresses, containing the students name. Then a few moments later we receive half a dozen emails from invalid/full mailboxes - we have to open the email, then the attached original mail to find the 'To' name (ie parents name), then look them up in SIMS and find which child(ren) they are the parent of - it would be great if Schoolcomms could somehow intercept them and calculate the student's name in much the same way we do.
