Hi, We are trying to add our OSXServer as an Open directory server in Smoothwall under the 'Directories' section so that we can utilise Kerberos. Anybody got any pointers in setting it up, for some reason whatever you do it does not recognise the LDAP username and password.

What were the permissions?

You need to open script editor, Put the following code in, (Amend to your own details) tell application "System Events" tell current user set fn to full name try mount volume "smb://share.yourdomain/yourfolder/yoursubfolder/" & fn end try end tell end tell Export the script as an application and place in the /USR/BIN folder. Now in Profile manager go to Login Items for users and under Items put the path to the login app. e.g. This will now map the home drive onto the desktop.

Anybody managed to get a web shortcut working on the dock in Yosemite profile manager. Any tips much appreciated.

OK Finally managed to crack getting the home folder to appear on the desktop by running a file in the app manger.

Would it be possible to see a copy of your login script and what dockutil do you use? Cheers

Hi, Does anybody have an example of a good login script that I can use to map a users SMB home drive and shared drive to the Yosemite desktop and any instructions on where to place it. Had enough of Yosemite profile manager and home folders trying to get them to appear.

We use PDQ deploy for deploying software. Very good. What I am after is a piece of software that shows who is currently logged on to the network so that when I shutdown at the end of the day I don't shutdown logged on users.

Hi, What are people using to see who is logged in to the workstations on their domains. Just interested when we go to a vanilla domain setup.

Yes used them twice after visiting the Bett show. Got a UF75 and UF55 bulb delivered within 2 days of ordering and they were about 50% cheaper. Quality of bulbs looks good and all seems to be working fine. Obviously not sure about longevity yet but so far very happy with them.

Hi, Thanks for the information. Have got a shared drive mapped to the desktop and think will go with the option of a login script for the home drive. Last challenge now is setting Safari homepage and Office 2011 first run settings.

So does your network home folder show in the dock. Have mine setup exactly the same but still cannot get home to show in dock. Do your smb network shares show in dock or on desktop?

Hi, Thanks for tips. Have all that activated. Can you send me some screen shots of your profile manager setup. 1 from the dock settings and 1 from the login settings. If I put a tick in 'put homefolder on startup disk' then the network home folder maps correctly to the dock but as soon as I take it out it goes.

Yes ours are mapped \\server\students\homedrive. Do you have profile details in the properties box of active directory. How did you resolve without resharing?

Hi, We have got a 70 Macs bound to Active directory and using a Yosemite server with Profile Manager configured. All works well, the Profile Manager does it's job, the Macs receive push notifications and the Home folder and shared drives get mapped but the only problem we seem to be having is that the network home folder and student shared folder from the Windows servers do not appear in the dock. When they are mapped in the Login items and dock items they just appear as a question mark. Have got 'Unc path from Active Directory etc' ticked and 'Force local home directory' unticked. In profile manager have got Network home ticked under dock items. Any help most appreciated.

OK hopefully last question on Profile Manager. All seems to be working fine. Can roll out policies, enrol devices etc but I have amended a policy and removed 3 settings and now in Active Tasks the policy to remove settings is either pending or in progress for 5 users. I can still amend an existing policy by adding but not remove settings. Any ideas?

I would remove profile manager and start again. I did not setup Open Directory first but let it get setup during the setup of Profile manager. Make sure the Apple Push notification ports are open for all your devices otherwise it will not push the profiles out.

Hi, One thing I have noticed is that when I remove the tick from 'Force local home directory on startup disk' then it does not put the windows home drive on the dock but if I put it back in then the home drive shows again. I have got a tick in 'Use UNC path from Active Directory etc'.

Hi, Many thanks for that. Have applied the read/list permissions and now have full home drive access for the students. Just setting up my OSX OD server to control the preferences so should be all good to go after that. Many thanks for your assistance.

Hi, Thanks for that. So if my students home folders are mapped to \\file-server\students\studentname do I need to allow all year groups read/list etc access at the students level and not on the individual folder level?

Hi, Looking for a bit of advice with the wonderful Mac Golden triangle. Am trying to integrate our Macs into Active Directory. Have done all the things that are recommended: i.e. Joined the Mac into Active Directory with Directory Utility. Put a tick in advanced settings for 'Force local home directory on startup disk' and 'Use UNC path from Active Directory to derive network home location' etc but when you login I keep getting 'There was a problem connecting to the server 'file-server', You do not have permission to access this server'. Anybody got any advice or ideas would be much appreciated.
