  1. Hi, Has anybody worked out how to disable or amend the Power Users Menu when you right click on the start menu? Cheers
  2. Many thanks for all the replies. Turned out to be a defective networking config file on the Smoothwall UTM 1000 device. All sorted. Out of interest PeterH what method do you use now?
  3. Yes the clients pickup the 192.168 address from the DHCP server which is VLAN'd seperatly from the rest of the school. We then use transparent proxying so that they use their active directory user names and passwords. All was working well until the Smoothwall was restarted last week. I can ping the network interface from a client which proves that the DHCP is working but I cannot do a NSLookup for any internet pages which indicates it might be a DNS issue.
  4. Yes we have that applied but the SSL login page does not appear. I can ping the ip address of the interface as well.
  5. Many thanks for that. Have now setup a VLAN interface which has resolved that problem. Only problem we have not is that the SSL login page does not show therefore cannot connect to the internet!!!!
  6. Any help would be appreciated on my issue. We have a BYOD setup for Sixth Form students. On our Smoothwall UTM 1000 we have setup a second network interface and assigned a 192.168 address to it. We have also setup a DHCP server to issue addressess in the 192.168 range through interface 1. We then have a transparant proxy policy setup on the smoothwall to do SSL login for the students and on our Meru controller we have a Sixth Form wireless network setup which is VLAN'ed seperatly to our main school network. The problem we are experiencing at the moment is after a Smoothwall shutdown we have noticed that the Smoothwall DHCP server is issuing 192.168 addressess to the main school network which obviously it shouldn't as the main school network is on a seperate VLAN.
  7. Anyone managed to get the Office 2016 ODT tool working. Any tips would be appreciated.
  8. Hi, we have pretty much the same setup as yourself and tried to implement the Proxy settings through System Manager. The problem we had though was sometimes the network settings were not getting applied before the user logged in therefore there was no network connectivity. In the end we just manually set the network and proxy settings on each workstation. Only needs setting once. We also utilise Kerberos on the macs which makes things a lot quicker.
  9. Think we had the same problem. Does it only happen if the browse to the drive and double click on the file. Try opening the document by opening word first then go to File, open and browse for the document. This should now open and save the document.
  10. What server version are you running? When you go to Profile Manager/my devices on the workstation what order are you installing the certificates? Are the ports open on your external firewall to Apple? Do you have the server as an exception in your proxy bypass settings (this is the one that got us)?
  11. The procedure we use when joing Macs to the Windows network from scratch is: 1. Change the Sharing name in system preferences then restart the computer 2. Bind the computer to your windows domain by just putting your full domain name in. This will then add the domain as your search domain. 3. Add your workstation to Profile Manager and then add to appropriate device group. 4. Restart computer and make sure policies are applied.
  12. If you put in 'Restrict which apps are allow to launch' and then put the app in the 'Allow Apps' you also need to put the path in the 'Allow Folders' to the application that you want to run.
  13. On your Yosemite server go to event logs, Profile manager and see what it states in there first.
  14. Have Ranger for Networks on 32bit workstations and all works fine but when installed on 64bit client I do not get any desktop icons or start menu. Does anybody know if something needs to be configured for 64bit workstations to get this to show.
  15. Have you tried using a proxy.pac file. The information I was relating to was for Macbookpro's.
  16. Hi Dayzd, Many thanks for your help on that. It worked a treat. Been working on this for ages but now resolved.
  17. OK Managed to find a script but have run into a small problem, The script is basically as below: tell application "System Events" tell current user set fn to full name try mount volume "smb://server/shared area/" & fn end try end tell end tell The problem I have is that it will only work if the username of the logged in user is the same as the Display name in Active Directory. e.g. Staff user atest login name is atest but their display name is A Test - Head of Maths. This will not work. The only way I can get it to work is to change the display name to be the same as the login name: atest. But this now means that it affects the email display details. Anybody know if I can change the script so that it reads from the username and not the display name.
  18. Yes we do that as well for the shared drives but how do you map an individual users folder to the desktop?
  19. Hi, Has anybody got a good example of a script that I can use to map a windows home drive to the mac desktop on login. Using Yosemite workstations bound to active directory and managed through Yosemite profile manager. Can mount drive to users folders by going to 'connect to server' but cannot get a script working. Any samples would be much appreciated.
  20. Hi Manick, Make sure you put an exception to the Apple server in your proxy bypass settings otherwise it will stay on pending.
  21. Hi Thanks for that but did not resolve. Shows updates, shows what size there are but when it has timed out it states it is not connected to the internet. Did you have to put a username and password in?
  22. Managed to resolve by editing local group policy and change the Windows update policy to only point to Microsoft store and not WSUS server. This then downloaded all the updates and installed them. Still have an issue with Windows store apps not downloading or updating. Shows me the updates but does not download them.
  23. Hi, Just testing Windows 10 build 10130. Running into problems downloading updates and apps. It shows me that I have windows updates and app udates but when I go to download them it just sits on 0%. Our internet is behind a proxy server. Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 work fine.
  24. We use a separate wireless network on a completely separate Vlan and IP range from the main network. We then use Transparent proxying in Smoothwall and SSL login. Users login using their Active Directory credentials and get filtered by the same policies that they would using an in house computer. Complete access and filter logs available on smoothwall.
  25. Post sorted now. Needed to use 'UID' before the username and not 'CN'.
