Hey @skell, thanks for asking. Both Broadwell 5th Gen and Skylake 6th Gen are available, but customers are tending toward the 5th Gen as it's about 7% cheaper and they won't be needing the bells and whistles of the 6th Gen.

Having the same conversation with many clients at the moment; i.e. Features, benefits, price comparison between NUC and VESA mount UCFF with thin Mini-ITX mobo and integrated cable tidy. I'm a big fan of the NUC but do think better performance per pound can be had.

Robustness as you point out is key as is upfront cost, ease of repair, cost of spares, and availability of spares; because let's face it - with all the best intentions in the world, laptops are up there, top of the list most likely for things that will break when in a students hands (purely an observation). How about a Classmate 2in1? I'd think that'd be a great solution to this. Ruggedised (IP51), Lightweight, has a carry handle built into the keyboard dock which allows for multiple viewing positions, and comes with a stylus. I'd recommend you look into Apple Mfi certified braided cables, 25cm ones can be had for under £7 a pop.

Without knowing more @robjduk I would say the 5412r zl2 is a more common run rate option and it is modular which may benefit you more.

If you install Win 7 on your students Win 10 Tablet, I highly doubt they'll thank you for it, whether it provides access to the intranet or not. I agree with @elsiegee40, don't do it and she points out a couple of other good reasons why not to above. Ta, Col
