Hi all My wife and I are currently looking to move north wards to most likely between Sheffield and Nottingham as we have many family and friends that way. I currently work as a performing arts technician and previous to that I worked as an AV and IT Tech. My roles have ben generally focusing on the AV side but i am happy and enjoy doing IT stuff. I do freelance work in web development as well. I would like to get more of an IT role and develop more of my server skills. I have my own servers at home running Pfsense, Freenas and an ESXI server with various os on. We are looking to potentially move in the next 6 months. so looking for potential opportunity's and advice. Thanks

If you have lighting equipment installed already then you could purchase lights off the shelf if you know what you want. If you have morning installed and are looking for a complete install I would suggest going for an led based rig. For colour washes etc you will be able to achieve more with led lights and the cost is around the same as a basic stage light (fresnel). If you want spotlights then depending on budget you may have to look at non led based units as these are often more than double what a non led unit is. Several makes to have a look at for fairly good led lights are chauvet, Martin rush, Americcan DJ. If you need a whole rig including multiple bars and lights and a lighting g desk then you will need a budget of around £10,000. But could be done for less (£5000).

Hi have a look at the Black magic stuff, they all need lens but really good kit Buy - Blackmagic Studio Handheld 4K Camera with 10" viewfinder, MFT Lens Mount and 4 Hour Battery (BMD-CINSTUDMFT/UHD) Buy - Blackmagic Design Production Camera 4K Super 35mm Cinema EF Mount - Body Only personally I would stick to hd as it is more standard. Although you can edit 4k you will need a good machine to do all the rendering.

I have found quite a few people worry when transferring from analogue to digital, they find it scary. I regulay use Yamaha, Allen and Heath and Midas consoles. Each manufactuer has there own way of working, allen and heath give you more individual eq controls compared to say midas and yamaha who you need to select the band. I always advise people to learn the basics of an analogue desk and outboard first as the fancy things about a digital desk can easily take over. I am currently looking to get a new digital desk at work either a Allen and heath QU32 or a Soundcraft Si Expression 3.

You could install Xibo on the internal pc and uninstall magicinfo

Might be more expensive but I know which brand I would happily pick. Also as mentioned they got a shorter throw lens. The more expensive you go the better the projector. You also then get lens options which are important.

Hi If you are after edge blending then this is pretty easy to achieve. tvOne offer some good products a basic one is 1T-C2-760 - no pc interface or a slightly more advanced one is C2-2450A - pc interface these units are £1000 to £1500 ish and you would need two of them and you would also need a distribution amp to split the signal to both units or you could go for one C2-8120 which is about £4000. First thing when You say lanyard mics i think of is Feedback. Unless the mic/receiver unit is near the person this will have a high gain which will easily cause feedback. Have you tried headsets mics instead? In regards to the 12 headset radio mics, what mixer have you been offered? I have seen installs where they give a mixer than is useless as it has no eq just gain and master volume controls.

I missed the part about the headset mics. you can use 12 sennheisers on 38, and a license will cost you about £120

Hi you say 'wireless lanyard mics' can i ask what is wrong with handheld/lapel mics. Also what are they being used for? aslo what do you mean by lanyard mics?

Hi Binz what do you want to display on the projectors, and do you want all the source material coming from the computer or is it say cameras as well. There are hardware options but if you want all the sources to come from the pc then that knocks them out. Software options there are two that i would recommend, ScreenMonkey (free or paid) and WATCHOUT | Dataton | www.dataton.com (paid for). for this optiuon you would need for graphics card outputs If you can give more info on the sources for each screen (and what connector they have ie hdmi, vga, phono, bnc, sdi) that would be good. Also an idea of budget. Thanks Anthony

Hi there are many options available one unit which i like and seems to be rather good is VGADVI Broadcaster this unit should do the job. its not cheap but then to stream properly it is not cheap. Anthony

the shure system is still cheaper than the sennheiser Shure PG24/PG58 Wireless Vocal System - T10, Channel 70

They have got rid of channel 69 and moved the payed for license to ch38, channel 70 is still free to use and for many people will still do the job and you dont need to spend extra money on a license Most channel 69 equipment will tune to channel 70

what do you classify as cost effective? do you have a budget?

The fostex i would not say are a PA speaker more of a personal monitor. I would suggest looking at something abit larger which could handle a wider frequency range. The smallest speakers i would go for would be 8inch cabs. A firm i recommend buying from is Thomann in Germany. if you email them they will do a purchase order and give you an educational discount of about 5% which is good as they are pretty low on quite a lot of items anyway. Have you managed to sort your equipment yet. I am sorry dhicks but i would not suggest the stuff you are suggesting at all. if you are still looking are you able to answer the following: - rough budget - how many people does the room hold and do you have in there ie 200 people - do you have any current equipment and if so what?
