I am trying to enable url rewriting/clean urls on Drupal 6 CMS running on the EMBC webserver. Atm, Drupal is working great and I would like to use it as the content management system to migrate our current website to, but without url rewrites, the urls are messy and not SEO'd. I have url rewriting working on LAMP servers and on IIS 6/7 on internal windows hosts. I know there are seperate modules for IIS 6 though IIS 7.5 has it built in. My problem is that I told by the EMBC service desk that it is something that I need to enable on my side, but I do not have root/admin access to their servers. I'm running thin on ideas. Has anyone been able to enable clean urls/URL Rewriting on EMBC webservers? If so any help would be appriciated. Rob

We have been using Office 365 for many years; and have both our School's original Domain Name, and newer Domain Name registered (& set-up etc.). We are at the early stages of changing our Web(site) Hosting Company; and in-turn, transferring (the registration of) our 2 Domains across as well (So that our Web Hosting and Domain registrations are under one). I just wanted some advice, recommendations and/or best procedures on the correct method of transferring across? I can set-up the (new) Office 365 DNS settings within the CPanel of the new Hosting Company fine etc... it's the correct sequence of events, that will allow me to do this without affecting, or at the least with minimal outage, of our Office 365 service whilst the (new) DNS settings are propagated? Assuming that the important DNS record(s) are the MX ones... as I am not sure which of the other ones are purely used to prove ownership of the domain(s) to Microsoft when you initially register them with the Office 365 service? Hopefully I've made sense, and thanks for any advice given.

Hi, Wondering if anyone has done this..... We have an LA issued domain name .sch.uk that I want to transfer to another nameserver (1 and 1) and change the IPS TAG. We are the registered owners according to Nominet. The LA dept are willing to release the domain. 1 and 1 are telling me they can't host that domain extension (typical, why they won't I don't know) Anyone moved a similar type of domain name to non LA host ? If so, to who ? Cheers in advance, Mikydoos

My wife's business has an advanced (business) hosting package with a company which has been very lax lately, emails have been down for a week for example. I'm looking for a reliable host which offers me the ability to create database driven websites using a CMS. It has to be very reliable.

Hi, Our website is currently hosted on Heart Internet's shared service but in the last few months their service has been absolutely rubbish. Every few days the website is down and I only know the times that I (or one of the teachers) noticed it. I foolishly only recently started monitoring with monitor.us and statuscake. The last couple of days in fact it has been more down than up and the upshot of an exchange of emails with support was that their shared hosting service doesn't have an SLA and suggested we get a VPS. However, apart from the fact that I wouldn't want to pay them any more money, I want to get a managed service which I don't think they provide. So, does anyone have any web host recommendations, either for a reliable shared hosting service or for a managed server. I was looking at this one: Hetzner Online AG: Managed Server MX90-SSD I use their vServer VX11 for personal projects and have been quite happy with it. Our website is a WordPress site and it is quite heavily used for blogging by all the staff and we also post a lot of news for the parents, etc. Thanks

Evening Guys, I'm not sure how many of you work in schools that let their kids mess about with LAMP servers and setting up their own space for hosting etc, but in case you do cPanel offer their Control Panel software for $30 (admin costs) to non-profit/educational establishments. Having used cPanel through Edutech Hosting I love it - it's very good. I bet most people out there have used it at all. The link to sign up is: Non-Profit License Application Form - cPanel Inc. As you know I don't work for them so I don't feel as though I am advertising. Gareth
