Quite large and complex IP scheme you've got there! Are you using static IPs? I'd try connecting a laptop via cable (with wi-fi disabled) to the trolley AP directly and see if it has any connectivity with both sets of IP ranges (e.g try pinging out from it as well as in/check T'itnernet access etc) regards Simon

What make/model is the trolley AP? (And the roof AP?) Can you administer it over http - does it work - does it work via a separate wired connection (ie. not plugged into the trolley AP) This is in case you are pinging over wireless and the AP is responding directly instead of being bridged across to the main celing AP. regards Simon

Well my HTC Desire (spec says 5MP) takes pictures at 2592 x 1952 which is 5.6 MP [edit]Sorry - got it wrong - 5059584 pixels[/edit] so I think your are being diddled or the default setting isn't the highest res. Wakey wakey - I think some people have fallen into a dream world Manglement ALWAYS get the new toys. They NEARLY ALWAYS have no need for them The ipad is a lovely device, it could possibly become a great (but pricy) educational teaching tool for teachers (as a wireless remote VNC tool) or for groups of pupils instead of laptops for creative use and even for the odd bit of "office" work. But its not a serious device for entering data into sims/spreadsheets/wp/powerpoint etc. If you have to buy them one, at least stand up and be counted as saying they don't need them regards Simon But they are very good at updating facebook/farming whilst on the sofa

Do teacher laptops/pen drives need to be encrypted is thery just contain lesson plans/resources? At what amount of personal data should encryption be considered? Has a educationalist up to and including head teacher level ever got more than a smacked wrist for contravening the act? regards Simon

All depends on what you use your phone for. I use mine as my personal assistant and my main app that I couldn't live without is Calendar Snooze so that when a diary appointment goes off, I can snooze it I use Touch Calendar to input calendar entries. And I use Tasker to automate operations. (e.g WI-Fi off, display unlock, full brightness,read any new SMSs out loud and launch a GPS app when I connect it to a car power lead) Other main apps Dropbox Seesmic to replace Facebook app as writing too small in Facebook one Skifta as DLNA Client/Controller Rockplayer to watch Xvids/Divx videos Barcode Scanner to scan QR codes Google Maps, Navigator and Sky Maps (and the new Google Docs but not used it much yet) Easy Installer (Lets you install non-market .apks direct from your SD Card) Swype (or similar) type keyboard replacment regards Simon
