Although thinking about it, It doesn't have to be a squid proxy; anything will do! its purely as a passthrough anyway. All our filtering etc is done at county level.

Hi all, Does anyone know of a way I can make it so that before anyone can access the internet through our squid proxy, they have to click I agree on a button on the website? I'm sure I've seen similiar things around but I dont know how to do it myself. Thanks in advance Rob Emery

hmm I was thinking something like that perhaps, we're just having alsorts of trouble with it; seems like its just not really designed for this. We're just going over to outlook rather than OE; can't afford an exchange server yet (hopefully soon though!) thanks for your input!

Hi all, Does anyone know of a way we could migrate all our users (and emails & contacts etc) from outlook express to the Outlook 2003 that we're deploying, without them all having to manually go file > import etc? Thanks Rob
-
Ahh Good Idea, it would at least do for the moment I thinks! Cheers

Damn, so theres not a way to make it default to being off or anything like that Thanks

Howdy all, long time no see Right, does anyone know how to turn off moodle emailing EVERYONE whenever a news item is changed on main page etc. I think personally I'd like to just disable as much of the emailing as possible! Thanks - Rob Emery

Never had any printer problems on our 3.5 year old CC3 network... no other 3rd party software; no hacking login scripts to add printers for this, that and the other. Have you tried restarting the print services? IIRC the following need to be stopped & started on the root server: * Print Spooler * RM Print Credits Client Service * RM Print Credits Manager Service * RM Printer Wrapper Service Also, have you checked the event log of the affected machines regarding messages for printer installations? The entire server has been restarted multiple times since all this has started to occur and its made no difference. I've just checked the event logs and the only thing that mentions printers is in the Application log with RM Station Delivery being the culprit: Failed to set \\MSF-SR-002.moorlandssixth.internal\C2Mono printer as default printer in function SetUpPrinterMappings, with error: The printer name is invalid. C2Mono IS the default printer for the 'room' but obviously it cant set it as default because the C2Mono hasnt been added by the RM Station Delivery thing :| Garrr Confusing Rob

Now sadly Dave me dear, You know just as well as I do that Ron is the man who decided RM, not me

Thanks for the replies, These are all the printers, regardless of whether they're connected to the LAN through an inbuilt NIC and shared off the servers or attached to stations and shared from there. I had a case a few weeks ago in which one student picked up the printers from the art room regardless of where he was logged on. Then it just vanished over half term :| Anymore Thoughts? Cheers Rob

Hey all, We have a bit of a problem in that the printers that have been allocated to rooms aren't always being actually set, in some cases it gives people printers from other rooms, or only 1 out of the 4 allocated to the room. I've found an article in the RM Knowledgebase but that only mentions RM Station Delivery and RM Gatekeeper are installed. The packages are allocated and INSTALLED in the ini's for the station itself and appears to be on fine. Does anyone have any other suggestions for what it could be? Thanks Guys Rob

Afternoon, I've got an alias on "IMail" our Mail server application so the students can email things like faultdesk@local rather than moorlands.staffs.sch.uk. But if you try and email @local in outlook 2007 it says its an unrecognised Address. So I assume theres some auto checking thing in it. I've disabled "Automatic Name Checking" in Advanced Email Options, but its made no difference. Any ideas anyone? Cheers Rob

Howdy all, Right, we have an old RM 2.4 system with the email server on (IMail). In the users "mywork\appdata" folders used to be contained their mailboxes and their addressbooks. County have just moved the email server to our secondary CC3 server. Included in this was the moving on the mailboxes and supposedly the addressbooks as well. The addressbooks just DONT work though, and their solution has been to 'reset everyones profile'. They tried to do the migration with a vbs that copied everything accross and that got fouled up by something so then they XCopy'd all the mailboxes accross (works!) and then the addressbooks. But they're either blank or come up with errors about not being able to open the addressbooks or "Outlook express is incorrectly configured". Does anyone have any idea how I can mass-migrate everyones books accross, or if its even possible?! They did mention importing them from the WAB's on the old server but A: That'd take an age. B: It errors on my bosses account with "An Error Occured In The Import Process. The Import Process Could Not Be Completed". Arrrggg Its driving me spare, yet the whiplash from teachers with "WELL HOW CAN I EMAIL ANYONE NOW?" is one to be avoided :S Thanks Muchly Rob

msf-sr-001 msf-sr-002 and Admin with our DFES number on the end. Seems a tad boring but, hey! I didnt set them up. I have Osiris and Isis at home for a nice egyptian feel

http://tomcat.apache.org/ I've not dealt with PMP myself but it seems odd that you have an apache service running in addition to IIS. Unless PMP is written in Java/Has a java based administration system? You could try updating the version of tomcat you use or the Java Runtimes maybe?

Sadly theres teaching involved. But I'm sure you could change that when you're appointed

Well with the (albiet limited) experiance I've had with RM here, it seems to cause more problems than it actually solves. And the support from the county is.... well. Awful. But still, I'm sure someone will come into and love it here. The director is leaving at the end of this school year so it's all change!

End of the school year, plus we're sick and tired of not being able to pay the f*cking bills! -
Chalk another one up for PC Inspector File Recovery. Its been pretty damn good for me whenever a student has used one of those, 'Floppy Disk' things from some backward century. I think I should remove the floppy drives from all the machines and stop the morons in their tracks!

Yup, He/She'll basically be the only technician once I leave (beginning of October) but we're a college so its not too bad, we're pretty small really. Plus the director is leaving and several members of staff so it'll be basically totally different! Hopefully someone can use that opportunity to make large sweeping changes, like removing RM and perhaps finally balancing the servers out (My current boss really has no idea ¬_¬)

Its a lot bloody more than what I'm on I can tell you that!
